This morning as he went to leave for work, all of the sudden the truck would not start. :banghead: His Air Dog fuel pump was not kicking on either. After 10 minutes of messing with different things, he finally got it to start and the pump had finally kicked on. He continues on to work and realizes know that now the check engine light is on and deceides to go to Autozone to have the code read. At the store they get code P1689, autozone says failed injection pump. Guesswhos question is, does this code automatically condemn the injec…

2001 Dodge Ram 2500 ex cab shortbed auto, 24v, 4x4, Yukon 4.10 gears, 36” tires, 3in lift, DAP sac 7x.10 injectors, HX35 (turbo is next), quadzilla, 260k miles. Had my trans rebuilt by a local shop back in April that I’ve felt with for 10 plus years. They put a billet triple disc converter in that is lower stall. From the day I picked it up it stalls when put into either reverse or forward gear when 1st started. I brought it back this past week and re addressed the issue with them. They said they would take it out and send it back where they got it from to have them loosen it up and put to factory stall. Well it still stalls... I’ve read over the last fe…

I don't know their history... I don't know with ant certainty what they are other than Bosch bodies and 7 hole non sac style nozzles. They probably need pop tested and tuned. Are they worth selling or should I just send them in for a core charge?

Michael, How do i get that sheet you posted on one of my threads about problems and steps to follow? Is that a download? My code reader just tells me what it is ,not how to follow steps to test and fix it.Thanks.

Good Day all , I did search a lot before asking but I could not find. My truck is stock and I has boost / fuel pressure and exhaust temp gauge. So for the last 2 year my truck was always cutting fuel/power without me letting the gas pedal off. it was not noticeable physically but I could see it on the boost gauge , it was maintaining 4 PSI and then dropping to 2 and back up to 4 on a flat road. As soon as I was turning the cruise control on it was going away. problem solve. I'm always on CC. Now since the last 6 month, my truck don't get dead pedal effect when CC off, but as soon as I turn the cruise control on, my truck start accelerate way pass the s…

OK I got time to do some digging to update I was driving down the road and it died would restart only idle rough no thottle response, but after starting four times doesn't idle anymore. Codes were 1688/1689OK 20 psi going into the pump, fuel spits out at injecter line( don't know how much) put a different injecter pump in that I had and it still is the same way it was after it died. Cleared codes and none have came back. Any ideals where to go next, thinking start at the batterys and check every connection I can, will have to take to a dealer next don't know where to go. Thanks for the help:banghead:

Has anybody tried to hook the Mopar switch up so it automatically changes to 3 cylinder high idle with a remote starter? I can see forgetting to change it from mpg to 6 or 3 cylinder high idle. Has there been anybody whose tried doing this and was successful. Or am I alone and gonna have to figure it out by myself.

While replacing the tappet cover gasket on my 2000 4WD 3500 Ram Automatic (VP44) (Thanks Mopar1973Man as I used your 2 great "How to" posts extensively to replace the gasket), I came across two lines near the back of the tappet cover which are currently not hooked up to anything. Before I complete the installation, and before I seal everything up, I thought that I should ask the Forum if these two lines should be connected to something that I have overlooked. I have attached a photo with a yellow note pad as background. One line appears to be an electrical plug with up to 4 connections. It stands out in the photo. The other, at the top of the photo and barely on th…

Hello all, I just back on here. It's been a while. Looked in my inbox and had a non active message. Sorry Mike! Been busy as all hell. Especially finally getting a break over here on the East coast during Hurricane Joaquin. Have been in flight for storm rescue. US Coast Guard SARS. Ok here is goes, The truck has been acting up some. Truck will start and run fine then out of the blue will not want to start. But after a 15-20 min wait it will start. The tach will not move. I replaced the Crankshaft postition sensor a year or so ago. Funny thing is it comes and it goes. It will not do it for months and will give me no problems. Thanks, John

So I blow the guts out of my limited slip and bears from all the metal. So in a nuts shell mass destruction is what I ended up with. Question I have is anyone running a arb air locker in there truck that was my 3rd limited slip that's failed so I am going to go for broke this time. I was told they are the tanks of lockers. I don't really know what to expect. I have this horrible feeling in going to be ripping of air line left and right.I am also getting on board air for locker and air bags anyone options on safe spots I should mount the tank.

hi y'all, I am about to check out a non-running 2001. Seller claims that vp44 is bad. It has a swapped 56 block together with a 5 speed with around 150k. I am wondering how would I be able to tell the health of the engine, as apparently test drive is not possible. Or, should this truck be absolutely avoided?

Ok. So long story short, I tried to swap the old 150 injectors into my truck after I went through and set all the pop off pressures with shims(diesel class project). They're pretty much junk, considering they do nothing but just smoke out everything behind the truck. I ended up going back to the stocker set I got from a good guy from here (name escapes me atm, but thank you again amigo). Had hell getting the truck started again, which I think was because I backed the truck into my spot at home, and it was leaning back slightly (the road has a crown). I got a friend and he helped me get her going again, but as it was idling, it started pouring fuel out of the bottow. We tr…

Since I blew my serp belt I've noticed I'm dripping some oil spots. Maybe the overheated situation caused some kind of change to the gaskets? Any ideas?
