So, I decided to start a new thread on this. My truck has been running like crap since I installed my 100hp ddp injectors. I know they set the pop pressure at 290, which is low. But when it's idling, or driving under light throttle it almost sounds Iike it has a fuel knock. Not sure what is going on, but is there any reason why I can't pull them and set pop pressure to 320? Not sure if this will help or not. They are really smoky, which is the nature of them I guess, but it leaves a slight clearly visible haze even driving under lite throttle, so not sure if there are other underlying issues. Truck does have a airdog 100 and a new vp.

Well the Ram just ate another ECM. Must be high in protein. The first ECM went with around 3500 miles from new in 2000 when I bought it. The dealer replaced it & never said what happened. The second ECM went wild & through just about every code you could list. I think this was in 2008. Not repairable at the time. The 3rd ECM got replaced with a used one from a 98.5. I got the used ECM & PCM together from a guy in Montana. They would not work in my truck together, So I tried just his ECM & my PCM & the marriage was formed. That work fine up to about 2 years ago. Then the WTS light, fuel pump & grids started doing their thing. Then re…

02 ram 3500 5.9 Cummins. When I remove the fuel cap the tank releases pressure, is this normal? I looked for a breather for the tank but didn't find one. What I did find on the fuel module was a suction, return and capped 5/16 port. I removed the cap and attached a hose to it then blew into the tank. I could hear bubbling so I figure this is a auxiliary suction port? Dose this tank have a vent? If so where is it located. The reason for these questions is I feel it has a starting issue. In the morning, cold start, WTS, crank crank crank, short start and dies. Ignition off, back on, WTS, crank crank crank, starts and runs fine. This is 90% of the time. When warm crank crank…

The truck is a 1999 5.9 Cummins, for the past 6 months I've had intermittent problems which ultimately led to a no start, use to buck horribly until I turned it off and back on again, and it would run fine for sometime then back to bucking. Injectors are new, injection pump is new, so is lift pump. I recently took my ecm to get tested but they said they couldn't test it cause I tried to break into it (rookie mistake, I should've left it for the pros) which led me to buying a used one that came off a 2001 cummins, and still a no start, any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you

Well after 429k miles my cam sensor gave up. That being said let me show you my 104 mile trip to Council ID for a cam sensor... I get home to change the sensor but stuffing you hand below the VP44 in 32°F weather you start to have problems. I got smart and rolled the truck in the shop and plugged in the block heater. About this time @JAG1 calls... wasted a good hour or so on the phone BSing with him. After that I ran down to the shop and proceeded to change the sensor. Now knowing what I did for my buddy Russ his was an Allen bolt. Mine happens to be an 8mm socket. Grabbed an 8mm 1/4 socket and an 1/4 inch extension that is a wobble tip. Reached i…

Help!!!! Traveling cross country with truck and car on trailer. Trying to limp home 1500 miles with a badly leaking tappet cover (1 gallon oil leaks out per 200 miles!) Pulled in to get fuel. Went to start truck, heard click then nothing! All lights, dash lights, windows, cabin lights, etc. DEAD! Checked batteries, terminal connections, grounds, fuses, etc. all seemed good. Removed terminals from batteries and reinstalled them. Heard door open alarm so turned key to run. and had dash lights, windows etc. Tried to start, heard click again then nothing. Lost all dash and interior lights, windows, etc. again. Waited a few minutes and dash, interior lights reappeare…

Yesterday I had a client call me and told me he was coming. Ok he drops his rig off here and I had to run back to town any ways so I dropped him back off and chased the two Fords in Riggins. Get down with my jobs and head into town to just double check before I head home and the CEL comes on. I got two codes off the odometer but my OBDII tool showed nothing, no readable errors even though the CEL is ON. P12xx code and P13xx code. Never bother to write them down. After just hooking up and hitting erase they are gone and never came back. I figured if they are true code they would return. Nope gone and never came back all day. Even my trip to McCall no issues. …

My fuel pressure has been acting crazy. Started gradually increasing from 16 lbs to 27 lbs. I thought at first that it was due to cold fuel. I live at 9500 ft. Had this system for about 35,000 miles or so. 2001 2nd generation with DDRP Fass 95 mounted near the fuel tank. It did the same thing a while back and I got the pressure adjusted back to where I wanted it. Now I have to try it again. Is it the ball and spring in the Fass pump you think?

Yesterday I noticed a few drops of something on the pavement under the engine towards the rear. After driving home I also noticed a fuel smell once I shut the truck down and got out. This morning I went out with a flashlight to inspect and didn't really see any wet spots other than on the rear of the cylinder head on the passenger side. It's a little damp there. I'm thinking maybe the banjo bolt for the return line? Looks like it might be difficult to get to, anyone know the size off hand? Do I need to remove it and replace the sealing washers or do these commonly vibrate loose from time to time? Also, while inspecting I saw the the center section of the fron…

What's everyone one using for a map sensor? My stock one maxes out at 40psi. I'm suspect that I'm making more boost than 40. I have the quadzilla BT gauges and dont want to run manual gauge.

Just curious as how you all use your block heater. I am of the mind set that the more you use something the faster it will wear out so I try not to over use things if not needed. So that leads to: Is it better to leave it plugged in all night or possibly for a day or two at a time or would it be best to just plug in an hour or so before you fire it up? Any advantage to either practice? This morning the outside temp is 9° so I figured on plugging in an hour before start up today just to aid in warm up and easy cranking. It should start fine without it but I know it will be easier on the engine with a little heat in there.

I had my truck parked recently and someone jammed a rag up my blow by tube. I didn’t notice, when I got home the truck was leaking oil pretty hard and I crawled under and noticed the rag. Wondering which seal you guys figure the pressure would’ve pushed. Haven’t had time to check but looks like it’s coming from the drivers side of the engine.

What’s going on guys? So as per my last topic the vp44 was my issue for whatever reason my edge wasn’t allowing my ecu to throw any dtc after figuring that out I found the p1628 or whatever the vp death code is can’t remember off the top of my head. Alright, replaced the pump with a reman vp44 from xdp and new fuel filters. Got the truck primed and she took off. Ran for about a day or so and then boom no fuel to the injectors again. Even though I do not like doing it I tried anyways I gave it a breath of ether and cracked the injector lines and still no fuel. Okay fine play hard. Towed the truck home and figured I’d call xdp and ask for my warranty (mind you this pump is…

In my down time lately I've been reading alot about injectors for the VP44 24 valve. Trying to learn and read reviews check prices and the like. I have looked through DAP and some others. Some look kind of "shady" or maybe that isn't the term but for whatever reason I didn't trust what they were saying. One on the other hand one seems to make some sense, Dynamite Diesel. All I know about this company is what I saw and read on their site and reviews of their products. I was just wondering if anyone has used their injectors? I did notice however that their prices are nearly double compared to DAP so I'm also curious as to whether or not it's worth it. .I'm not t…

27.641 Gallons after hauling a car back on a trailer from Boise, ID did 14.76 MPG. Still solid fuel pressure and no issues, no pressure dropping while driving. Remember this is for old school DrawStraw users and not in the sender straws. Lets see how low you guys can go with your old school straws.

I just found a HX35g turbo for sale cheap. I was damaged in storage with zero miles. I cant find it anywhere so I cant check the specs and from what I have found it is water cooled and was a gas application. Only the cold side outlet is damaged and was wondering if I might be able to just use the center section as a replacement for myHX35W when it goes.

I've been really busy working on my 01 Dodge Ram 2500 Cummins 4x4. Friday night after work - pull the HVAC box out and replace the heater and evaporator cores. The heater core was the original brass one from the factory, but it was plugged internally. The previous owner just installed a new radiator and I just replaced the water pump about 3 weeks ago. Vacuumed down the A/C system last night, and then recharged it with freon. Yesterday - changed engine oil and filter, install PCM protection mod with soldering in an inline fuse and using a 5A fuse, modify the charging system with the W-T ground mod, install a …

This may be a little off the wall but you don't know til ya ask. I have a filter head from a log splitter, would I be able to utilize this as a pre lift pump filter if I can locate a filter of suitable micron rating? Has anyone tried this? What were your results? I'm just curious at this point. I would like to revamp my fuel system over the summer and add gauges as well so kinda planning things in my head since I'm sitting home bored. Lol. Thanks for any input.

Currently I have a mostly stock 2001 Dodge 2500 with an auto tranny (sadly). It has stock injectors (probably original) and a rebuilt hy35 turbo and 5 inch straight pipe exhaust. No stud, no major mods. Have a quadzilla tuner and running a pretty mild tune off it and im trying to go for lower egts. Eventually id like to make 350ish HP and thats about it. It tows regularly 3k to 14k constantly and and does pretty decent at it... Until egts start getting around 1200F. Im trying to find a common Proven setup that works for this application. I do plan on putting an exhaust brake on it at some point and would like to try to steer away from having 2 tur…
