  1. I started up my truck today, it's in a dead-cold been-parked state. I got a check engine light, the check gauges warning text light came on and immediately my temperature gauge pegged. The engine is cold! I check codes with the key turn method I get: P1693 followed by P0118. I pull more codes with my ODB2 reader and get P0118 & P0116 I tested the temperature sensor for ohms. Room temp, about 70 degrees, I get 8.6k ohms Cold water from the fridge I get 19.3k Boiling water I get 700 ohms It's doing something but not sure if it's doing that something right or not. I tested the connec…

So I was driving around testing my new 7x.012 injectors and new quadzilla and my truck died. I tried restarting and it started right back up. Fuel pressure from my Fass seemed a little low (around 12 or or 13 psi) but otherwise everything seemed like it was working ok. I made a stop for about 20 min and when I got going again the truck died again 100 yards down the road and wouldn’t start. I noticed that the pump wasn’t cycling on key on/ starter bump so I had the truck towed back to my shop. When I tested the pump by putting 12v to it, it worked, so I replaced the relay with another but couldn’t get the pump to cycle. I then tested the ecm signal lead and I was only gett…

Hey guys - replaced my injectors 1x with ISX holding my hand (where's the "flower" icon ) anyway Thinking of getting rid of my RV275's and going to +75 => +100HP ...... together with hx35/hx40 hybrid. That with my methanol/water kit should bring right at 275->425 HP which is as far I as think I should go without new headstuds/bigger turbo. So thinking a couple things. (1) What you think between full injector replacement or just nozzles ?? (2) Think of these http://www.cumminsperformanceparts.com/cpp-injectors.html + 100HP and http://www.dieselautopower.com/product_p/35-fslash-40%20turbo%20budget.htm or something else in some price point ? I haven';t …

I have a 2002 Ram 2500 5.9L C code Cummins with the 6 speed and RWD. I have P0112 and P0237 engine lights. Changed both sensors, problems still there. It has limited power past 1200rpm. I checked all the wiring and every wire Ohms out at 0.0 Pins 7 and 11 Ohm out at 65,000 Ohms and I understand it should be less than 100 Ohms so I'm 99.8% sure the ECM is shot. My query is that my ECM P/N is 3947912 but I called Cummins and gave them my VIN# 3B7KC23CX2M202698 and they said the ECM P/N should be 3947412. The wired thing is the ESN for both ECM's are the same 56853373. Im assuming the ECM in the truck is original since the ECM date is 7-21-01 and the truck build date…

27.641 Gallons after hauling a car back on a trailer from Boise, ID did 14.76 MPG. Still solid fuel pressure and no issues, no pressure dropping while driving. Remember this is for old school DrawStraw users and not in the sender straws. Lets see how low you guys can go with your old school straws.

Sorry if this is in the wrong place but with 305k on the clock and the top end just being gone through and a new turbo install, I ask the question how long can we expect an oil pump to last? Mine is original to the best of my knowledge. It's a concern of mine only because certain items can't be allowed to fail without incurring copious amounts of extra money in damage to related parts (lift pump, turbo and so on) I am tempted just to replace it just because, but my old man has a point "let sleeping dogs lie" ie it has no signs of issue so why change it.....

  7. I had a leaky hydroboost. Bought a rebuild kit and changed 2 o-rings. It was very simple and straightforward. Reassembled everything pumped the breaks. A little spongy, no big deal as I was planning on bleading them. Start the truck to look for ps leaks. The break pettle was sucked to the floor and will not return. Turn the truck off and pump the breaks. After 15 pumps the breaks start to come back up. I'm stumped. Any ideas?

So I thought I would pose a question today, since this is something I’ve been dealing with all day. What exactly does the offset key do in regards to timing? I’ve searched the inter webs and I can’t find anything more than a generic, “It works with timing the pump”, or “The key has to be calibrated to each pump”. What does it do? Is there a hidden ignition pickup or sensor in the gear cover that reads the key? Reason I’m asking is because my key is crushed (My F-up). I think at some point between 1998.5-2002, Dodge took either the crank or cam sensor out of the truck when built. I have an 01, and it only has one of those sensors. I’m wondering if the key is irrelevant on …

A new issue has come up. I have a very noticeable shake between 25 and 35 mph. it is VERY similar to a tire being out of balance, but I have never had a tire do that at such low speeds. Doesn't matter if you are increasing or decreasing speed, doesn't matter if you are on the brakes or on the throttle moderately. WOT you don't feel it but that might be because the truck is rough anyways. Does matter what gear or rev, just that mph is between 25 and 35 mph, it clears up pretty much as soon as you hit 36 mph. Tires?

  10. I just replaced my VP and although it starts much better, there is still the 5-8 seconds of cranking to get her going.... I have read that the fuel pump should not be running while cranking, but I'm pretty darned sure mine is...I don't want to hurt this VP. Should my FASS150 turn off while cranking and then pump once it fires up????I'm jealous of Mike's video where his truck fires in just 3-rotations....

I'm going to replace the vibration damper (harmonic balancer) this weekend and was wondering if it is directional or has to be aligned with a mark anywhere? When I resealed my timing cover a couple years ago I just slapped it back on and torqued to spec, but I figured I'd ask the genesius this time. It's an oem cummins, can't run anything else with the fuel boss... Thanks John

So I've been having difficulty finding the proper oil and I think I have the correct stuff but I want some input before I drain the old oil. So it started at NAPA I asked for the transmission oil for my NV4500 in my 1999 ram 2500. The oil I was given was part number 04874464ab. I immediately found this fishy as on the front of the bottle is says for the NV3500 and NSG-370. I got NAPA to call back the dealer that they got it from and they insisted that this is the correct oil. I did some research online and could find nothing to this being a replacement for the syntorque oil that is discontinued. After this I caĺled Castrol directly and told this what I had and what oil I …

Hello all! First time posting here, long time forum stalker! I've recently installed a Raptor FRRP to replaced my failed carter. Not sure how long that one was out but I found out while in the process of installing my ISSPRO gauges. Right now once the truck is fully warmed up my fuel pressure is at 19psi sometimes falling just into 20psi. While running down the road my numbers are between 16-18psi depending on hard heavy the left foot is. At WOT I get 14psi, sometimes dipping down to 13psi. While from the research I've done from this site, the numbers I'm seeing fall well within the safe zone of the vp44, I'm a little concerned about the amount it's drop…

  16. 2002 3500 dually 6 speed 200k. Bought this truck late spring, finally getting around to fixing things. Needs new rear rotors. Went to take the rear wheels off, passenger side came off fine. However the Drivers side inner wheel is stuck solid! Looking like some rust in there where the wheel mates against the hub. Dammit! :banghead: I tried everything, doused it with WD40, beat the tire (not the rim) with a hammer, won't budge. Kicked things up a notch and took the truck off jack stands & put the weight of the truck on the wheel & drove it back & forth in my concrete driveway. Nothing! Chirpped and spun the tires on the driveway. Still won't budge! (At lea…

Hello all. Have a few questions about egt temps. my truck really wants to stay 1100 to 1300 degrees when i get into throttle. Ive got a schneid hot rod vp44, 125 injectors, fass, a bigger turbo, im not sure how much bigger but it is not stock and 4 inch exhaust with no cat or muffler. Previous owner had programer on it but kept it. Thinking of getting edge programer hopeing it will help with rough idle. My friend who is mechanic says rough idle with hot pump is normal but im more concerend bout egts. Im not much into hot rodding truck but i got good deal and had alot of extras. Will going to smaller injectors effect larger turbo much? I dont want to spend a bun…

  19. Was at my brothers today and was talking about his old ctd 2000 2500 4x4. anyways the lift pumped failed so he went a picked up a 100 dollar edlebrock electric fuel pump, spliced it into his lines by tank and ran them straight to filter bowl bypassing lift pump completely. ran power to a toggle switch in cab which is handy because if anyone is gonna steal the truck they would make it about 200ft before running out of fuel. after install he never dropped below 15 psi and never got above 20-21. anyone else done this?
