I know this a common issues for guys adding wheels and oversized tires but to show a quick clip of running down the pavement semi-flat ground at 66 MPH and the tach shows a prefect 2,000 RPM's. The EGT floats today about 600*F, and boost is about 3-5 PSI. Had to try mounting to the side window and see if the GoPro could do it. I found out the LED lighting screws with the frame rate with the flashing displays which its not actually doing.

Well I was excited that I found an upgrade turbo a HE351W Ya the Chinese Holset.(since my PacBrake would bolt up) that was going to be bolt on, but the modulator? for the wastegate hit the oil filter housing. I removed one of the studs from the manifold just to get it in there. Now I need to determine the best way to make it fit. Thinking of bending the the bracket or cutting to move it up. Always up for suggestions.

So it came in the other day and im going to get around to installing it soon. I have all manual gauges, so Im missing out on a lot of cool gadgets I guess. I read the quadzilla instructions and pretty much got that, what is the Iquad going to do besides download other tunes? In other words what is it going to do for the quadzilla? I read the instructions but I will have to re read them Im sure several more times. Just asking questions to basically put it together in my head. Excuse me but im old school, dual point distributors were high tech in my day.

  5. My truck finally runs again. My vp failed and was rigged with an external transistor years ago. Then the dreaded delayed wait to start issues for a long time then the ECM finally died a few months ago. It only ran in the hot wire test mode, idle only. So I made a microcontroller project to do it all. 3 hardware versions and 7 software versions and a lot of simulation and testing later I hooked it up for real today, turned the key and it started and ran, pretty good actually. I'm very happy😀. Still a long way to go though. The mysterious VP44 has been cracked.😎

  6. When I drove the 2001 Dodge (aka The Dragon) home for the first time shew blew billowing clouds of coal all the way from Kingman Arizona (the place of acquisition) to my home in Los Angeles. Hence the truck was named "The Dragon." There was a long list of items causing that voluminous smoke including: dirty fuel filter, tired injectors, busted intercooler boots, worn out legacy tuner (or not), cracked exhaust manifold, etc. With each measure taken the amount of smoke output was greatly reduced. After a lot of learning and a lot of fun adventures I finally won the battle! The last measure was changing the gearing in the final drive from 3.55 to 3.73…

Curious on what people use for the iQuad Turbo Timer setting - minutes or temp and what values? I currently set mine for 330 degrees. Lately on hot summer days (like now) it takes a good amount of time to get to temp to shut off the ignition. Not sure what (or if) there are optimum values to cool the turbo down. Thanks

Im new to the world of stock fuel filters seeing I cut my bracket off my old truck and used it to hold isolator about 12 years ago lol. I was about to remove this one when someone on here told me in kind words that that was dumb So what brand seems to be the best?

  10. I'm finally getting motivated to install a new ATS T3 3-pc pulse exh manifold and ATS Aurora turbo on to my 2002 that I've had on hand for a while. Goal is to have a better spooling turbo for towing and a more durable/efficient manifold. Going to install the 2 things as a pair. Question is how to deal with the downpipe to the new ATS turbo. Currently my setup has a 4" downpipe connected with a flange coupling to a stock exhaust elbow to a HX35/Fleece turbo. What I' m anticipating is a few visits to a local exhaust shop to cut off the existing downpipe and then re-install the new down pipe that shipped with the aurora and then hope there's correct clearance to connect up t…

Hi, I was woundering if anyone can help me diagnose a oil leak it started after I had my vp44 replaced on a 2000 5.9. It is just pouring oil out fromm some where on the front of the motor on the drivers side I have tried cleaning the motor to see where it’s coming from. I have already replaced the front seal the crank seal and I have rebuilt the vac pump. I looked around the vp44 checking for a leak but it is dry all the way around is there something I am missing. Thank you

Hi all, I have finally come up for air and ready to install my Quadzilla. If anyone can direct me any "new user" articles in here on to how to set it up, not the physical part, I have that covered, but the software aspect of it. I'm using it with an iPhone. I would greatly appreciate it!

  13. Hi All, longtime reader, first time poster. Most of my build is a recipe from here and other parts of the community, so thanks. Finally thought Id join and contribute because Im spinning wheels in my head more than the truck on this issue. Also see if I can help contribute to other headaches too. Issue relates to not achieving max boost out of the turbo, unless the wastegate is pinched. I dont see any boost leaks, and have plenty of fuel, more later. in case sig doesn't appear or post. My truck has a small oil leak, just a drop or two at a time but I was told it appears to be from the back side of the timing cover. I'm contemplating having the leak fixed and I figured if the cam has to come out to do it, possibly toss in a different one. I was looking at the Colt cams stage 3 or Big stick as I think it was called. Is anyone using one of these or know someone who is? Just curious if it was worth it. Just saw the other post regarding the big stick, lol.

Not long ago I changed injectors in my truck (see sig) and assuming that the claim of 100hp is accurate, anyone have an estimate of my new torque numbers? Stock Dodge advertised 235hp and 460ftlb of torque I believe. Just wondering where it might be at now. Any thoughts? No chassis dyno around here that I know of and honestly not that worried about it to spend the time and money. Just curiosity really.

Got started on my Big Stick III install a couple weeks ago. This cam is comparable to Hamilton "tow" cam 178/208. Mine came out of my 96 which I Colt reground. Pulled it at 494,400 miles, but they said it was good to go and gives me the mechanical lobe if I decide to convert to mechanical lift pump. During the project I did a couple things on the side- installed a block stiffener from Cummins, modded the water pump, and threw in a different set of injectors. The block stiffener is one they use on their Tata engines in India (Tata Cummins are a bit of an amalgamation of Cummins parts, built out of 2nd Gen 24V blocks with early CR pistons and VE injection pum…

So, after 278,800 miles, my virgin 100% stock automatic has had its first hiccup. A couple days ago when I came to a stop it kept wanting to lurch forward, dragging the engine down. It doesn't kill it but it is lugging. I did some Googling but am not finding anything with the exact symptoms I'm having. I think it's the TC solenoid so I ordered one and will try replacing it. During normal driving the trans essentially operates normally, when the TC locks at its usual time the engine RPM drops, and it unlocks and relocks as I let off and back on the throttle. Basically, everything works normally but it acts like the torque converter suddenly went from 80-wha…

So, I'm still having the P0237 code problem, even after I sent my ecm (which was barely scraping by apparently) to ACS. I ended up shelling out the $499,plus another $165 for the wts light fix. Tried disconnecting the battery terminals to see if it was a ghost from the past, but the codes still won't clear. I tried just removing the quadzilla, and still no dice. I checked all three wires. Ground is grounding, 5 volt reference is getting power, and the signal wire shows continuity between the ecm connector and the map sensor connector. Wtf am I missing? I'm seriously considering pulling everything, selling it, and going to a P-pump. Because I'm disgusted with t…

I finally pulled the trigger. My injectors are stock original as far as I know with 165k on them. Been noticing the idle creeping up a bit more lately, 0% engine load at idle and doesn't feel as crisp as it used to. So, called @dieselautopowerand talked to Jacob, explained what I have, how I use the truck and future plans. After a great conversation placed an order for a set of 7x0.009 VCO injectors. Looking forward to installing them to see the difference.
