Well all, still fussing with my heating/AC system. I swear that if it was not for the Cummins engine I would sell this truck immediately due to the "time after time after time" hassles we have been having with the climate control.Back in June or so I took it to a good shop here in town and they pulled the dash and installed a new diverter door coupling. Seems that the coupling had broken and the motor could not move the door. It worked for a few days then stopped but luckily for me it stuck in the cold position so the A/C worked fine and in Arizona in the summer thats important. Finally this fall I took the truck back to have them fix it right.Well kids, the truck has bee…

Ok everyone I have the parts coming in Today and Tomorrow to replace my Heater Core. I am also going to swap out my Evap and Blower motor while I have the HVAC Box out. To top it all off I have needed to replace my Dash for awhile now so one is on the way from LMC Truck and that will be going in as well. Mike I have seen your video on You Tube and it breaks things down pretty well for the HVAC Box. If there are any little tid bits or pieces of advice anyone has please share them with me. I will write up a synopsis of how the job went when I am finished. Thanks Probably should have put this in 2nd Gen Non Powertrain Related if someone can move this that w…

Hey guys, Okay surfing around the internet and on this site (Mike's truck), I've been inspired to add some lights to my rig. I'm going to get the Napa 50-620w-3 light housings with the 50w bulbs in them. I've thought about adding the 100w 4509 bulbs but think I'll wait for now as I feel the two 50 watts lights will be plenty for me at this time. So what I want to do is run the lights to a switch so I can have them flip on by the switch separately or come on with the high beams.... Is this possible?? Or should I say possible without running a million wires everywhere? What they look like: http://www.yotatech.com/f127/auxiliary-back-up-lamps-75744/ And just in case yo…

Howdy again all so it's been about a year and a half or 10k mile's since i put on new Brake pads front and rear. and they are begining to squell when i apply them so guess it's time for new one's but, while i'm into it the factory rotor's probaly would like to be relived of duty after 200k mile's. I've been looking around and Found this website from a friend who use's it and like's them http://brakeperformance.com/brake-rotors/Premium-Dimpled-and-Slotted-Brake-Rotors.php . I want the best one's since i'm towing alot of weight most the time so the Drilled and slotted one's are a must. Comparing number's to number's with Napa and this site they are the same other then the m…

Not sure if this is actually my fault but upon my steering gear install one of the frame brace/ Sway bar bracket bolts stripped out. Turn out theyre is a nut inside the frame rail that is stripped and spinning out. Now what the heck do I do? I can see know possible way of getting another but in without cutting into the frame and that’s not what I want to do? Any suggestions? I’m worried about the sway bar flying off at some point becuase of only one bolt on the drivers side holding it up.

Well I'm full of problems today... I've been having a slight brake squeal. It only occurs under VERY light braking. What's recently been happening though is it'll squeak when at low speeds. Usually only below 30mph I can hear it and when driving straight. When turning it seems to go away and doesn't come back once wheels are straightened out again. I'm not sure if it happens once the brakes are applied and then once I've let off that they're not fully separating from the calipers or what. Any ideas?

416k miles and my fuel gauge wigged out and dropped to EMPTY and set the low fuel light. The part number is still valid and the total cost has gone up since the article. Now the price is $108 for a new float sender for the fuel tank same one as before but just extra $30. Fun is I'll pull the fuel line from the VP44 and just pump out the fuel tank into 5 gallon buckets. Just got to jumper the AirDog 150 relay and allow the pump to do its job. Oh yeah I pulled up the Juniper bush at the corner of my drive way. While having fun with this I managed to pop a wheel joint cap loose. Broke the cir-clip and the cap slide out. I'll most likely just order …

So its been winter here, and during this period my wife backed into front of my truck. Quite a lot of damage to hers, almost not a scratch on mine. However summer is here an I go to put on AC and nada. So obvious thought is she damaged the AC condensor at front. I black light everything - cant see anything from the previous dye..... might be too old. I vacuum everything down. It goes from 28HG to around 25HG in around 4 hours. So must have a leak. So then I primed with compressed air to 100psi through high with system open (means both sides at 100). Couldn't hear any leaks. Sprayed with soapy water - that didn't do anything except make a …

So its been busy this weekend...ball joints Friday and Saturday. First time I've ever done them, wasn't horrible once I figured it out, but having to take the hubs apart to get to them was a PITA!!!! I want to know if a 2001 outer knuckle will fit on a 96 axle....Then, the Redhead steering box showed up on Saturday. I really didn't want to jump right back into it after dealing with ball joints for about 15 hours total, Friday and Saturday, but since losing my brakes and steering due to vacuum has become a daily occurrence, I dove into it today. Replaced the steering gearbox, rebuilt the vacuum pump (twice, since I put a seal in wrong the first time, replaced the lowe…

Went and did my taxes a few days back and found out I'm getting some money back this year rather than paying, which is awesome news for me and the hospital... I'll be using the majority of the money to pay off the hospital bill I racked up last Thursday, all thanks to the stupid ice and snow!! :banghead::banghead::banghead:Anyway, I decided that if I'm gonna pay off the hospital I at least want to get an HID Kit for my truck. I have been looking for the blue-ish tint ones and haven't found ant good sites. I want something that stands out from the crowd, and no, I am not gonna get the cheap e-bay knock-off's. Anybody know of some good sites or at least lead me in the right…

I have replaced my power steering pump twice now and can't seem to get the noise to go away. When the engine is around 1100-1300 rpm and the power steering fluid is warm it makes noise and groans (Only when turning the steering wheel). It is pretty loud and can be heard in the cab. The first pump I ran penzoil power steering fluid. With this second pump I have full synthetic ATF fluid in there. Each time I replaced it I removed the return line and got all of the fluid out (Started and turned the wheel for a few seconds). Then replaced the pump, filled the pump, lifted the front end, started it and turned it back and forth until it felt good. Then refilled the pump. I only…

The weather is soon going to be hot here in the low country of SC, and the inside of my cab won't be any cooler. Here's the issue: Most of the time (95%), my A/C just blows hot air regardless of where the temperature control knob is. If I have been driving for a while, especially on the highway, the A/C might start blowing nice cold air. I never get too excited because soon after that, I will hear a single pop noise under the hood and the air gets hot again. This pop noise usually occurs when I am slowing down. I'm not sure if that is just coincidence, though. I know nothing about a/c systems, but it is killing me not even knowing what is causing this. Any an…

As the title says, I received an unexpected package in the mail yesterday. A brand new set of headlights, complete plug and play with turn signal and new halogen bulbs installed. The wife though I went on a parts binge again so I was getting questions lol. I come to find out that a good friend of mine that had stopped over last weekend had noticed my terribly clouded and full of moisture headlights on my truck. He took it upon himself to order up a full set and have them shipped to me. They are basically stock replacements but I do greatly appreciate his generosity! Looking forward to getting them installed!

I know this is going to sound weird but..... There is water leaking out between the panels where they are welded together. It is dripping out right there where those 4 pieces of metal are laying on each other. This is directly under the passenger seat. Where the heck is the water coming from??? The only thing that makes sense is the AC but not really..... It does not have any coolant in it.... I didn't wash the truck, it had not rained, etc etc.... Stumped in San Diego.

Looking for a wired back up camera that fits the 2001 3500 extended cab. The Hopkins 50002 system looks good and has good reviews, but they don't say it will fit the 2001. It is just a license plate camera. Anyone have any experience with these, or have a better suggestion. I just want to use it to make hooking up the trailer easier.

Ok guys and girls, I have a good one for ya. I was driving to work this morning and When I stopped at a light, I heard "ting, tang, thud". Something fell from in the dash and hit my foot. I thought maybe the clutch pedal rod retaining clip fell down. I made it to work and looked on the floor. Its an E style clip almost the same size as a quarter!! Does anyone know where such a thing might have come from? I wiggled all the pedals back and forth and they didnt seem lose or anything. I will go out in the day light today and take another peek at it. Help!! I dont know if its safe to drive right now.

Ok Gang... I have had enough of my truck need constant counter-steering to the left it get back enough I'm starting to have problem hold it straight. I've got 183K miles on the clock and nothing but front axle bearing have been done. Anyone got sure fire ways of inspection of the ball joints and tie rod ends to tell if they need replacing. I know I could look in the Dodge FSM but I rather hear from all of you that have done axle work and what to look for. I can say my tires are still wearing good and straight no feathering or tappering of the tread. I'm going to jack up the nose of the truck and take a peek and see what I can find...
