I have replaced my power steering pump twice now and can't seem to get the noise to go away. When the engine is around 1100-1300 rpm and the power steering fluid is warm it makes noise and groans (Only when turning the steering wheel). It is pretty loud and can be heard in the cab. The first pump I ran penzoil power steering fluid. With this second pump I have full synthetic ATF fluid in there. Each time I replaced it I removed the return line and got all of the fluid out (Started and turned the wheel for a few seconds). Then replaced the pump, filled the pump, lifted the front end, started it and turned it back and forth until it felt good. Then refilled the pump. I only…

Drove the truck over 100miles today, hasn’t done any kind of distance in awhile. After about 30 miles, started to feel gravelly pedals, both brake and clutch felt weird, when pressed felt gravelly under my feet. Braking seemed a little weak too and power steering more intermittent than normal. At about mile 40 had to brake hard compared to normal braking and the truck pulled left... not sure where to start my chase, any thoughts?

So I hear some people running atf+4 for power steering fluid has done them well then others harshly say not to use it. Well I can not find any synthetic power steering fluid around here and I'm wanting to flush the system this weekend. I want to know for sure the difference between the two and pros/cons of using either. I just installed a new redhead steering box moog pitman arm and tierod and the seal is already leaking on the main output shaft....lmao...within 150 miles

My O'reilly group 34 batteries have done me well. Even though they're 1000 CA and 800 CCA, they're date stamped '09 which means about 7 years old. Old enough that I'm betting I'll be looking for replacements soon.....so why not now instead of in a parking lot or when I need to be to work. And old batteries add more stress to the charging system so as much as I dont care to spend money, it seems like the right move. So as a 21st century consumer does, I shopped around the internet and found NAPA to have a pretty good deal on a group 27 (the OEM size) which have 1000 CA and 810 CCA. They even have a small rebate to boot. I dropped by my local NAPA to pick up a cou…

Hi, I'm in England and have a 98.5 24v 2500 4x4 It has a problem with the CTM, some plank had originally connected the drivers door lock wire the wrong way round so drivers unlocked, passengers locked and vises versa so put that right and noticed at the drivers door window switch someone had soldered resistors into the door lock wires ?? I have a 3500 5.9V8 of the same year so pulled the door panel off and checked it, no resistors so I removed them from the 2500, now both doors would only unlock so fitted both drivers and passenger switches from the 3500, it was still the same, I did notice that the passenger window motor now works from the drivers switch so proved …

The steering box in my truck has quite a bit of play even after I adjusted it. It has annoyed me long enough:banghead:. Time to replace it with something better I think its an autozone special that the guy before me put on. I'm thinking about a Borgeson new box or a rebuilt one from Red Head steering. Any input from anybody out there that has used either would be greatly appreciated.

I need to replace my tow mirrors. Mine are maual, but I would like to have power, heated would just be a bonus. I looked into my door panel today and see 2 vacant plugs at the mirror bolts. Does anyone know if these plugs are for the power heated mirrors? I found a pair of heated power mirrors for $240 but dont want to spend the cash if they want work. I know i need the switches, still working on those. Just wondering if anyone has done this or knows if the harnesses are for the mirrors. I also cannot find any fuses for them inside the truck or under the hood.

I do not recall having this sort of thing come up when I had the OEM fuel cap. But recently, being in Yakima for work, I had to get myself some locking caps for truck and trailer. Yesterday, I pulled the trailer home and occasionally I could hear a noise along the lines of a plastic or rubber moving as I was driving. It was odd. Heck at one point, I thought it was the cab of the truck flexing.. haha. So, I make it to the fuel station to refill. I was darn near next to the red line on E. I unlock the fuel cap and twist it off. Tank had a crazy amount of vacuum on it. I looked under the truck and fuel tank was sucked in quit a bit. Filling the tank up to full, I could hear t…

I converted my 3500 to SRW about 4 years ago. I've included a note about the conversion in my signature on several forums. I get 1 or 2 PM's a week from people asking questions about doing an SRW swap. Back when the price of diesel was over $5.00 a gallon, I was getting 3 to 5 a week. So I thought I would post a write-up I did a few years ago. I don't mind answering PM's but it's easier just to reply with a link. The conversion is actually very simple. As far as the front end goes, just remove the wheel spacers and install a set of rims from a 2500. You'll also need lug nuts. I bought a set of 32 lug nuts from Ebay that were used but in perfect shape for $20.…

So I'm planning to upgrade to the 98-99 HD steering in the near future and was wondering about the current quality of Moog parts. I've heard that Moog's quality has really gone down the crapper in the last few years but I don't have any first hand experience to confirm or deny it. I don't want to spend the time and money installing new parts if they're not going to last.

Looking for some battery recommendations for my 1999. I tried the search but didn't reveal too much, or I'm too obtuse to find them. I know I've seen some suggestions before, so any help greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Yes, they will. I picked up this set of 2021 wheels the other day with new 245/70R17 Firestones. The guy gave me the lug nuts but Dodge changed the threads at some point so I am using my old spiked nuts for now. I didn't realize how tall these lug nuts were until I put them on these wheels. This was a test to see if how well a smaller tire will work like Mike has. So far my cruising EGT's are down about 150-200 degrees. I'll have to do some more driving later to verify. I was able to pull flat out run on level 4 up to 85mph and not exceed 1200* and that's with a tune I'm messing with so all bets are off, lol. I'll roll with these for a little bit while playing wit…

I was doing some rust maintenance in the rear, painted the axle, removed the 9/16" u bolts and brackets, blasted and powder coated them and installed new 5/8" skyjacker u bolts. Torqued in a criss cross pattern according to the link below, snug, then 40 ft-lbs, then 80, then 110. How much do these bolts stretch? Once I hit final torque on the first 2 nuts, the next 2 nuts hit torque sooner than the first 2. Then when I checked the torque on all the nuts they turned a little more before the wrench clicked. Is this normal, it was my first time doing u bolts. http://www.suspensionspecialists.com/techinfo/Ubolt_Information.pdf

I've always been a little worried about using other air filters besides the Fleetguard filters made for the factory air box.....Especially after reading some of the stories of people posting how a lot of the performance air filters were bad & would shorten the life of the engine.....I had a K&N in for just a short time & I noticed there was an increase in power, but went back to the Fleetguard after hearing that the K&N didn't provide good air filtration.....After seeing the writeup here on Mopar1973Man's website for the BHAF I was thinking about installing one of these.....I was just wondering how good the air filtration is compared to the stock filters? …
