I did the truck coolant flush on my truck. I don't know why but I got a 190 temp replacement thermostat. The one I took out was a 180. Anyway, Will the 190 be ok to run in the summer in Mississippi. I did notice the temperature got hotter quicker on my trip to work this morning. The one in the truck was the original one. Still worked like it should. It was 38 degrees this morning....Yahoo,fall has fell. My truck only held 5 gallons instead of 6.

So I just finished doing my front brakes on my 99. Everyone says how hard they are to get off, glad my truck came from California, they just fell off. Getting them back on was a chore though, no one ever says how hard they are to reinstall. It took me an hour to take both sides apart and about three hours to put everything back together. Although some of that time was cleaning up the dirty parts. One thing I did find interesting was that my bearings did not have ABS sensors on them, I thought that they would? Not complaining, just was surprised not to see them on my truck.

What'd be the better way to go with track bar replacement on my 00 3/4 ton? I've gotta change mine. Should I go with the Moog? One of the kits to use the '03 model? Or one of the adjustable ones from Dss or solid steel biz? Just thought I'd throw it out to the bboard. Thanks in advance for any feedback. Dave

  4. Hi, I know this must be in here somewhere but can't seem to find what I need. I would like to wire my DRL's up to a switch (on off on ) so up is on with the high beams and off in the center and on all the time with the down position. Anybody have the proper wiring diagram for this?

I have been wanting to put my gauges in this 95 since I got it but didn't want them on the pillar. I wanted to replace worthless cup holder with gauges. I saw a few pics on CF before and it looked simple enough. Well it turned out a lot more work and I can't cut straight to save my life but I finally got them in. Waiting for new amp boxes to show up so I can get them wired up. It won't let me attach the file for some reason, I select it and and when I attach it, it says no file selected.

  6. Hey guys. Think I'll start a new thread in my current issue. I'm chasing down my dragging calipers issue. I thought my initial problem was from my 5th wheel, but it's obviously not. That thread is here So here is the problem I'm experiencing. My front brakes drag hard. To the point where I can spit on my rotors and have the spit sizzle off. This is just under normal driving with very light brake application. Mostly highway. I thought I had siezed calipers so I serviced the truck this weekend only to find problem still there. Here's what I replaced. Bought new front calipers and pads, new rotors, and new brake lines, and on the rear I got new cylinders. …

After thinking my blinker issue was due to the multifunction switch, I figured out it was the relay.... so another 20 bucks later and I picked one up at Napa...and I hate it... It sounds really dinky....and has a slight delay from when I turn the switch on to when the blinker starts to flash. Is there a relay that sounds and functions like our stock ones do? The only other thing I'm trying to do is sand the copper contacts inside the older relay to see if it will start working again properly....it blinks and then stops, then will randomly start blinking again, then stop... Obviously this is not a serious issue, but when you are used to …

  8. Had my 02 now for 7,8 years and never been able to stop the rough road squeak coming from the steering column. I think that's the source, but, difficult to pinpoint except that the squeak slows down/ almost goes away when I push forward on the auto trans shift lever. I think this is why this truck was available/ very low miles at the time of purchase. Squeek did not bother me then but now seems like my ears are on auto focus.

  9. Does it pay to rebuild a leaking steering box or buy a re manufactured one? If it pays to rebuilding them is there a bearing on the shaft that can be replaced? Mine leaks some when turning when standing still. I've had it on for about 100k before I put my steering box brace on. Bob

  10. I'm sure most of us are experiencing cold weather one way or another, and so I'm curious if you have had any problems related to steering/ hydroboost issues. Whenever it gets to the low teens or single digit temps, I start the truck in the morning, and fires right up, and you can hear and feel loud humming vibrations in the cab. It gets loud if I touch the brakes or turn the steering wheel, and you can definitely feel it vibrating through both. I figure something maybe with the hydroboost. It had been doing this for years, and I thought maybe a new steering pump would fix it, but it didn't.(needed to be replaced anyway.) Anyone else experiencing this issue? …

So I'm on my 2nd full tank of diesel in my new to me 1999 3500 24v. Each with a bottle of Diesel Kleen (40 gal treatment quantity) and I must say the Diesel Kleen really seems to have quieted the clackety clack down. At $8-$10 per bottle I don't think I will be doing that at every fill up for much longer, but will continue sporadically. I'm certain the previous owner NEVER ran any sort of additive or "helper" fluids so I'm trying to do what I can to get her back in to shape. I am subscribing to what I've read, that 2 cycle oil with TCW3 added to the fuel will help to keep things lubricated, including the lift pump and will hopefully extend the life of it. It makes…

  13. My Sport model has always had this bumper dam, or valance, connected to the bumper and tied to the frame. I dont know why or what purpose it serves other than maybe helping air flow through the radiators... But, I see pictures where some 2nd gens dont have one. :confused013: Do you???

  14. So basically i got myself a set of NHK projectors and retrofitted them into the autosaver 88 single piece headlights [non sport]. tested the plugs before i started building the harness. so after testing the pins i got : Low beam; pin1 12v pin 2 grnd, pin 3 inactive Hi beam; pin 1 ground, pin 2 inactive, pin 3 12v also noted that pin 1 is +12v even when headlights are off. So i built the harness and in the meantime something happened and now pin 3 is always hot. im over 12 hours into building the harness and this ****ery happens. im assuming a bad dimmer switch? the hi beam indicator still works which throws me off. pin 1 still acts normal switching from hot to ground when…

NFab used to sell a bumper mounted 4 unit light bar for 2001. They no longer show it in their catalog. That was the only source I am aware of. Any ideas for mounting 4 Hella lights up front? 2 driving and 2 fog lights. Thought maybe there'd be some ideas here. I probably could just bumper mount them. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

So i'm almost certain i'm going to hear to good to be true, but anyone have any experience with these mirrors or this company? Looking at the manual tow mirrors for an 02 2500 which are cheaper than the ones for an 01 and under. I thought 97-02 2500 series all fit the same manual tow mirror? Are these mirrors junk? http://www.discountautomirrors.com/catalog/?N=1607+10105+4294962959&Nr=AND%28part:Mirror,brand:Kool%20Vue%29&Ns=price3|0

I fitted a new PS pump last year around August If I remember correctly, always seemed a little underpowered at idle but I thought it was down to my tyres. Yesterday I delivered a mower I'd sold to a guy 40 odd miles away using a 12ft trailer, anyway missed the house so had to do a U turn at a T junction, it was a bit tight and to be fair I held the steering on full lock for too long and too hard, all of a sudden steering and brake pedal are both hard, I got straightened up checked for leaks , no leaks but steering hard at idle, delivered the mower and drove home with no steering or brakes at low revs. Took the pressure pipe off and the fitting to get to t…

  19. I am going to replace my rear brake pads, rotors and e brake. question is how to remove the rear rotors. Do you have to remove the rear axle and bearings? I see in a photo about adjusting the ebrake that Mikes rear rotor is removed but the axle is still in place. Is mine just stuck or does the axle have to come out? It is a Dana 80 rear.

So I need to charge my ac tonight. I was wondering how much freon it holds. And if I need to add oil. Since it is empty since doing the heater core and evaporator about a year ago. I'm close to some parts stores and would like to get my supply's before going home. I got a set of gauges too and would like to know what pressures should be reading. Thanks for any help
