i have a 2001 Ram 2500. Over the summer i overhauled my motor. I had the a/c system discharged before i started. When i had it apart i had all of the open lines plugged or capped. I dont pretend o know a lot about a/c systems but I know enough to understand and talk about the system. After i got the truck back together i had it recharged and i had them pull and hold vacuum for 25 minutes and it held no problem. it worked great the remainder of the summer and fall. now im starting to notice issues, first thing i noticed was that the condenser get burning hot almost instantly. like so hot you cant touch it. I noticed that about 3 weeks ago. the other day i left my truck idl…

Wonder where they find these guys working at these places. Yesterday I went in for getting a flat fixed and to place a matching rim, I recently bought to match all the other wheels, put on the spare. The guy acts like I'm a waste of time for him and his shop. Then when they got done the spare was installed crooked enough that it would have come loose eventually loosing it on the highway. They seem to only care about the bigger sales since they have profit sharing.... well when I need a new set, I won't be going back there either. You would think since they recognized I have 2 trucks, with the work they did, that take a relatively expensive set of tires, that they would…

Hey everybody. I am getting ready to do a radiator flush. Are there any particular brands or types of antifreeze to put back in? I was thinking about using rotella ELC because its specially formulated for diesel engines. Any thoughts? Oh ya, and does anyone know what the full system capacity is? Thanks tons!!

I have to really mash it to the floor to start truck. I was wondering if I could cut the wires tie them together then clip it back together and do away with the switch?

As you may know from my previous posting that I have this strange sound like a hoot sound and can watch my fuel pressure drop when it happens. I have completed the fuel tank access door in the truck bed so I full freedom to diagnose any issues. So now I want to blow a small amount of air pressure into the fuel line at the top of the tank to check for leaks in the suction side. Will it do any damage to the vp diaphram or other components if I blow about 10 psi into the fuel delivery lines to check on leaks?I removed the fuel module/ anti slosh tube and found my draw straw partially blocked by the fuel module housing. it was too near the side so part of the plastic housing…

  7. Hey guys, I need to rent a trailer so I can move from Washington to Texas here in the next week. I'll be driving my 99 2wd tow pig. I'll be towing my 2001 ram 2500 QCSB 4x4 and was looking for recommendations on rental trailers. I want to have all 4 wheels on the trailer if possible. I've called Rhyder, Sunbelt, and United Rentals and their trailers have to be returned to the same location, so I need something I can return out of state.. Are there any other 1 way trailer rentals that have a max capacity of 8000lbs or more so I can be on the safe side or is something like Uhaul's trailer good enough? Uhaul's max trailer weight is capacity is 5,290…

  8. Followed the instructions posted here on replacing seals on the hydroboost assembly. My question is this, is my accumulator check valve supposed to have a ball bearing in it? The *generic* schematics included show one, and everything I see online shows a ball bearing. Cautionary videos online say to make sure you put that ball bearing back or severe damage will be caused. But I am about 87% sure I did not have a ball bearing inside my valve when I took it apart. can anyone give me any insight. Edit, working on 99 Cummins.

  9. Anyone know the size of the rear passenger ebrake cable for drum brakes is? I'd take it off and measure it but seeing how this truck is my daily I can't really take it off and measure it or I'll be without. Anything helps, thanks!

  10. Finally have my 5" how I like it. Exhaust all scavenged off a kenworth w800 Ohhh man I'm really liking the 3rd gen wheels I have two sets. Thinking about powdercoating one set mat black or BMW silver. I might look into a set of street tires toyo used to have a m54 that was heavy duty street application. I've had great luck running m55s never tried the 54 would be cool to have a quite street tread and swap on mud terrains in October

Hey gents. So after doing my front brakes, now I have a leak from the LF axle. ? If it's not one thing, it's another. Having said that, how do I change out he seal? Do I REALLY have to pull the front diff cover, along with the ring and pinion? Seems ridiculous. And I don't want to mess with shimming and lashes. Any tips? Thanks

  12. I ordered the Daniel Stern rik-ram kit, and am trying to install it today, but I'm now too confused after reading so meany threads on so many forums. Question no. 1. The DS upgraded wiring schematic shows a general one with truck with only 1 battery. Shouldn't I use both batteries? My Rik-ram kit came with a bag o parts. 3 relays not 4 like other homemade kits. 2. Is my truck a ground switching system or not? (I pull the knob out to turn my lights on). If yes/no, do I still follow that schematic? 3. Do you know/have any pictures of a built harness that I can follow? I would really appreciate a "Chinese Blueprint". Pictures go a long way for this guy... any help would be g…

Thinking I want to get rid of my plastic bed liner which has rubbed paint, etc and get a set of cap rails and either do a diy or some other type of bed liner. Anybody purchased cap rails recently and have an opinion of them? What cap rails are on your truck and if you can post a pic how far do they wrap over (thinking about covering rubbed paint). Also any opinions on DIY spary in bed liners?

I like that. Another tidbit... I've had this happen to a customer truck and it was so simple to fix. If you happen to have o-rings form A/C work or just a o-ring kit you can swap them out in no time flat.

  17. Information Please, Does anyone know if the 1998 Dodge Ram/Cummins Dash light pull switch has a removable trailer wiring harness. Is the trailer wiring harness plug and play. Mine was altered by previous owner. If so can the oem trailer wiring harness be purchased and where? Thank you, Tom.

My vibration damper got gunked up from the puke bottle (did the mod) and my steering wheel vibrates at idle and I need to inspect it. Can the damper be removed by removing the 4 bolts that hold it? Or do I have to remove the fan and fan clutch. Do I have to mark it so it goes back like it came off. What should I use to clean it. Is it all one piece or two parts? Tx.

My truck has a rattle near or in the steering column. I thought this will be easy. Removed most of the plastic on that side. Expected to find a wire bundle rattling on the plastic. Had it apart twice. Any ideas. I know this is a stretch.

Can the dealer tell if you've had a Superchip programmer on the truck if you put it back in stock mode before going to them.
