I think I have this correct but something didn't feel right in the left rear wheel. From the backing plate under the truck and through the adjustment opening I would turn the star wheel upwards correct? Because the adjuster lever on the inside of the drum would push it down to make an adjustment. Is this correct? I googled images but some of the ones I saw didn't say what year the truck was so I thought I would ask.

Is anyone using a Banks exhaust brake and if so what do you think of it? I'm looking for a little help in down hill braking but not something that will overwhelm the transmission. The Banks is less expensive than a PAC or BD E-brake but need to splice in there down pipe. The truck and trailer are under 15,000 pounds.

All Yesterday my parking brake cable failed me. The cable itself did not break, but the metal 'clip' or whatever its called that holds the cable from the tensioner to the cable going forward did. I called my local dealership to get the intermediate cable ordered since it comes with the metal piece I need, however they said it is a discontinued part. After shopping around a few online websites for the part I have not come up with any luck either (Part # 52010321AA). The diagram below is pointing directly at the part I need on # 10. I am hesitant to buy an aftermarket cable again since this part failed me in less than a year already. Does anyone have any i…

It seems as though my fan switch has become a happy face Sad face type of fan switch. It works on high only. I suspect the switch may have failed. I do have AC I do not have heated mirrors. I believe the unit is P/N 55056702AD If anyone has any other thoughts on why that would be awesome.

So I have a 1996 2500, reg cab, auto, 4x4. The body is rusted out I’m wondering can I buy a 1994-2000 1500 2wd and put it on the 2500 frame. And all I would have to do is cut a hole for the transfer case shifter. I was gonna swap all the wiring and the dash. Just wondering who have done. And what am I not thinking about. Thanks!

So my OD hasn't worked in a while and I just had my transmission built a few months ago. Took it to the shop and they said this wire is the reason it's not working. Could this be it? It's a twisted pair wrapped. I haven't found any spot where it could connect to, and I've searched top to bottom. Any help would be appreciated

The other day I noticed my front calipers were rattling around and after a quick look I found that the bottom guide rod bushings had fallen out. I replaced the calipers ~6 months ago so I know the rubber bushings aren’t dry rotted. All the bolts are tight and there is no abnormal wear that I can see. Any idea what could have caused this to happen? This is what the bushings look like. https://www.summitracing.com/parts/dhb-hw5606?seid=srese1&gclid=Cj0KCQiAkePyBRCEARIsAMy5Scv3bFSBEYEsdiEE4aaPXLpv_t15IJVUxQqcwGCP8H7iIcHuCx14kAsaArlKEALw_wcB

Hope this is helpful for y'all. For anyone that has an 00-02 Cummins with dual piston calipers up front and is in the market for front brakes, the 3rd gen brake upgrade is highly recommended. Everything is a direct bolt on. All you need is 03-07 caliper brackets, pads and rotors.. And if you have rear disc, you can do 3rd gen brakes in the rear too. The picture of the pad comparison isn’t my picture(forgot to take one), but shows you how much more surface area there is. And then the 3rd gen rotors are about an 1”+ bigger in diameter. This also requires 17”+ wheels. I went with the Stage 3 EBC Rotor and Pad kit which has drilled and slotted rotors and their Type 7000 Green…

I bought a 1999 2500 / Cummins 5.9, Quad Cab, 8' bed recently with a few issues. I got the engine running and replaced all the brakes (Rotors & Pad up front, Drums, Shoes, & Wheel cyls in the back). The parking brake didn't work when I bought the truck and it still does not work. * I have checked and double checked both rear brakes for assembly errors and found none. * I performed the rear drum brake adjustment with the parking brake cable very loose * I have tried to follow the cable adjustment procedure in the 1998 & 2001 factory service manuals but they really don't make sense. The procedures are essentially the same in the two…

Just acquired a nice bone stock 98 12v and having issues with the fuel gauge. Drove it 1700 miles home so ran a few tankfuls of fuel through it. Seems to be sending unit related as it does fine till 7/8 tank then dances for a while then holds steady from 3/4 through 3/8 tank then dances again. Can’t find the sending unit in stock anywhere. Are there any options? Retrofit another sending unit or fitment of a fuel tank from an early 24v? thanks vin 3B7KF22D1WG106674

Been dealing with some mid 20's temps of late. Fire the truck in the am and the steering pump is moaning and groaning. Thats not to surprising to me since the pump is the OE pump and could stand a fluid change. The weird part is I drive about a mile from the house to get coffee and its moaning and groaning the whole way. Park, get coffee then jump in the truck fire it off and no moaning and groaning, not a sound. Drive 25 miles to the and still nothing. Not complaining but it does seem weird that after a mile of it complaining, all I have to do is shut it down and restart and it quits complaining.

Guys, My Spanish it terrible, but I found this video very informative on how the VP mechanically works on our engines. I wonder who developed this (it looks like bosch, or someone did a really nice job of making solids of everything.) and why there is not an English version. I think most of you will like it. Hag

I have been looking for some cheap 17" wheels and ran across 5 H2 Hummer wheels for $125. The guy had a white rust free rear door for $100 so i got it too. Found a HX35 with 50k on it for $200 shipped. I have to quit spending money on this thing.

Is there a simple way to reduce the two inch lift in the front of my truck to one inch lift? Or should I do it again with one inch spacers? Thanks for any thoughts. I have the adjustable trac bar and saved the factory end links so it's easy that way anyhow.

Anyone have replacement radiator supplier preferences? Mine is leaking at the tank gasket. I don't need a super-duty, haul 25,000 uphill in the desert model.
