Like many others, I got tired of trailer tires barely rated for the load, and even cheaper quality trailer tires. I wanted to upgrade my existing 15" tires but was some what limited by the 6 x 5.5" rims. The goal was to upgrade to 16" wheels but I found the selection of 6 x 5.5" rims max'ed out @ 3200lbs then I came acrossed these: http://www.samsclub.com/sams/greenball-spoke-16x6-white/prod3110109.ip?navAction= They are rated for 3760lbs so you can mount G rated tires on them and NEVER have to worry about blowouts. Better still they only run $43.00 and NO shipping charge. Not much in the way of styling but they are functional. I plan on pairing them with some 23…

Needing new tires for my Jayflight fifth wheel. What do you guys recommend? RV.net forums are big on Maxxis. Tire size is 225x75 r15. --- I am here: http://tapatalk.com/map.php?d1jdci 2003 Ram with gauges and a Smarty! Not much more. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

We just put new brakes on our flat deck. Replaced the whole unit at each wheel and now I can barely get the wheels to skid on gravel. (which is a whole lot better than before) I've pulled other trailers that braked a lot harder so I'm wondering what to troubleshoot? How many volts should be coming from the controller? How critical is brake adjustment on these things? To me it looks like there's a lot of room for movement so it doesn't look like it's too critical. I have a Tekonsha Voyager controller.

I'm purchasing a fifth wheel and it all ready has the axles flipped. Will there be a diference in towing or safety? Is it really needed?

My 5'er is a 2008 Gulfstream. Single 15k rooftop AC unit. Went camping last week and temps were high but ac cooled fine. I have a 50amp hookup in the driveway and the wife sometimes sleeps in the camper when she gets off night shift so the kids don't wake her. Noticed the other night when I cut the AC on for her that the compressor was still running after the temp had been reached and the blower shut off. I turned the AC off at the thermostat. Compressor continues to run for about 20 minutes , shut off for 5 and started running again. I cut it off at the breaker. Tonight I went to turn it on and the compres…

Question how can you power your trailer when you dont have electricity to hook to other than the batteries and you want to turn your a/c ? the guy that sold me trailer said that I need 30 amp to turn the a/c on and that I would be needing a generator to do that is that the only way? or is there way to plug in to the my trucks electricity?

  9. A good topic. My local guy that builds them says it’s cover or not. Sometimes covering just holds the moisture in etc. a roof needs to be resealed from time to time. Every 8-10 years I’m told Also the sides maybe. My 21 year old has been taken apart literally and resealed about ten years ago. Much better sealer than when it was built. Cost about 1600$ not cheap but you can’t let water get in. My slide in is not a normal size so I sent a top notch company in California all the measurements for a custom cover. About $900 not to bad but I didn’t do it. Next spring I’m going to try to get him to coat the top with something so I can get another ten years out out of it. Re…

My trailer was not designed for cold weather use. Both hot and cold waterlines cross the trailer and are not protected. I plan to re-route lines inside the trailer. And maybe even terminate them from going to the bathroom with valves. This would mean no running water in bathroom in winter, but a milk jug will flush toilet. And I don't care about the shower or sink in there. Tub is generally used for storage anyway. ? Even if waterlines are visible in the interior, it'd only be pex pipe. I'd rather see it than have it non functional due to winter shut down. So the hot and cold water at kitchen sink would be functional. Nice features to have. …

  11. A few weeks ago I pulled a buddy's 5'er to the campground for him since his truck was down. Well, long story short, he decided to sell and I bought it. A 1994 coachman 360RK imperial. Very nice camper. Took it out the first time this weekend and we love it. So much space compared to our '89 jayco 29' bumper pull. We camped in Quincy MI. Where my son and his wife have a seasonal spot. My other son came up and we all had a great time with 6 of our 14 grandkids here as well. The camper is an older model but in very good shape. Only issue I'd like to figure out without having to do major mods is the camper is high in front when hooked to my truck (2001 dodg…

I was out unloading a trailer full of firewood the other day and a micro burst of heavy wind came up, and I heard a snap from above somewhere, I didnt even have time to look and see where it was and just took off running I was literally 10’ ft from where the tree fell, it all happened in a matter of seconds, The RV has some extensive structural damage on the roof, worse than the pics reveal, looks like some bent or broke frame members and three tree limbs punctured through the roof. Broken window and siding, thankfully I got full coverage so we will see how it pans out, I don’t know how the fix is going to be but either way this was a spotless clean RV for a 2004 model.…

OK gang.......y'all have seen my new work trailer. I really don't care for the squishy tires on her now. They're "C" rated which means I can put 50psi of air into them, but I'm riding close to the GVW of this trailer now and would like a bit of insurance if at all possible. The tire size on the trailer now is 205/75 15C. They're made by Goodyear......which means they'll last "A Year"...............that's my opinion on GY tires!!!! I know I can get the same tire size in "D" rated tires from my Cooper dealer, as I have them on my old trailer. I was considering jumping up to a 225 sized tire, but I don't know if'n it'll fit in the fender well. I guess I should do some measu…

I like to go down the less traveled roads/ places where time seems not to matter. Most of all I love mountain back roads and love to camp in national forest, hidden away places. Is there a GPS that will give me a decided advantage for this type of traveling?

My furnace exhaust started making a flutter sound. Hearing that while my tool box was open I thought it sounded like a factory label from inside was half stuck flapping inside the exhaust. I noticed a small label blowing against the exhaust screen, grabbed my needle nose pliers and pulled out a label about 1/2X 2 inches. It did not stop the noise of the distinctive fluttering sound. Weird as the sound prompted me to pull this thing out of the exhaust but wasn't the problem. Now this flutter sound outside in the exhaust has not gotten any better and when inside the camper makes a good rumble sound. Anyone know anything to help what to look for/ take…

Well going to close the deal tomorrow and bring home a new to me dump trailer. Been looking for one for several years but trailers hold their value big time around here and never move in price. I have not seen one of these in used condition for less than 6500 for several years so when I saw this one pop up I jumped. Needs a few things, brakes do not work but he thinks due to adjustment and I will do the new to me trailer tune up and repack and set the bearings and inspect the suspension while in there. It is 14' long and plenty big enough to haul my Kubota loader tractor around in now too instead of having to load that little guy on a 30' trailer looked pretty…

Our camping trip was flooded out. Army kicked us out. (USArmy Corps of Engineers, flood control area. Heavy rains, backs up water behind a dam, protecting downstream cities... upstream is a recreation area... weather & water level permitting.) So we were all packed with nowhere to go... so we went on an adventure. A night visiting with In Laws in NH, drove to Rome (NY) to visit my brother, left trailer there. Used wife's car to see the Erie Canal's historic 5 step locks in Lockport, & watch boats locking through the 2 modern locks. Then on to Niagara Falls... I was exhausted (MS) & let wife hike out to get more views. Overnight in a Hotel. Rainy d…

Hi guys, I was wondering about the installation of 5th wheel hitches on the 2002 3500 duallies - are there any specific problems to watch out for? I have taken a barely used hitch out of my '86 F250 and want to install it in the Dodge. I do have the spray in Rhino liner in the box if that matters at all. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance mariner

The trailer I bought came with an Eaz lift. It came with 500# bars. How do you size the bars? Gross trailer weight is 7,000# and 23' in length.
