Destroyed a turbo with a hose clamp
I was in the BHAF. I've found all the piece of the hose clamp the two thumb tabs and the ring itself. After slinging it around a enough time it spit it back up into the BHAF. But I might not of seen the ring fall out when I pulled the tube off. But the 2 thumb tabs were inside the BHAF.

Underhood hygiene
My irrigation system is about 116 PSI at the hose and does a wonderful job of cleaning all the grease and grime off the engine. This allows me to keep track of oil leaks and where they are coming from. Everytime the truck gets washed the engine and all the underside is rinsed off too.

Fire Call: Vehicle in the river
Hey Gang...I got called out for a fire call tonight. Basically it was a local woman driving home from work and fell asleep at the wheel. Make matters even more interesting the total trip from town to her house is about 5 miles and she was less that 0.1 from home where she went in at. She was not hurt but the vehicle is totalled. So why I'm posting this I know lot of you drive long distances at times. Please... If your not feeling good or just not firing on all 6 cylinder please make a phone call and get a ride home. No sense in getting hurt or damaging your vehicle just because you going to push those last few miles home. I'm posting this because I care about all you and don't want to see you get hurt.

Alternator Charging Question
Yeah replace the diodes. That's what filters out the noise and the diodes are just wore out or poor quality. You might be able to get just the diodes from alternator shop and do it yourself. Also you might double check with a high quality meter if you don't have one. Fluke or similar should be accurate. A good alternator like my two truck got are between 0.02 and 0.03 Volts AC.

Destroyed a turbo with a hose clamp
Well I'm going to get a good night's sleep and then get up tomorrow and give the ol' girl a proper cleaning and shining up. Knock off the winter grime and get ready for nice day ride to Ontario, OR or Boise, ID in the next day or so.

Destroyed a turbo with a hose clamp
This tale is all but closed now. I got my rebuilt turbo about 2pm this afternoon from theBrown Man. Dropped everything grabbed the box and shot pictures of my pretty new turbo. So I prompty packed up and hauled down to the shop. During assembly all fasteners where coated in a liberal coating of anti-seize. Install my new BHAF not to risk the thought of debris in the old filter ruining the new turbo. I still got to drill my hole for the filter minder later. So to prime the turbo with oil I pull the fuel pump relay and cranked on the engine till oil pressure was shown on the gauge. Then plugged in the relay and fire it up. Music to my ears! The Cummins is back in action again. So I rolled it outside and proceeded to clean up tools and things while the truck idled and warmed up. 5-10 minutes later I hopped in and rolled down the road toward the fire house light and easy keeping boost mellow. Turned around head back for the house and on got it a bit and 2nd gear the tires broke loose. Shifted to 3rd got into again and tires barked. The butt dyno was happy as hell. Came back home left it idling. Paint was burning off the exhaust housing. Checked for oil leaks and all was good. So I grab some tools and my jacket and hauled for town. Oh man is so nice to have the beast back. So after a trip to town and playing I came back installed the whistle ring and change over to my 235's tires since winter snow is fading away fast here. Went for another test run and damn truck keeps breaking the tires loose if you get into the throttle in either 2nd or 3rd gears... So I'm extremely happy.

Problems with 2001 24V
Yes across the battery terminals. Look at your DC volts then flip right over to AC volts it should not be above 0.1 volts.

That it will. But you might lose a bit of MPG from it.

02 cummins into 00
The only thing to verify is the sensors. (Cam or Cam/Crank) I can never remember which year that crank sensors ended. But there was a change in the tone wheel on the cam when the crank sensor was obsoleted.W&F is right you want to swap the ECM over too.

Destroyed a turbo with a hose clamp
I got ahold of GOS performance and had them track down my turbo. It's suppose to be on the brown truck tomorrow. So I'm getting all warm and fuzzy about this I can finally get the truck rolling again...

Excessive blow-by after injector pump replacement
I won't go there I'm sure ISX would gladly mount his camera under the truck to show you that. As for blow by typically it increase with boost pressure just the way things are. But I would say it going to be the vacuum lines are off first. If that all checks out then next step would be doing a compression test to verify the cylinder health.

Problems with 2001 24V
I typically use a high quality DVM like a Fluke or similar. check you DC volts then flip to AC and see if its over 0.1 Volts AC if its higher its a fail. http-~~-//www.youtube.com/watch?v=UveGtGuswBw

True Jake Coming Soon for the Cummins
Dumb question here. Could someone explain why they would hold open the exhaust valve? I thought it was to hold closed the valve to create pressure to create braking force like the exhaust brake? Someone school me on this... :shrug:EDIT: Nevermind I found my own answer...
