  1. Smarty... It's causing the error code... If you reset to stock and clear the codes you'll be fine... But as soon as you run a Smarty program the error will show up... Of course because you modifying the stock fueling tables in the ECM and the checksum doesn't match any longer...
  2. Fuel pressure... (Idle and WOT operation at highway speed).
  3. Reason being is because all them are produced from Naptha (coleman fuel), Mineral Spirits (paint thinner), Napthalene (moth balls), Xylene (paint thinner) all of these have much lower BTU content compared to the diesel fuel. Just look up the MSDS sheet on any of them...
  4. Well this week I plan on hitchin' up and hauling out... But out here in Idaho everything is either up and down or twisting roads. So getting to 55 MPH is about all I can muster without getting crazy. I've got a killer video I just shot yesterday I need to finsh editing and get uploaded to YouTube but its from Grangevile, ID to close to Lucile, ID showing the Whitebird Grade (7%) and the Salmon River at high water... Video coming soon...
  5. Glad it was a easy fix...
  6. As for the white smoke (I'm going to be honest..) It not a good sign typically if you check you might find a P0216 error code which happens to be a death code for the VP44 injection pump. This goes hand in hand with the fuel pressure if the pressure is too low it causes this damage to occur. As for the black smoke it could be the wastegate, boost leak, or a plugged up air filter. (Lack of air - Boost) typically a boost gauge is handy for figuring this out. So you got a few things to check fuel pressure and error codes... As for the fuel pressure we need both idling anf WOT operation at highway speeds.
  7. Sounds like a time to grab a can of expanding foam and fill those gaps. Stuff with steel wool first but put a layer of foam over it...
  8. Ouch... Well take care of yourself and we'll keep your spot here warm for ya... If you can get your wife (or friend) keep us updated... Get yourself fixed up...
  9. Correct... If the fuel is uncontrolled into the cylinder as the cylinder goes into compression stroke it pushes the fuel past the rings and into the oil. Common rail engines are know for this issue if not delt with quickly it will take the rings out and create some serious blowby... @ OP... As for the connector tube if its loose it typically leaks out on the manifold of the head more so than into the return rail typically. Unless there is a damaged connector tube and its not sealing then there would be the leakage into the return rail but typically get a misfire with it as well...
  10. Addition to the diesel owners... Avoid using BioDiesel and cetane boosters if you can for the same reason...
  11. More information coming on the tires... I'll get pics of this stuff...
  12. Sounds like possible air leak... Boost fooler of the Edge Module is not functional... Do to the fact the Edge can't hook to the ECM. 20 PSI is undocumented high pressure lmit being that stock lift pumps out of the box could reach 15-16 PSI a extra 4-5 PSI is not going to hurt. But now exceeding 20 PSI you might run into hard starting issues... If the injectors are hung up and not sealing you won't see extra smoke but you might actually see a rise in oil levle and smell of diesel fuel in the engine oil. As for the ECM is most likely shot if a tech can't hook to it and it won't do you any good if the Edge can't hook to it.
  13. Thank you! Relentless70 I thought you forgot about it... No scales out in the woods but in all the hauling I've done I rarely get to my overload springs...
  14. Then something is wrong with the ABS controller or other wiring... Since a OBDII code reader will do nothing for ya you kind of at the mercy of the dealer and letting them plug there DRBIII tool in so that can see the error code on the ABs computer...
  15. ECM controls the lift pump so I'm not sure... As for the truck I'm sure it can be fixed... But what I would do is start from the ground up and change every fluid and filter on the truck ASAP. This way you know whats in it and the condition. As for the fuel I would run that tank down as low as possible and drop the tank and check the contents for water, dirt, etc... Really hate to see you fuel system filled up with road dirt... But yes get the hose changed too...
  16. Ouch... Not to bad but now in days money is not plentiful...
  17. As for power steering pump most time its just replaced as a unit. As for removal remove the entire assembly from the gear case and work with outside the engine area is must easier than working in the engine area on only the power steering unit. As for preventing pump failure is simple do the required power steering fluid changes every 30K miles and they will ast a very long time.
  18. I tend to agree with Dripley... I think your pressure gauge has a damaged sender being the pressure is so high. Also there is no snubber or needle valve on the sender the gauge should not snap to 25 PSI like that that shows your not dampening the water hammer so more than likely the pressure gauge is wrong and damaged...
  19. All 4 rims should be down in Payette, ID scrap yard now... As for replacement I ordered a set of 4 aluminum modular rims 16x7 and a set of 235/85 R16 (14 Ply). As for what they exactly look like well you could head over to Big O Tires and look up the modular rims...
  20. No bio around me... I've got to haul to a big city to even find some...
  21. No leaks... The cracks where on the inside bead where you wouldn't normally see it. But 3 wheels had at least 3-5 cracks a piece in them... But 1 wheel was absolutely fine... Go figure...
  22. Too late now there on there way to the recycle center in Payette today... I guess there is no pics either... I was hoping my buddy would got pics of them and posted up...I did want to truck home grab the camera shot a few pics and then truck them back to New Meadows, ID 40 mile round trip for pics... Oh well...
  23. I didn't any pics of mine... ( I know I'm usually good about that!) :banghead:
  24. Already got 2 sets of steel wheels now...
