  1. Shocks and tire balance are the first two I would chase.
  2. It might be attempting to use the VP44 for the tach signal. Both the VP44 have a tone wheel and then the tone wheel on the crank. The cam sensor is only a TDC marker that's all. In the 2000 to 2002 Dodge trucks only have a cam sensor. Which is just a relocated crank sensor. 98.5 and 99 Dodge's crank tone wheel.
  3. Not necessary, you would have to visually look into the crank sensor hole and see if it is present. A bad crank sensor will not produce a crank signal either so it's a possibility. Then if the wiring between the crank sensor and the ECM is damaged it could prevent the signal to get to the ECM. This is not a voltage but a type of sinewave that the ECM counts the pulses and can calculate the RPM by count and time. Most likely the sensor is bad if there is a code for the pressure sensor. There is a voltage issue there is out of range so the oil pressure sensor code.
  4. You are just running off the VP44. Without the data link, there is no way to pass throttle information, timing information, etc. If you look up hot wiring the VP44 if you supply power to the VP44 and no other wires it will start and idle but you'll have zero control over the engine without the datalink wires. No the truck will not run without the crank signal being the VP44 will be forced off, the ECM assumes the engine stalled so power to the VP44 is cut off. This is a safety system to prevent the fuel system from pumping fuel when the vehicle has been in an accident. It shuts down both the lift pump and the VP44 if the crank signal is lost or absent.
  5. How to test... Press the trip button down and turn the key on but don't start. Now when the word "Chec" shows up in the odometer display release the trip button it will test all the functions of the cluster. After the test, it will display 9xx codes in the display if anything is wrong. As for the tach make sure your crank sensor is good. Then the really weird one you might have to pull the crank sensor and check to see if the tone wheel is still on the crank. I've seen where the screw of the tone wheel fall out and the tone wheel got mashed up on the crank and landed in the oil pan. The truck will not start if there is no crank signal. PCM and CTM have little impact on starting the truck. If you have a key fob which you don't being you have a standard CTM there is no security feature to disable the truck. So the PCM and CTM could be removed and the truck will still start. Being the ECM can be used as a standalone module and the engine would start and run. So this brings it back to why is there no tach signal which could be... Bad crank sensor Bad crank sensor wiring back to the ECM Tonewheel fell off the crank
  6. Standard CTM since it's only a single plug. If you want to shut up the chime just put a piece of duct tape over the chime holes.
  7. First off check the OBDII socket and make sure your pins haven't push out back. There is two bus line of SCI and CCD buses. Make sure your making connection. If the PCM was having issue communicating it of toss a error code and No Bus message in the odometer.
  8. Now let me ask... Which did you tighten first? Injector or the lines? Lines are to be tighten first before injectors. This allows the injectors to move a bit to line up the crossover tubes in the injector sockets and make the best seal.
  9. Cetane booster all REDUCE btus of the fuel. Light green is winter fuel and dark green is summer fuel. So adding more anti gel and/or cetane booster is only going to make things worse.
  10. Go to the articles in the 2nd Gen 24V and look at the 99 wiring map it complete. Has power window wiring.
  11. Does the truck have a key fob? If the security system is up it will not start. Second, without any tach signal to the dash means no tach signal to the PCM. Being the ASD (auto shut down) relay is controlled by the PCM may be going to allow it to run till the tach signal is seen. In another example 97 12V I had lost the crank signal since the engine is mechanical but the alternator will not turn on till the tach is seen by the PCM. The same is true on the 2nd Gen 24V. Since the entire fuel system on the 24V is electrical there is a safety system that relies on the tach signal to start both VP44 and lift pump also if you are in an accident then when the engine does the ECM can shut down both the lift pump and VP44 so it does not just pump fuel into a possible fire.
  12. Why? More anti-gel you add the lower the BTUs per gallon. All anti-gel has cetane booster. More you add the less power the fuel will have. Also it would be a waste of money if you have good supply fuels that are treated properly. Now you also have to remember being xylene which is a PPD also it raising HFRR scores and increasing wear. This is another battle where people want to mix 2 cycle oil and anti-gel products. Which you shouldn't do because they negate each other. 2 cycle oil is a cetane reducer and anti-gel is cetane booster. Anti-gel uses solvent to prevent gel fuel but also breaks down lubricity of the fuel and 2 cycle oil. Hence why I rather have good fuel source than playing with several products to fix bad pour point which now creates bad lubricity of fuel which now you need to fix to prevent VP44 wear and injector wear. Not that easy...
  13. If there is no tach signal it will not start. The ECM requires tach signal to turn on fuel to the VP44. If it early 2nd Gen it will be a crank sensor, late it will be cam sensor.
  14. This is why I only purchase VP44s from a source that I know comes from a Bosch Certified rebuilder. There is a lot of rebuilders that reuse old PSG and don't recalibrate the pumps.
  15. There is no IAT on the injection pump I can promise you that... The only things in that pump are an RPM sense and fuel temp that's all. Externally is the fuel solenoid and the timing solenoid. Nothing else...
  16. Yeah and no... Personally, I don't have a lot in the bank. Yes, it bothers me to know that CBDC (Central Bank Digital Currency) is discussing the digital dollar that can be controlled by the government. Truth is that other countries already tried this and the country revolted against their own government and that system failed. I know that precious metals (gold and silver) are going to have way more value in the near future. Do you wonder where I'm finding this information? How about the very platform that the US Govt is attempting to ban, TikTok? The reason why the US Govt wants to ban TikTok is that TikTok is owned by China and the US Govt can't stop the supply of information coming from private people here in the USA. The secret is out and news of the coming bank collapse is occurring in real-time. You might know about SVB (Silicone Valley Bank) but there are several more banks ready to go under. There are already bank runs on several California banks and it just going to get worse as time goes on. The stock market is going to dive most likely in the weeks to come and the value of the dollar is going to dive as well. Being I'm mult-purpose person I can go about anywhere to find a job. I've got things I can trade for money or food. Just consider that when it falls apart there will be no bills or any way to pay for bills so be prepared for things like the Internet, Power, Phone service, etc being cut being there are no banks there is no way to pay for bills or for even a company to receive monies for bills. Then you look at the Fair Tax law coming they want to abolish the IRS and Income tax. I've looked it up and it's been introduced and on the table for discussion in the Gov't. Example.
  17. Gotta keep trying you'll find the info. Another trick I started visiting fuel stations and identified as a volunteer firefighter and asked politely for information about fuels and products then asked for the MSDS sheets of the products so I could do research for our fire dept and help with training. Yup, I got everything I wanted. It's a requirement by law that all hazardous materials sold in a business must have these documents. Some vendors might have them on their website if you dig deep enough. Showing summer fuels and winter fuels. Like Cennex has PPD sold in 55-gallon drums which when I looked it up was Xylene yup paint thinner. So if you reading MSDS sheets you can check the volume of PPD or if listed as Xylene which is very common out here. Yup, I've done my homework.
  18. With a flux capacitor at 88 MPH yup I would most likely have triple digit MPGs and roll back odometer's.
  19. Ah... I'm smart enough to catch fuel delivery trucks and talk to the driver. Like I found out that Maverik Fuels in McCall the delivery driver doubles the dose of PPD (Pour Point Depressant). Typically when he delivers down in Boise ID they only add half of the PPD. I'm always doing my research and talking to people to get facts. Hence why I've never had to use Anti Gel Products.
  20. No. My MPGs will be triple digits. Keep guessing.
  21. How about 461k miles (21 years) and never used any antigel products? I don't even have a bottle even in the shop. Seen winter temperatures as low as -40°F and never had any issues.
  22. You are just as bad as @Honey Badger she blames me for all the snow that is coming. I'm used to seeing at least 2 to 3 feet in my yard but right now I got like 2 inches of snow and more mud. Now at @Honey Badger house in Lake Fork which is about 40 miles from here, they just got another 1.5 feet of snow. She calls it spring storms I call it winter yet. Spring storms here are heavy downpour rain storms. By April I can fire up my water system again. McCall / Lake Fork will be in the freezer till nearly June. Just depends where you live and the elevation you live at. Here is 2,860 feet and Lake Fork is just barely 5,000 feet.
