  1. Diesel fuel just crossed 6.00 dollars a gallon here in Idaho. Washington state in Seattle was 6.279 a gallon just last week.
  2. 7 x0.010 injectors from DAP custom pop pressure at 320 bar. Then running stock HX35W turbo. Might look at my economy tune, it designed around the MPG so it not producing serious power till 20 PSI of boost. This is pretty mild on the bottom end. Even if you run 245/75 R16 tires it takes a lot of stress of the transmission and driveline being the final ratio is 3.69:1. One of the biggest killers for 47RE transmission is oversize tires. Oversized tires might look cool but but bad final ratios put huge amount of stress on the transmission. Example: 37 inch tires on 3.55 gears will produce a final ratio of 3.00:1. For sure a transmission killer. Keep in mind I've managed to snap the main shaft on NV4500 with Edge Comp and +75 HP injectors. Just remember I went to Cally hauling my 31 foot RV and still running my stock HX35W turbo. No EGT issues hauling 17,500 pounds. Went with @IBMobile and @JAG1. Then just went to Everett WA with @Honey Badger and pulled 300 miles across Washington state and barely burn a quarter tank. (Seattle,WA to Idaho state line)
  3. Yeah not to bad. Just got to dive in and fix the issues one at a time. At least it got cooling fans for now. Like the axle stub that isn't too bad. Smaller version of the truck axle. What does kind of upset me is people making false claims of big failures when it simple shade tree repairs. Now it just a matter of getting funds together on honey badger side and for me to install said parts. Even worse is fixing a shade tree repair that welding parts together.
  4. Well I had a run to head up and look at @Honey Badger Mom's Jeep nothing really wrong just battery is weak security system tripping. Then locking out the ignition. Just unlock the drivers door with the key and its disarmed again as long as you dont leave the key in the vehicle. There was a family member that told her the catalytic converter was bad, nope there is a hole in the pipe near the catalytic converter. Misinformed and lead to believe big money repairs. We took a break and ran with @Honey Badger jeep out Red Ridge to pick some mushrooms. Her jeep started to heat up. Fan weren't working. Her past boyfriend hacked up the entire fan circuit to make a wiring nightmare. Did a few modification on the dirt road and presto had at least key on fans. Drove back to her place. Now I parked right next to Thor and started working. Test light chr king fuses, found the factory fan plug. Tested got signal. Now I know I need a new pigtail. In the meantime to keep it going added a ring terminal for the ground to negative post. +12V I tucked in on the fan relay on the 87 pin. Fired it up and let idle it would get to the 210°F mark and kick the fan on drop to right about 200°F and shut off. Perfect. Found a power steering hose bleeding through the jacket of the hose slowly. She mention some welding on axle. Found it someone changed the wheel joint and crushed the outer stub some so the clip would fit so they welded the bearing caps in. Now ive got to pull that axle out cut the turnion out and discard the outer stub and replace the wheel joint. Rear shocks are toast. Really she has been misinformed about the amount of work and repairs like needing a whole new front differential.
  5. @Dynamic is a good guy to ask those questions with him.
  6. If I had more time I would of stayed and had the beer and a chat session... But time was not on my side and had a a ways to go and others that had to return home too...
  7. Good example... Stock HX35W turbo DAP +150 HP injectors Quadzilla with my economy tune 245/75 R16 tires Only used slightly more than quarter tank to cross the entire state of Washington right to the Idaho border. 299.5 miles. Filled in Seattle at 6.279.
  8. Speed limit. Interstate I ran 70MPH. Other highways ranged 60 to 65 MPH. Again I can pull good fuel mileage. No oversized tires, no lift kits, proper final ratio, and just the Quadzilla to manage timing and fuel. Still running my HX35W turbo and 150 injectors average EGTs was about 500 to 550 most of the trip. In Seattle I had turn down to level 2 the concrete highways were slick I could break the rear tire loose just squeezing light on the throttle. When it was really rainy I ran 4WD to reduce the slipping. No CAD axle either. Oh diesel was 6.279 when I got fuel. The whole trip cost 250 in fuel. This is round trip. Started in Lewiston ID for 100 and went all the way to Everett WA and back to Seattle to fill for 150. Then came home.
  9. I just drove across the entire state of Washington from Seattle to Idaho border for only bit more than a quarter tank.
  10. Not... Actually @MoparMom would of been the great one for these times.
  11. Another trip I filled up in Seattle WA and drove to the Idaho border... 299.5 miles and only burned a bit more than 1/4 tank. Three people on board and luggage.
  12. I'm changing my mode of operation here even no longer going to be working on gas powered vehicles. I'm only going to focus on Dodge / Ram Cummins Diesel here here forth. Being dealing with people that owe on bills. @Honey Badger has stepped up and handling billing. I'm reducing my overhead by switching back to just diesels more so from home. If there is travel it going to have a price per mile. I'm also going to be picky about my rescue calls. I'm going to gear more so around website work and working from the shop. Personally I've been gather can goods and other dry food stuff.
  13. Injection pump either work or don't. Not just 3 cylinders only. The only way to run on 3 cylinders is 3 cylinder high idle but typically only the rear 3 cylinders. Since only the first 3 are running I would pull all injectors and be pop tested. I've seen new injectors fail either pop pressure fell low or the nozzle cracks. This could be the issue since the VP44 is pump it just means the injectors are not firing because of mechanical issues. If it was me I would pull a 6 injectors and do a compression test on all 6 cylinders being bad rings or cylinder issues could prevent good ignition quality. I've seen members with a cracked piston pass a blow by test. So the only good way to test is compression. Yeah its common for the rear cylinders to take damage being 4, 5, and 6 are hotter than 1, 2, and 3.
  14. Currently watch graduation for @Honey Badger youngest son.
  15. All the places I listed are about 6,000 foot elevation comparing to Mono Village which is 7,500 feet. More back country and less limitations like Mono Village. You can ride ATVs etc.
  16. What do you expect from me? I built everything on Beast for longevity. This is why ball joint issues are not present. Brakes last long time because with the exhaust brake i rarely use my brake pedal. 445k miles and still rolling. Even today in Everett, WA. Heck I just did the trip to Cally with @IBMobile and @JAG1.
  17. I used AC Delco ball joints and still going. Still good. Drilled and slotted tend to crack more often being the slots and drilled holes make it weaker. Best bet is a exhaust brake I go 250k miles on a set of brakes.
  18. Use a GPS to track mileage. Error correction math never works. Better yet to have the ABS corrected for proper speed and odometer.
  19. There is Goose Lake (outside of McCall) you camp alone the lake edge. There is Upper Payette Lake (outside of McCall) you can camp for a small fee. Hazard Lake is a bit more advanced for travel. About 25 miles back on dirt road is Hazard Lake (outside of McCall). The road is rough and dusty also you climb in elevation.
  20. I remember @cajflynn installed a Hamilton Cam and he said he loved the power change. I don't remember exactly the style of cam.
  21. Thanks. Travel has been good. Just getting through Seattle WA sucked it bumper to bumper traffic. Part that sucks my left foot I bruised or something before the trip and man after getting through Seattle my foot is killing me now working that Valair dual disk. Truck used just bit more than 1/2 a tank going from Lewiston ID to Everett WA
  22. @Honey Badger and I made a road trip to Everett WA to see her youngest son graduate. Just a wild experience is to be heading down I90 west. I just barely seen the dust cloud and a pickup hit the center median. Then a tire was bouncing down across said median into the road coming towards last second managed to just miss it. I've seen plenty of youtube videos but to actually see this happen is unreal.
  23. I would do the testing for either the P0237 or P0238 codes. Basically the test would verify the wire from sensor to ECM for all three wires (+5, sensor, GND). The the next test is wire to ground. It should show infinite ohms or (open connection). Your also going to verify the 5V signal and verify its correct value of 5.00 Volts. The ground signal has to be verified be sure there is something to bias the signal from ground. If that all passes with flying colors then the sensor or the ECM is to blame. The sensor uses the 5V and variable voltage with ground bias. Either the sensor is lazy and failed within specs or the ECM is not sensing the voltage correctly.
  24. I would guesstimate about 800 foot pounds at the flywheel being conservative.
