  1. 2 Cycle Oil replaces the lubricity lost in the ULSD. It also tends to reduce cetane down and increase BTU content. Increasing cetane make the MPG numbers lower this is the big reason why winter time MPG fall is because BTU content is gone. Dark green summer and light green is winter Bosch requirements for lubricity. Remember US Diesel is ~520 HFRR score.
  2. Thing is over on the RV forum I moderate on the Ford trucks (diesel and gas) and Ford Ecoboost are the most popular truck out there. Funny part is Dodge Cummins truck are the least most popular truck in the RV forums. Next is Chevy just below the Ford. Now not to bash on Ford solely I can nit pick about Dodge, Chevy and Ford all the same. Each have their issues but I have to draw the line at lifting the body off to do a head gasket. Dodge isn't too much better now with the newer 6.7L EGR cooler, DPF, etc...
  3. Mostly smog equipment. Here have slice of this... I though VP44 replacements where bad check this out...
  4. Like Mike's post above the dealer and shop like to modify a good electrical system because of a issue. You got to ask yourself the question how come the truck ran 10-12 years now without this mods and why does it need it now? This why I tell people to pull that stuff back out and see the problem is still there and masked by the cheap band-aid. Kind of like you JAG1 you doctor covers over the problem will a pill. Why not fix the actual problem?
  5. First off the only ground you need to worry about is the passenger side ground cable. That is the master ground for the ECM, PCM and VP44. The rest of the body grounds are all secondary circuits like lights ,horn, etc. Never adjust the voltage to the tag value. Always leave it BELOW that value by at least 0.1 volts and use the set screws. If the APPS doesn't have a tag it most likely a Timbo's APPS and there is no voltage to set. Shift issues is a alternator problem. Do not add grounds or wires to the PCM they are NOT needed. http://articles.mopar1973man.com/2nd-generation-24v-dodge-cummins/26-engine-systems/37-apps-sensor-voltage-adjustment http://articles.mopar1973man.com/2nd-generation-24v-dodge-cummins/26-engine-systems/39-timbos-apps-installing http://articles.mopar1973man.com/2nd-generation-24v-dodge-cummins/28-transmission-systems/260-torque-converter-lock-unlock-issues
  6. I've only reach 27.2 MPG once. But typically I see... 16-18 MPG @ 65 MPH 19-21 MPG @ 60 MPH 22-24 MPG @ 55 MPH Now towing the RV... 11-12 MPG @ 60 MPH 12-14 MPG @ 55 MPH
  7. Look at the passenger side cable. Drive side has nothing but body grounds.
  8. Copy and paste this... www.youtube.com/watch?v=WGnEuGwvXqU
  9. No. It to just pass EPA / CARB regulations. Just look at even Wild & Free's post about the DPF and EGR delete even the VW's have a good amount of junk piled on.
  10. Looks like you had a debris issue. Really possibly when filling the oil filter during oil change. Anything that gets into that center holes while you pouring oil in the filter will be instantly sent to the oil cooling jets and/or the bearings. Possibly a oil filter went into bypass mode because of over extending oil changes? Cheap oil filter?
  11. You got to listen to the audio...
  12. OK. Show me the heads? Even with the body off I still can't see the heads. This is a Ford 6.4L
  13. Your is functional... But just above the box... Your signature may contain: • Up to 1 images • Images up to 468 x 60 pixels • Up to 1 URLs • Up to 1 lines
  14. Very impressive! Wow! You need to make that write up. I want to build one soon!
  15. Ford's have to lift the body off to just do any head work. There isn't enough room under the hood to do it. So the body has to be lifted to access the engine.
  16. Working on it. I got to figure out what has been altered in the software since the update.
  17. It shows you have permission to have 1 line of signature. But when I check your account its indeed missing the tab for signature. I think this problem stem back from my last update to the software. Give me a bit of time I'll have to dig to the bottom of this.
  18. I've been wait for the owner it get the funds and get the parts which I now have all them.
  19. Stock engine is good for 35-40 PSI of boost before head work or studs are required. Stock turbo on the other hand are limited to 30-32 PSI for HY35 and 35 PSI for HX35. As for the square cm number that is the square cm of the exhaust opening to the turbine. Slower open means less lag but more back pressure and higher EGT's. Larger opening is has more lag, less EGT's and back pressure. I've seen several documented cases of Cummins ISB engine making at round 100 PSI of boost and holding together. Lots of mods required to get there though... Need really deep pockets. No problem. Sometimes I don't see the humor in post I take thing to literal. Hard to see human expression in words at times. As for trade secrets I'm trying to kill the secret part. I hate that...
  20. Follow the mouse pointer.. Click your name then select settings. Then click the signature tab.
  21. Well I do have a guest house but I don't think you would want to stay there. I get up early to get work done before the heat of the day so to get to the shop you have to pass through the guest house. Like next week I've got a Subaru to install valve cover gaskets and a A/C compressor. Bed and breakfast? Oh, heck no... MoparMom might cook breakfast for you... Soap on a rope? That's why the RV slot... Park your own house on wheels. I'll supply power, water and even RV dump.
  22. I bet that runs so much better with the new exhaust system in it. Man... That a lot of junk hanging on the back of a engine. I'm reminded of the pass every time we move forward. I remember the days of catalytic converters and the start of electronic vehicles. It was a mess back in the 80's. Here we are again with diesel vehicles going through the same phase of DPF and EGR just like back in the 80's. Eventually this will be sorted out.
  23. My legal name is Michael S. Nelson... As for my background I've got a degree is computer and electronic science from ITT Tech, Van Nuys CA. https://www.linkedin.com/in/mopar1973man As for diesel knowledge I've never been to any school or anything I just learned on my own. I'm NOT ASE certified. Thank Gawd... As for knowledge I keep studying every time I hit the wall with a issue or problem. If there is a unknown I look for answers. Like look back at P7100 pump or VE pumps there is documents every where on how to work on them. But VP44 is a big hidden mystery don't touch it your not allowed. BS! I own this vehicle I want to know more. If you ever show up here I would be able to show you all the electronic books on Bosch stuff and service manuals I got. There is so much data here on one machine about Cummins Diesels.
