  1. Ummm... Err... Ummm... I've had one last year where I could tell the chimney was starting to choke right in December but it just snowed so I hung in tight. Next morning I built a fire and wasn't long and smoke was rolling back in the house. So now I'm shutting down the stove and waiting for midday and hoping to climb a slick roof. What I found was the creosote piled up in the exposed chimney area (the coldest part) and created a flap from the side wall that got warm with the starting fire and fall over shut and plugged the chimney completely. Mine wasn't as bad as the video. My build up depth is about 2-3 foot of the top and the rest is smooth and clean below. I don't have any stains. But on occasion I get chunks of creosote that dropped on the roof. Thankfully I've got a steel roof. Funny thing is I re-stoked the fire and now its so flippin' hot in here its like summer time all over again. Ugh. Should of like the darn thing go out.
  2. Between these two test compression and fuel line loosening will give you two different test pointing to the same cylinder. Like I was explaining to Tyler is that if you at least have two different test showing the failed cylinder then you know where to start at.
  3. MoparMom was the one that got me to buy the first camera which began the adventure in web site development and the birth of www.mopar1973man.com. Well after 10 years of service my old Fuji FinePix served me well so it was kind of a shocker to hit a camera shop and find out that the shop suggested another Fuji FinePix again just a updated version. So now I can do wildlife photos now that where impossible to do with the old Fuji. Just didn't have the zoom to get the job done. Now with the new Fuji I've been experimenting with lighting, close ups, zoom, and combinations of things and wow! What a difference. No longer have to stuff a camera down in a dark hole and hope the flash and focus can do the job. Now I can stand back zoom in and all the features of the camera are aiding in producing a OK picture. Of course auto everything is just going to get you by. But I'm impressed with the power of the camera.
  4. Who would know I get to work on such beautiful vehicles that are mostly all original. There are a few that he bought that are modified but still clean and straight vehicles. Few hot rods in there I'm just waiting for the day when he fires some up in the summer and goes for a ride... As for his daily driver it happens to be a 2000 Dodge Ram 2500 5.9L V8 Gasser with a 47RE transmission. Already worked on that rig did a manifold gasket and plenum gasket. Then his work / tow vehicle I think is a 2006 Ford Powerstroke 6.0L nice truck.
  5. We've started installing LED flood lighting on the fire truck. So far I'm very impressed with the flood lights.
  6. Yes. You want it return to the module. This returns more fuel right and the suction tip preventing the 1/4 problem. Ask Eric at Vulcan Performance if he has a way to resolve the old filler neck or cap for JIC.
  7. I might have to pick your brain and get a few pointers for shooting pictures. You've got a heck of a camera as well
  8. I've got my little flip phone too. Not bad for pictures really just too much trouble to hook up with bluetooth dongle to download the pictures.
  9. Well as for myself. I started out with a simple pen camera a long time ago which was nothing more than 0.3 Megapixel. Dumb thing only cost me like $30 bucks this was like years ago. Then back when I started the web site I purchased a bit better camera which I've used for over 10 years now to bring all my photos to the web site. It's a Fuji FinePix A205 which I've got a massive 256 MB xD Picture Card. So here in the next few day is my birthday... Yea... I'm going to be 44 years old as of October 26. I finally decided to upgrade cameras now. I've now got Fuji FinePix HS30 EXR. So I'm wonder what you all are shooting pictures with... So here is what I had... To now what I'll be using... http://www.fujifilm.com/products/digital_cameras/s/finepix_hs30exr/
  10. Well just a bit of secret I've got going and I'll let you guys in on it. Since I started working with Lindy doing automotive work for him, I found out about our landlord and his pile of classic cars. So I was introduced to him his name happens to be named Mike too. Well now that I've been working with Lindy since July and Mike has warmed up to me. Mike's got me helping out with working on his classic cars. So, I get to work on some real classic cars and a few custom hotrods too...
  11. No problem... It just my house was built back in 1960's and the existing chimney is old cinder block and clay brick liner. Now stuffed a 6" stainless chimney insert into it has helped but doesn't fix the cold weather months problem it seem like every year around Dec/Jan it start to plug up even though my chimney pyrometer hits 1,600*F and then cooks at about 800-1000*F all day long. But the top of the chimney you can put you hand over the top and its not that warm at all. So it cools quite a bit between the stove and the roof. Which is about 20 some odd feet.
  12. Sad to say I can buy 3 sets (6 bulbs) of Silverstar Halogens for the same price. Price has to come down more before I consider this...
  13. Insider tip... Vulcan Performance provides plumbing pieces for AirDog (I'm pretty sure also FASS too!) So for all your fuel plumbing needs he is the place to go to.
  14. Keep the information coming guys any write ups or pictures would be good.
  15. I've used them in the past just make sure to check tire pressure. I've seen where the extender will leak over time a hose or seal gives up and you end up with a inner dual flat.
  16. All good... Not meant to attack you either...
  17. Well as for dash removal I'm pretty sure I won't have too much issue I don't think. I've had mind swung out for the air conditioning and heater core project twice so I don't thing it would be too bad to get the top panel off. When you say the screws dash outlets which do you mean the face vents of defrosters vents?
  18. I'll keep that knowledge in the back of my head now... Thanks!
  19. I agree I would rather run full 1/2". Both 3/8 and 1/2 will work but the pressure is more stable on 1/2 lines that 3/8" so there is less pressure fall from idle WOT on 1/2" lines typically.
  20. May I ask if you a tester now for Smarty?
  21. First off select the mode you want BEFORE starting. Then start the truck. Leave the switch set don't change till your ready to roll then select either MPG or OFF. That should resolve your issue. The problem is most people turn the knob too slow it breaks the circuit to the IAT just long enough to show a super low temperature and POOF 3 cylinder mode is set. To cancel this mess shut off the ignition wait 15 seconds of so and high idle is completely cancelled. Yes. that's the only way to cancel the mode. Actually I was the creator of the high idle but Ed Grafton (Yankneck696) redesigned the unit to current setup.
  22. Problem up here is the outside temperatures and how much exposed chimney you have. Like when I had my chimney liner install the pip stuck out another 12-16 inches from the original chimney. This now combined with the near minus temperatures doesn't matter how hot you burn that pipe is still cool enough to condense creosote. So you have to limit the amount of expose pipe as possible. I trimmed mine off right next to the existing chimney. Now this still doesn't fix it all. The existing chimney is all stone and block. As the cold winter come on the first 2-3 foot will plug up but looking down the chimney the rest is clean. I typically run 1,400 to 1,600*F pyrometer temp on initial startup and then cut back to 800-900*F as a burn temp.
  23. I've been playing with gearing and speed. I find that head down canyon is fine for 5th but actually does slightly better running 4th gear at 55 MPH back home.
  24. Here is what home looks like as of tonight...
