  1. Nick... Where are you man, I'm waiting patiently.
  2. You really need dial indicator to do it right, but if gears looked good then keep shims where they were.
  3. If apps is bad you should have a code, check v/ac noise, also fuel pressure when driving, if no codes and ac voltage is low, could be injectors.
  4. Sounds to me like someone threw it together without giving a crap just to sell maybe. I would not waste my time on it unless you can do it all your self, check craigslist or junkyards.
  5. I'm getting my truck set up for a winch on a removable mount, that way I can use it in multiple applications. I have a qwadzilla programmer and instructions say disconnect the module before jumping the vehicle, or immediate damage will accrue. My question is, how do you guys use your winches. Or is it only quwadzilla that have that problem. I really don't want to unplug it every time I got to use the winch or even give someone a jump. Unless I'm thinking of this all wrong and it only apply when my truck is dead and someone is giving me a jump.
  6. On the TBN part I run amsoil 15-40 diesel and marine 12tbn and after 13 mounts and 5,500 ml I had it tested frough CAT and the only thing out line was soot, TBN was at 11.something which I thought was pretty hight for the ml and time on oil.
  7. 2nd gens don't rot as fast ether. I see more 3rd gens in worst body shape.
  8. If voltage checks out good, then it's more likely ball and spring. Mine acted up from being brand new and FASS sent me new ball and spring, I modified the spring a little so the ball doesn't get stuck in spring. My pressure been steady ever since, but I do have 1/2 line in an out of my fuel module, so minimum restriction on fuel cycle. and that grove on new ball appeared over night too.
  9. I had luck before tack welding and built it up to where I can put vice grips on and spin things out that way, and while it's hot usually comes out.
  10. Well this is what I ended up doing, this kit is for newer dodge that sits under frame and on the axle. I modified it to work for me.
  11. Anyhow this is what I did, and still thinking about plumbing air inlet of compressor to air filter of the truck. I ran a piece of 1/2" pex as conduit to run all of my wires and have a few extra for future. Ashtray is where I used an old plate number to put a gage and switch in, and have extra room for more. I wanted to put it all inside of ashtray and hide it but there isn't much room that way. The compressor is sitting on 1/8 " stainless steel window brackets for commercial windows(got a friend that installs them) and an old aluminum sign for heat shield and that's where I mounted pressure switch, that is 90-120 psi. seemed like that was a good place for it all.
  12. I've always put belts on with letters to where you can read it but never knew why, I do now,Thanks.
  13. don't forget to clean your pulleys with wire brush, mine had all sorts of crap in them little gaps.
  14. What do you guys think about plumbing air compressor inlet to air filter of the truck? With BHAF I don't think it should be a problem.
  15. Not sure if I need it, but a lot of times when towing I ride on overloads, not bad but definitely using them. So I figured better be on safe side, and not overwork my springs.
  16. Anybody else use air bags that might have some pictures or part numbers?
  17. What is everyone running for airbags if you have a goose neck hitch. I can't seem to find a kit that doesn't interfere with goose neck mounting hardware. I would like to use bags that go on inside of frame but i would have to discard bottom out blocks (one is missing, rotted off) and torch off bottom outs on 4" spacer between spring and axle. But i think that location would work good. Anybody has pictures of theirs? and another thing they sell cradle for bottom of the bag that way in off road situation bag doesn't get ripped, any input on that? I do use my truck off road especially when getting fire wood. I was thinking something like this http://www.amazon.com/57295-LoadLifter-Series-Air-Spring/dp/B001F15YC2 and maybe modify a few things. A guy at air lift said that sweet spot for 57295 part number is between 5-7" and max extended length is 9.5" so I think I'm going with this set up, and will have to make it work. plus right now they got $50 rebate through Airlift.
  18. That's what it is, I didn't come up with it, just following someone else's lead. Maybe they didn't change calipers until later like 05-06 but did put bigger rotors in 03.
  19. Any one has pictures of rear air bags set up, and part #s ? i looked at few and would like to go with the ones that mount to axle and frame and replaces bottom out blocks, instead of the ones that mount to leaf spring. Plus I got goose neck plates that run along the frame on the out side, so I don't want to mess with that part. I can't seem to find a good description of how they mount.
  20. Thank you very much! that helped. Have you had any problems with parts? And that relay with pressure switch working good? I just ordered the one I posted link to and I don't think it comes with anything, so I'll have to get a pressure switch and relay too, not sure if I can find one locally or just get the one from viair I'm thinking 90 to 120 should be all I need.
  21. That's what I was thinking too, maybe it will fit under back seat, might be noisy a bit but only temporary. Also maybe tool box but sometimes I remove it for more space. I don't think there is good place under hood but I'll look when I get it. If I come up with something good I'll take a few pic. and post them.
  22. I'm thinking about getting this air compressor and plumb it in to my rear bumper for an aux tank, http://www.amazon.com/Viair-45040-450C-Air-Compressor/dp/B000FQ78VI Anyone else done this and maybe a good place to put it in? I'm thinking under bed where spear tire used to be, or under hood but not much room there. I think it would be nice to have for air bags and if pulling trailer you can always fix a flat and air it up. I know I could buy a cheap one that plugs in cigarette lighter but I would rather go this way.
  23. Yes, bigger by 30%. You'll need rotors pads and caliper brackets, 03 should work too, I went with 04 to be safe. Got all my parts from local parts store cheaper then anywhere else with lifetime. Driver side looks Chinese but passenger is from dodge, for some reason all parts stores I went to were same with china for passenger side and dodge for driver side, same with calipers they have rebuilt ones from dodge that fit driver side and for odd reason Chinese for passenger. Almost forgot you'll need 17's if you do this.
