  1. Just remembered something too, one winter driving 4runner I had vibration in front, sometimes braking sometimes not. Anyway ended up being ice on inside of rims froze uneven.
  2. Thank you, learn from the best on here.
  3. I spoke with FASS today and talked a bit about AD and seal from tiwan that usually fails and also about rebuild kits, I didn't get straight answer about kits but sounded like no. On the seal they said that the most resent titanium pump that I got they did some improvements on seal and some internals, but didn't say what. I also asked them about my pressure spikes of 3psi and they confirmed what I suspected, ball and spring in return like AD. He said maybe from sitting on shelf ball gets grove in it in one spot and that affects it. I just did same mod that I've done on my AD where you coil spring a bit titer so ball doesn't sink in it and guess what, pressure is steady now. and pump is quiet. So if you have a noisy pump try this mod in picture and put the ball back so it has new surface to seal against. I just used magic marker and put a dot on it and made sure I can see dot facing me before putting spring and fitting in. I believe Mike deserves credit for this mod.
  4. I hope you put it on dry, with no oil. Last one I did on 12valve I did a little research and found out that if you remove front cover and reinstall it with old seal you can put little bit of oil on it, but if you replace seal crank and seal got to be dry for it to wear in place. Or there is a change of it leaking later.
  5. Agreed on wavy washer.
  6. I heard somewhere they were redesigning that seal because it grooved shaft too much, maybe that is their solution. Similar to front crank seal, meant to be put on dry. Edit. On the other hand I think seal I got probably better but it groves shaft, I know in the link I posted earlier from cummins form, guy mentions shimming his .005 so it rides in different spot. What they need to come up with is mechanical seal that would wear on itself, and once you pull it of the shaft there will be no evidence of wear on the shaft or housing. Some pumps at work have them and some shevy rear ends have them, I'm sure plenty of other things have them too. If someone made it small and useable might be an answer.
  7. This might do some of them http://t.harborfreight.com/180-piece-viton-o-ring-kit-67525.html?utm_referrer=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com%2F
  8. Mine popped right out, I used piece of round stock that fit nice in the hole and one tap with small hammer came right out, but no star washer for me some odd looking wavy one.
  9. this was first one that popped up http://www.mscdirect.com/product/details/36676088?src=pla&cid=PLA-Google-PLA+-+Test&CS_003=7867724&CS_010=36676088 here is a good thread http://www.cumminsforum.com/forum/98-5-02-performance-parts-discussion/561757-need-help-airdog-problem.html and looks like these guy had SKF 3103 for seal
  10. That just says how quality went to s..t over years. That's why most of their failures are from these seals leaking fuel in to electric motor, that simple step could double or triple life of these things.
  11. Oh man don't get mad, after shoveling snow I went and pupped that thing out and you were right 031072 is the number. here is few more pictures. Also that seal is pressed in against another o-ring, same size that is between gear rotor block and base plate.
  12. I looked at some of the number you provided and they don't look like the seal that is in AD, just in case the number on the seal is 081072 vtf Just seen your post above, so yes this is correct number, I did a quick search and didn't find nothing, I'll check later got to go shovel snow, we finally got some decent snow this year. About 10" so far, still snowing. Wet and heavy.
  13. I thought about it too but I think I'd like to keep it as a spear for now, maybe later. I'm still thinking of a project for future.
  14. Looks like ranchman is all over parts #s and I got decent pictures of tear down, maybe once I get all the parts lined up I'll make a new post of how to rebuilt AD pump/motor. I'm not going to change bearings or brushes they are in great shape, just need that seal is all. Good thing is I'll have a spear lift pump now.
  15. I didn't worry about bearings as much as that seal. I got BDI bearing 10 min from me they carry a lot on hand, but that seal night be challenge to find. I just thought that AD or FASS should offer rebuilt kit for their product for people like me that bought their truck with pump on it and no warranty.
  16. If it shimmy's my guess is warped rotor or rotors. One thing to make sure when you put then back is there is nothing on surface of rotor where it touches hub, and nothing on hub. anything that will make it wobble. If that don't help maybe need ne rotors.
  17. It also looked like that same hole fuel comes out, water can go back in if you power wash it. Notice some corrosion on the bearing and where it sits, also tiny groves from the seal. I think the only thing holding fuel from coming in to stator and armature when seal fails is that sealed bearing, it's pushed in to it's hole with o-ring so fuel has to go through the bearing it self.
  18. Alright, for all of you that have Air Dog. This is what I found when I tore my AD apart to find where the fuel was leaking from. I have to say that it's not all that bad of quality, but also this is one of the first ones too. It seems to be built pretty well and by the looks of it has a lot of life left in most of components. In pictures you will see the part that failed is a little seal that keeps fuel from coming in to electric motor, and there is a little hole for fuel to come outside when that seal fails. That seal also says made in Taiwan and appears to be damaged back in assembly line ( don't think it's in US, but maybe ). Other than that seal, everything else inside looked good and brushes that I thought would be worn had a lot of life left in them too. I took pictures with my phone so not sure how they will look on screen. I did try to zoom in on part #'s for future. So basically I'm glad I got a new FASS, (supposedly 98% made in USA), (hopefully that little seal too) , I don't think I'll find that little seal anytime fast for Air Dog, and AD people won't help. Enjoy the pictures. P.S. I really think that Air Dog and FASS both should sell these little parts to their costumers. They are screwing us over for $5 worth of parts. It won't be any harder to rebuilt than an alternator or a vacuum pump.
  19. Well here it is, about 15% larger unit and filter are 2 times bigger. Had to mount it in a new place, it was too big to clear under cab. An update, just drove the truck and right of way noticed pressure fluctuation of about 2 psi up down up down constantly, had to close my needle valve almost off for it to be steady. So ether that's how FASS is or my Air Dog was really worn out. But AD held 19-20 psi without much of fluctuation even with needle valve open a turn. FASS seems to perform fine, holds about 18psi with needle valve almost closed. I felt return line and vibration corresponds to pressure fluctuations. My guess it ball and spring that regulate pressure opens and closes to stay at 18 psi. if I open needle valve then pressure is between 15.5 and 17.5 bouncing. Other than that I got life time warranty on it as long as they don't go out of business like other have.
  20. Got mine today from genos, looks and performs great, I'll post a picture later. Back in day my grandfather used to work at molding factory, he would say the cost on this should be 25 cents. But obviously he didn't have any molds for cup holders or I'd be rich. This picture is with tranny in 6th gear.
  21. Thank you sir, I almost ran in to a wall at work today holding clutch in too long and it started to engage. How is your napa stuff holding up, do you think it would work with aftermarket clutch? Mine is not too stiff but defiantly stiffer then stock. I bough truck with it so I don't know what it is, but drove other factory trucks and know mine is stiffer. Our local orily has Power Torqe $100 for both with life time. I'm thinking that rout. P.S this month was bad for me, too many things are wearing out. Well I went and got it, made in China all over the box $100 out the door for both, lifetime warranty. Napa has to order one of them and one year warranty about $120 out the door. Southbend is $300+ Not sure about warranty. I ended up taking orily china stuff back and got them from carqwest, box says made in 7 county's. took it out of box and it says made in USA. and part numbers match with what I took out. Not sure if factory is plastic or metal, If plastic then I guess I got lucky and parts are original with life time warranty. Or someone changed them once before me and got them from carqwest too. Attached are new carqwest boxes and old parts.
  22. I'll try to get a picture of mine and edit my post later, it's all dirty now.
  23. I'm not even sure if it's rated for fuel, guys thought it would be fine, they aren't much money, I can afford changing them every five years.
  24. I got mine from local custom hose, they had a cheap Chinese and a good looking quality made in USA ( the one I got ) I don't have any part numbers as the guys down there just go to their shelf and grab it of box.
