  1. Wait to start not coming on instantly with key on, lift pump not working properly, sometimes surging, random codes all at once, the list can be big. A lot of it is from bad grounds, bad alternator with excessive AC/ alternating current. ECM should only trigger a relay that powers lift pump and not power lift pump directly. Front factory they had lift pump powered directly from ECM but they were smaller pumps, airdog, fass, and other bigger ones use ECM input to power relay and relay will power lift pump from battery. Or skip Bs and get a mechanical lift pump. Also on your toggle switch idea, don't power it on until engine starts, VP doesn't like pressure when starting. For many reasons you should have it controlled by the ECM. For time being switch is ok.
  2. I used to carry every where I went when I first got my permit years ago, now it's very rare. I feel like the society is bunch of whimps now and I can take em with my bear hands, or just an angry look lol. What I'm trying to say is don't let that be the reason to hold you back from meeting people, if it's your time it's your time, you're a big guy I wouldn't worry about not carrying once in awhile. I carry more when I'm in the woods, never know there, and on Halloween because it brings out freaks. You can usually tell when you should carry or not. Idk, just thinking out loud.
  3. If you send ecm for repair, make sure to include all trouble codes and issues you're having
  4. The other 2 probably come from ECM and that's what trigger the relay to energize. Don't connect the other 2 anywhere if you're planning on using toggle switch. Sounds like you have more than one problem, maybe ecm is going out.
  5. What's it smells like, could be valve seals. If doesn't smell like oil, it could be worn out injectors or vp. How many miles, any blow by, smoke on cold start is if not seals, then fuel isn't burning completely, then when temps go up its burning better. Could be compression. Need more info to go farther.
  6. Every time I think my life sucks, I think of places like this and my heart breaks to think of how selfish man can get. This is not even that bad compared to some places that exists out there https://www.google.com/search?q=india+slums&client=ms-android-verizon&prmd=inmv&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwjb-s-g8t_gAhWJyoMKHRv2AagQ_AUoAXoECA0QAQ&biw=360&bih=560
  7. How did your truck act, dash light on, brakes didn't work right? That's what I meant to ask.
  8. What was wrong with it, symptoms? Best I can say is ebay, craigslist, salvage yards
  9. I don't think you can tell from outside
  10. No I don't, I'm going of memory working on other autos back in the day and they all had some sort of adjustment on that rod
  11. More than likely it's the ball and spring acting up in the return of fass. You need to modify your spring to look like this. The coiled up end goes towards the ball.
  12. There should be a set bolt that you just loosen up, then with the transmission and lever in park tighten the screw back down. It'll probably move quarter inch or so from its original spot, basically you're trying to make that shift rod longer.
  13. Not entirely what I meant, I was just saying if my seal would leak I'll have a reason to remove the cover and find out what case I have. Changing the case is not a minor repair, I don't even know what I would do if that ever happened. Probably fix it then move on I suppose.
  14. You can kinda see seals behind springs with flashlight, may have to rotate motor to see some. If they are ripped like in picture above then you should be able to see that. I know after I redid my head some seals ended up working their way up and got hammered by retainers, I could definitely see that through the springs. But like Mike mentioned it's hardly ever you can change seals and have them last more than likely guides need replacing, so if you're thinking about doing seals might as well do the whole head. To each their own though, some get away with just changing seals.
  15. Get that magick wand out my eye lord of the ring.
  16. Thanks for the post above @Tractorman
  17. Some days I want off this plane t, but kids keep me sain and getting up every day and doing the life long routine. Hope someday leave long enough to do same for grandkids.
  18. They do Why would you want ecm controlling grids at all
  19. I have my camera on the toggle switch, that way if I'm pulling a trailer or just want to see what's going on behind I can flip it on, Got It so if I backup to a trailer I could see the ball latch and all, pretty handy. Just the driver
  20. So both grid heaters never on at the same time even if it's really cold out. I fought dependent on temperature is how they operated. The reason I'm asking is I have both of my grid heaters on the momentary switch and wondering if there is any damage can be done with both being on at the same time. I believe that's how @Tractorman had his truck wired since new.
  21. All I can do is wish you luck as I'm not much help here. My truck is acting weird today too, on way to work it felt like I was pulling a trailer and was getting whole 13mpg but on the way home it did better more like 17-18mpg, maybe because it was 0 this morning and 20 on the way home. Just never seen it that low just normal driving.
