  1. So they lifted my truck about 1-3/4" to 2". Will those top out my shocks and do I need to get new shocks for the rear?
  2. Thanks, I don't plan on overloading it past what GM says, but when there's something in the bed or a trailer behind it, I don't want that rear squatting like it did the other day. I probably had 1300-1500 lbs in it, and it was sitting level or just past it. That would be like a fly in the bed of the Cummins
  3. spec says 1800 lb payload capacity, I think I was just under that with that concrete. New spring is between the overload and 2 factory springs
  4. Actually they gave directions for a 4" suspension lift with rear blocks, they said 120 ft-lbs for the u-bolt nuts. Is that 1/2 ton axle beafy enough for that?
  5. 2nd gen, 4.5" backspacing
  6. After hauling some concrete manhole risers the other day with the new chevy 1500 long bed 5.3 v8, I decided to install add a leafs and new u-bolts for added pay load capacity, she was squatting pretty bad. Since I'm adding another leaf, thicker u-bolts (9/16" to 5/8"), do I need to torque the u-bolt nuts to the factory specs of 74 ft-lbs, or a higher spec? There were no directions with the add a leafs and the u-bolts I got were universal truck bolts. http://www.summitracing.com/oh/parts/tfy-81350/overview/ http://www.summitracing.com/oh/parts/slf-11004/overview/
  7. With no real experience, I've heard wheel spacers are terrible for your hubs/unit bearings. As far as tie rods, I would stay away from cheapo in house brands, unless it's NAPA high end line. I rebuilt mine with MOOG, no issues in 20,000 miles. RockAuto or Amazon
  8. All great answers, I have run into this problem as well. Check tires for cupping, and what wild and free said
  9. Then point gets raised, why pass a law/legislation and then not enforce it? Power hungry. I'm guessing dealerships aren't getting the volume of customers they used to because they are just so expensive. Plus you almost never get to see/talk to the person that actually worked on your vehicle and it makes for a hard case against them if something fishy happens.
  10. It's food for thought. They'll take baby steps and no one will notice till one day apple/google will be driving us everywhere while we're in the backseat, like the article says. I don't think it's an immediate threat but you can see where we are heading.
  11. They're just trying to justify more government control. The automakers are in bed with the government because of bail outs and what not, now the feds can enforce their extensive emission controls and will be telling us what kinds of cars we can and cannot buy and who we can take them to for service. "You like your mechanic, you can keep em"...yaaaa right
  12. The dodge dealer couldn't reflash the used unit they tried to install on mine the other week. The had to order a brand new control module to vin code it properly. I forget the reasoning behind it, something about not clearing it before they installed it...
  13. That is nice and clean! Tasteful rims too
  14. Great experiences here too. Told this tire shop to rebalance my wheels...they never did and said they did, no weights anywhere, so I got centramatics. And someone bent up my new hub covers, can't point my fingers because my truck was at the tire shop and Dodge dealer within a couple days of each other...sorry, rant.
  15. Ditto, my Carter pump is still mounted with dumby plugs to prevent corrosion. It still works, I use it to prime sometimes.
  16. Get some more fuel in that tank for a cheap try, maybe some air in the lines. Mine sputters at about the 1/8 mark. All your gauges reporting accurately? Tachometer?
  17. Haha it doesn't stop! I put 60s in, then justified 100s for a stalling/fuel leak issue and I said to myself that was it! Now I want try SACs or 150s. Good to hear though you like them.
  18. In previous winters in Connecticut, we would burn 5-7 cord. We would keep that thing burning 24/7, that also included using the fireplace on the weekends for the ambiance. Lot of maple, oaks and cherry. This winter I lived in Ohio with no wood stove...
  19. Worse case, rockauto, timken, made in USA. I think about $180 each
  20. I did both my front unit bearings and used a puller each time. Both bearings came out in pieces...the socket and wheel turning trick is the best method if you want to reuse the hub/unit bearing.

  22. Don't pull them out, pry and cut each one otherwise the door will break on the inside. The plastic is way too brittle
