  1. Are you talking a spinning motion or pushing it in/out or up/down? Big difference between all of them!
  2. I would NOT convert that TPS value into load for wiretap. You could end up with a "runaway" or "shutdown" as the load value increases/decreases with wiretap input and constant TPS. However again you run into the issue of different setups if you only change it for cruise state. I have wiretap starting at 5% because I don't come off of level 2 unless I want to do some playing. Keeping that TPS low gives me a lot of control over wiretap with my foot when I "play." Let me look through the custom tuning variables and see if I have any ideas. Give me a couple hours.
  3. Fly by wire CC doesn't have a TPS input....
  4. Those really don't look bad for the amount of miles. The best way to keep carbon from building up is getting things good and hot. If you can get the EGTs over 1000 for an extended period it should burn the carbon off. I regularly get mine into the 1300+ range and have never pulled a set that look dirty (I've had 3 sets of injectors in my truck) As for torquing I wouldn't worry about it. Tighten them up so they don't leak and call it a day. I've never seen anyone use a torque wrench on them and never seen anyone have issues. If it's leaking tighten some more!
  5. Good to hear you're getting it back together. Hopefully not too much has changed since you've been down! I don't remember mine staying rock solid at a number whether doing 60 or 80. I thought with high load the ECM had some weight and would pull timing down? Maybe I just didn't notice. The hardest part with this is finding a system that works for everyone. Going up a 6% grade @Mopar1973Man might be at 50% load and 25psi of boost while I'm at 30% load and 35psi of boost. I don't know how you're going to work through a method that will work for everyone without a user defined value. Hopefully you'll come up with something, but I'm skeptical. Not doubting! Just skeptical
  6. Check it at WOT as well. It does sound like an apps though because when you back out it comes back to life. I'm surprised edge doesn't show that.
  7. @Me78569 the 501 won't cause any of the issues he's having. Mine pops up randomly and I never know it. You definitely need to see what the TPS is seeing to diagnose what's going on. @CLAUS1 do you know your fuel pressure?
  8. Yes it does! Then make your cut for a fuel pressure gauge about a foot from the VP
  9. I would go with a straight 90* fitting into the vp44 instead of trying to use a banjo. It might be supplied in the kit.
  10. Thank you @Carbur8tr we'll give it a shot again. I could have sworn we followed those exact steps, but for some reason @trreed's doesn't like to display some of the variables. Out of curiosity, which vehicle do you select?
  11. I wouldn't say the head has to be surfaced, but it should be checked by a machine shop at a minimum. (They'll likely say it needs machined) I doubt there's any block distortion, but you should do as @jlbayes says and check it for flatness with a machinist straight edge and feeler gauges. I would NOT slap it back together without having those things checked because you'll regret it if you blow the gasket. It really doesn't matter if the bolts came out clean or not. The other thing I would do is replace the valve seals while the head is out. There's really no reason not to.
  12. It's pretty normal for IAT to sit around 30* higher than ambient (on a warm motor) regardless of boost. Turning the key straight to start can cause hard starting as well because the lift pump pressure is too high. Not sure why (maybe @Mopar1973Man can help with that) If you let the grid heaters warm up does it start any better than not waiting on them? The white smoke is probably just unburnt fuel from what it sounds like? It doesn't sit in the manifold, it just doesn't completely burn what's in the combustion chamber. Have you tried unplugging the edge other than the OBD port? It almost sounds like the edge is screwing up and making it do weird things.
  13. So you're saying max boost hasn't changed at all since this started?
  14. 35+ will all have to be wiretap. How smooth is it for you? Also, @trreed and I need some help with the iQuad if you don't mind. We can't seem to get his to work correctly, so if you could give us exactly how you updated your phone and box that would be great!
  15. You should at least have the head checked for flatness. What you do from there all depends on the pocket book.
  16. I only asked for that two months ago
  17. Excellent! Glad to hear the head work was done properly. Now this special order gasket.... I'm assuming it's thicker than factory? That will decrease the compression ratio and can cause slightly harder winter starts. Not like you're experiencing but still a bit harder. The "thunk" you hear is actually the solenoids shutting off, so the solenoids could be working properly and the grid heater itself not working. Parker is where I bought my car yesterday haha. Yeah we should meet up on a weekend or something to go through some stuff.

It would be nice if something changed. From what I read, the diesel pickups are allowed to pollute more because they have a heavier weight rating or something like that. Cars have to be much cleaner for one reason or another. I guess they don't understand that 45mpg is less total pollution than a "cleaner" gas engine getting 20mpg.
  19. So I can help ya a little bit here. In my experience the 188/220 DOES make it a little harder to start during the winter. However, it should not make it as hard as it sounds right now. I don't have my signature completely filled out yet, but trust me we have similar mods (including the cam) I do see a big issue with the cam. Was piston protrusion and valve depth measured before installing the cam? I ask because the 188/220 is NOT a drop in like many think. In fact, I've never heard of an engine not needing work to make the cam fit. For me, I had to have the valves sunk deeper into the head to keep the pistons from slapping the valves. I know it's not what you wanted to hear..... Now the "shutter" you are experiencing can be many things. I think your best bet is to get the edge reading boost correctly. From there you can diagnose other issues, but until then you're stabbing in the dark. Also where in Denver are you located? I'm over in Lakewood (Central/west Denver.) If I could at least ride in it I may have some more ideas on the issues you're experiencing. Lastly what year is the truck? I've got a smarty and a TST that aren't being used if you'd like to try one of those for diagnosing.

Well, I gave up on looking for a TDI. There's just no way to buy a reasonably priced one with the buybacks happening. Instead, I bought a 2014 Passat TSI Wolfsburg edtion. Hopefully it'll be trouble free like the TDI's!
  21. Not sure where you got your price, but they are 675 here: http://dieselautopower.com/quadzilla-power-2001-dodge-5-9l-cummins-adrenaline-with-iquadbt-iquadbt1001/
  22. I like this idea. Great spot to keep it from getting broken. Someday I'll share mine, but I have to cleanup the mess of wires the security system installer left before I can take pictures.
  23. Hey @Carbur8tr would you mind going through the process of how you got the iPhone stuff to work with the V2.2 quad? @trreed and I have been trying to get his to work with no luck. Thanks!

Cab space isn't really a concern, but I'd like something newer with fairly low miles. I spoke with a dealership yesterday and they said they have an approved emissions fix for the 2015 model which implementation should begin soon. However, they can't seem to get a fix for the 09-14 models, so those will be bought back by the dealership and not resold. It sounds like it's going to be much harder to find one than I suspected. I did contact one of my old bosses who has a 12 (I think) and he's being paid 16K for the car and 6K in restitution. At those prices no one is going to sell theirs individually. I have found ONE in Colorado, but the owner is asking 17K for a 2012 with 70K miles on it. Seems crazy to me at that price. I may just end up going with the 2.0 turbo gas model. If you don't mind me asking @Wild and Free, how much did the deletes end up costing you?
