Biofuels emit 400 percent more CO2 than regular fuels
http://www.naturalnews.com/029421_biofuels_CO2.html (NaturalNews) A recent report issued by the European Union has revealed that biofuels, or fuel made from living, renewable sources, is not really all that beneficial to the environment. Rather than reduce the net carbon footprint as intended, biofuels can produce four times more carbon dioxide pollution than conventional fossil fuels do. Common biofuels like corn ethanol, which has become a popular additive in gasoline, and soy biodiesel, which is being used in commercial trucks and other diesel-fueled vehicles, are often considered to be environmentally-friendly because they are renewable. But in order to grow enough of these crops to use for both food and fuel, large swaths of land around the world are being converted into crop fields for growing biofuels. In other words, millions of acres of lush rainforests are becoming corn and soy fields in order to provide enough of these resources for their new uses. The net carbon footprint of growing crops for fuel is far higher than what is emitted from simple fossil fuel usage. According to the report, American soybeans have an indirect carbon footprint of 340kg of CO2 per gigajoule (GJ), while conventional diesel and gasoline create only 85kg/GJ. Similarly, the European rapeseed, a plant similar to the North American canola, indirectly produces 150kg/GJ because additional land in other nations has been converted to grow rapeseed for food in order to replace the native crops that are now being grown for fuel. Ironically, the amount of direct and indirect resources used to grow food for fuel is quite high compared to that of conventional fossil fuels. Biofuels also do not burn as efficiently and can be rough on the engines they fuel. Ethanol-enriched gasoline can also reduce gas mileage efficiency by upwards of 25 percent, depending on the vehicle. Growing food for fuel ends up increasing the price of food for consumers. It also puts additional strain on families, many of whom are already having difficulties making ends meet in current economic conditions. When all is said and done, biofuels seem to be a whole lot of hype with not a lot of benefit. Environmentally, fiscally and practically, biofuels are a disaster. Fossil fuels may not be an ideal form of clean energy, but at this point in time, they make a lot more sense than biofuels. parking brake
Yep on the links being what I was talking about. They hold way better than the park brakes. your normal service brakes are the limit of the mico locks,

Transmission safe mode
Yes and the root cause is poor oem parts to begin with. This is the cure. Not a cover up bandaid like a diode which masks the true problem. New Chrysler 618RE Governor Pressure Conversion Upgrade Kit Part No. 618-GK Price: $139.00 This kit was specifically designed to improve the reliability of the governor solenoid in normal use and to handle higher base pressure in high performance application. This unit will fit both early and late style. We recommend you also install a new Governor Pressure Sensor/Transducer with this kit. This kit in testing was found to be extremely reliable in every situation. Contamination metal, fiber, clutch material does not phase the RE conversion kit. Parts included in this kit: • Manifold is made of 6061T6 Billet Aluminum • New Borg Warner Solenoid • 1/4 20 Grade 5 bolts (4) • Viton O-Rings (3) • Gasket • Cap screws (3) • Set screw • Delphi/Packard connectors • Bracket for Solenoid and Governor sensor

Transmission safe mode
Ok I got it, but it is to bandaid a governor solenoid issue. It really has nothing to do with higher pressures. If it is seeing higher values there is a problem electrically and people are hiding / COVERING UP the problem raTHER THAN FIXING IT.

parking brake
Most just cut out the old cable actuated brake parts and install A Mico lock hydraulic lock park brake valve. I have installed them in the past and they are super great.
-
Transmission safe mode
That is a new one to me . If you find info I would be interested in seeing it.

A/C Components
An expansion valve is nothing more than an orifice also. it is just housed in a larger housing.
-
Transmission safe mode
I have never heard of that one. Maybe you are thinking of an improved governor solenoid valve from suncoast converters that will handle higher pressures without high failure rates of the stock ones.
-
A/C Components
Then I need to correct here. This system has no expansion valve, it has an orifice tube. Not too many newer systems have expansion valves anymore. most systems use orifice tubes that slip inside the line prior to the evaporator.

What are the differences between second gen and 3rd gen wit CR
It is a 48 re tranny. the frames are built stronger and are heavier. They have a bigger/ stronger t-case. they have amarican axles rather than Danas hence the gear ratio difference. No difference in exhaust related emmissions until the 6.7 came along with the dpf system in 07-08.

Tubro NOT working, HOT EGT's!!! HELP!!!
Pull out and clean the intake air temperature sensor "IAT" and the manifold aipr pressure sensor "MAP". If they give bad readings it will not let the pump fuel enough to get any boost built up and that will also result in low or no smoke.

Looking for Ideas on intermittant miss.
I read on Blue chips site that the vp44 computer will cause my exact issue when it gets hot and since this is a rebuilt HRVP44 from II, I doubt they install new computers so I am leaning towards that but until it dies or starts acting up and affecting my performance I will live with it as I have for 3 years already.I am thinking of trying a different set of injectors if I find a set and see if it makes a diff or not,or maybe just get mine pressure/pop checked.

Looking for Ideas on intermittant miss.
I have had an issue with my 02 for about three years now. When it is cold out it runs like a champ. as the temps pass 60-70 degrees and the engine is hot it develops an inconsistant miss. It only does it in warm weather with a hot engine. It developed after I installed the 155 hp BD injectors and an II HRVP44 pump. They were installed about a week apart in the spring while it was still cool out so I never could isolate which caused it.I Have read that a bad vp44 computer will cause the miss when it gets hot.The next thing is if It is in gear or has any sort of load on it like head lights on or ac on ect it will run smooth but put it in park with every load sucking option off them it misses. It is not a solid consistant miss either it sounds like morse code and it will miss through the rpm band as it is reved up with no load also.Seems the hotter it gets or after pulling a heavy load is when it gets the worst.Any ideas? It was a fresh II HRVP44 when I installed it about 3 years ago which is where I think the problem lies.

Strange Sound near passenger side block
If it has an internal combustion engine with heads and valves it has valve seats.

Hail Call For FlagMan
Lower flag appears to be a gadsden flag. Stay true and patriotic men. This country was founded as a "REPUBLIC" not a democracy as most tend to believe, history has proven democracies have always failed.

Coils and Suspension
Why do you want to replace the front coil springs?
-
Trying to understand A/C and heating
You do not need t worry about the compressor. Its cycles are protected by pressure switches.
-
Strange Sound near passenger side block
The valves usually do not have issues on a cummins but the 24 valves did have valve seat issues some times. The seats would come loose in the head and they can crack and pound out or fall out. Then if it gets bad enough the valve can break and hit the piston and cause all sorts of carnage inside the cylinder.
-
Possible Problem with 24v Cummins
You can not compare a common rail to a 24 valve. My 02 even with 150 hp injectors and hrvp44 will stay clean looking until around 2k miles on the oil. A common rail has a different injection cycle and higher pressures and the oil will always be black as coal.

Manifold Bolts
I am thinking what you hear is normal sounds.

I hate my steering
Yes, the Borgesson is now the one to go with as the others GM issued 3.3 turns are just about impossible to get anymore.
-
Fan Clutch T/U
I hear ya there, its been in the upper 90's with 75% humidity this week up here.
-
I hate my steering
I have said it over and again like a broken record, the fix is to go to a 3.3 turn gear box instead of the 4.5 turn. You all will be super impressed with the results.

Fan Clutch T/U
Yep just grab the front of the pully, there is just enough flat area to grab tight. The pulley is plenty stiff enough to not worry about warping it. you will leave teeth marks but you will not bend it.
-
Fan Clutch T/U
Have you tried to hold the nose of the pulley with a large channel lock pliers? I use a model 460 channel lock brand and it works for me.
