  1. That was one of my first thoughts. Maybe they made some major changes to the software or firmware. Up until a few months ago when I noticed this my normal loads were so much lower. What I do remember is 13% load (0.7 gal/hour fuel) in gear a/c on. That would be quite a drastic change. That was another reason I borrowed a friend's to confirm numbers and his read the same high numbers. Thx Dave
  2. Hey folks, I hope all is well and everyone is making it through these unprecedented times. I posted a little while back about an unusually high load on my engine. I knew I was due for some new injectors as I’m currently at around 145k miles. I finally got to install the new RV275’s over the weekend. While I had the valve cover off I adjusted the valve lash as well. What a difference that made. The truck runs so much smoother now. A nice little boost in power feels good too. It’s seems to be less noisy. About all I can hear is the VP44 clattering away now. Link to post Anyway, on to my issue. As I stated above, I am having issues with a high load. With the new injectors, the load is even higher now. Here’s some load number I got off my OBDlink. I did borrow a friends OBDlink MX to verify my load values. This only seems to happen when not moving. While moving things seem to be normal but I could be wrong. No A/C A/C Park/neutral low teens high teens Any gear high twenties mid 30’s The load is so much higher and I am at wits end trying to figure out what the heck is going on. The only two things I can think that would cause this is something wrong in the trans or possibly the VP44. I’m going to change the fluid in the trans this weekend and check to see if there are any signs of issues. I would really appreciate some help with this. Is there anything anyone can think that might help with this issue. Of course my above assumptions could be totally wrong and maybe its something else. Thank you Dave Thank you in advance and I am desperate to figure this out. Hopefully the abundance of knowledge here can help me figure this out.
  3. That's awesome. I hope I can do that. L8tr d
  4. I figure if I need new ones, I might as well upgrade a little over stock. Do I need to, no but a little extra night be nice. Who knows maybe the trains will last another 200k. How's that for wishful thinking. l8tr d
  5. @Me78569 thanks for the input. Now for the question... I would like to wake the moose up a little. RV275 or some 50hp sticks? RV's are VCO I believe but what about SAC (for the 50's)? I don't hot rod it too much but a little extra go may be nice but don't want to hurt the trans but realize it will probably need a rebuild some day. I was thinking about keeping the stock injectors. That way when I finally rebuild the trans I can rebuild them larger and add quad. Thanks again.
  6. Hey guys, it’s been a while since posting but I have been checking in. Life is really getting in my way. I hope everyone is well. Now on to my issue. For the past few weeks my load (from OBDlink) at idle in gear has been very high. It’s higher now than when I’ve had my AC on previously. When at idle and in park it bounces between 0% and 4%. It’s when I put it in gear that it jumps up to above 15% (typically 18%-20%). I’ve also notice that my fuel rate has jumped to levels higher than when my AC was on (somewhere between 0.7 and 0.9 gal/hr). When I do have my AC on the load is well above 20% (around 24% +/-). Previously, with my AC on my max fuel rate was right at 0.7 gal/hr and without Ac around 0.4 gal/hr. With 140K mile, I know that I am due for new injectors and wonder if this could be a reason for this? I have searched the posts here and most information says that idle will increase and load drop with old worn out injectors. RPM’s are fine. 800 idle in park, 750 idle in gear. I am planning to get new injectors in the next few weeks. I have noticed some slight hiccups during idle lately but very random and not frequent. Once I am moving everything seems to be normal. There are no error codes. I also added the MAP sensor gauge to OBDlink to see if maybe this could be part of my problem. The reading I get on that key on engine off is around 59inhg +/-. I would think that should be around 29inhg +/- but haven’t been able to find any definite information about this online. I am thinking about taking it out and testing it using a USB power source to see what the output voltage is with no boost. The truck seems to be running fine and I my mileage could be a slightly lower. I’m early on a tank and can’t be sure until my next fill. I’m trying to see if I notice any performance degradation but conforming this could just be my imagination working overtime. There are no boost leaks. I did a WOT run and the boost jumped right up to 19psi where the wastegate opened. The MAP sensor read 75inhg +/- at WOT. I borrowed a boost leak tester from a friend and I test with that this weekend. I hate to say this but the only other thing I could think of is possibly something is not right in the trans. Hoping that is not the case though. I use the Chris O Meter and went for a drive to check the trans temp and it appears to be normal. Running temp was around 160. Anyway, I’m kind of stumped and would appreciate any advice. Thanks in advance. L8tr d
  7. Just to let you know, I just added a 1/2" big line out to my FASS ddrp and relocated it just in front of the tank. One thing you can do is remove the aluminum plate and stretch the spring just a little bit ( no more than 3mm). With my stock setup, idle is 19 psi and it WOT is 15 psi. L8tr D
  8. You might not have connected the amp relay to the new stereo. IIRC it was a blue wire and the power from the stereo turns on the amp. I did this when I first put in a new stereo. Hope this helps L8tr D
  9. I change mine every other oil change. A lot of the guys here just wait until fuel pressure starts to drop. D
  10. @Evan very nice work. L8tr D
  11. Like @dripley said, don't jump to conclusions but replacing the vp44 is not that difficult. I did mine about 6-8 months ago. Mike's articles are all you need to do it. L8tr D
  12. If you ever get down to Vero Beach, I would like to hear that "noise". Hope it fires right up. L8tr D
  13. I made my using amazon. $100 headlights, $50 projectors & $60 HIDs. It was a good brain challenging exercise for me. L8tr d I just did a quick google for projector assemblies for our trucks and most of what I found was a projector for the low and reflector for high.
  14. Pretty much so. Remove the lense, modify bulb opening to accept projector & install the projector. Then you install assembly on truck to adjust the cutoff. Remove assembly to glue lens back on. Do the final instal. And then the wiring Would I do it again, he'll yeah. They are that much better L8tr D
  15. Do you want HID's with projectors? Maybe a Google search will find some for you. I would caution you that the wiring side of this can be confusing to say the least. It took me a few trys to get the wiring figured out. I added HID's and projectors to my truck for about $250 including the light housing. L8tr D
  16. I'm with Mike. Clear lenses with HIDs & projectors. Awesome. If on a budget, new headlight assembly with good halogen bulbs. You can add the HIDs & projectors later. Never put LEDs in reflector lights. You can use them in projectors tho L8tr D
  17. When my low fuel light comes on I have 9 gallons left so my gauge is way off. I guess when I eventually put in a new pickup in tank i can adjust that as well. L8tr D
  18. I had my gauge connected to the rest port off the vp44 for quite a while with no issues. If course i had a snubber. L8tr D
  19. I'm liking that double run. Nice job & have fun with the block. Don't skip sandpaper grits, you'll regret it. L8tr D
  20. I have been thinking about this since I did the mod and added extra 2/0 wires to connect the batteries. should I still rotate the batteries seeing as how they are connected very well and the charge wire now goes to the pass side battery? Just a thought. I'm sure it would hurt to continue doing so. L8tr D
  21. we'll be doing that in a few L8tr D
  22. That would be no too complicated to program but I don't think our machine can handle small intricate parts like that. Now give me something that is 36x36x36 and I'm off to the races. L8tr D
  23. All in fun Mike L8tr D
  24. He makes his mom do it from the passenger side L8tr D
