  1. I had a lot blue smoke when the oe VP was giving up. A new cured it. I am NOT saying your VP is bad by any means, more trouble shooting is in order.
  2. I remember having to index the motor when I installed mine, just dont remember what I did to do that.
  3. The first one. Did not know about the second option. I paid $25 when I bought mine and thought that was pricey. The doors seem a bit pricey too but if it makes it all work better, who knows.
  4. If your pump is being fed by the ECM you really ought to get it on a relay. Running the 12v power thru it is hard on the ECM Here is an article about it with a how to.
  5. I aint the brightest bul in the pack on leectrical at all. But should not have the meter set to 12v. I am assumming that is DC on the meter. Mine has a 12v DC I switch to. @Mopar1973Man???
  6. Do the key trick and you should see the following for both computers. p pcu, then codes, then p done P ecu, then codes, then p done If you only see one p done, you are only reading one computer, which like @Me78569 says yours should not do both unless you have an oddball.
  7. Yes. Once the engine stops running the ECM shuts the lift pump off. It sees the engine not running from the cam and/or crank sensor. It will do this in case you have a wreck and the motor shuts off so you dont keep pumping fuel. Bad thing if there is a fire.
  8. You get to it right above and to right of the gas pedal. Biy of pain but a whole lot less of one than pulling the box out.
  9. Mine got like that shortly before I rebuilt the HVAC box, full hot or cold was all I had. Had to regulate the heat with my windows. It has worked fine since the rebuild with the same heater control. Other than the new heater core and evaporator, I installed the Heater Treater o. The blend door and indexed the motor. The only other thing I replaced was all the foam gaskets.
  10. Does it get codes from both computers or just one?
  11. I the FWIW column, I was getting the 237 code and my map sensor was dropping out. Turned out a splice I had in the 5v supply to the other sensors had worked its way loose. This was not the factory splice but a self inflicted splice near the ECM plug. I repaired that splice and MAP has worked fine ever since. I have no idea as to how they are related to one another but it worked. Just food for thought. The splice you are going to do should work just fine, just be sure and seal it up good.
  12. When I have to redo my front end I will probably do the T style. Pretty sure the HD was an option for your year and 98.
  13. You need a volt meter capable of reading millivolts. Some are auto ranging and others you have to set the selector to millivolts. With the engine running place the + to the charging stud on the back of the alternator and the - on the battery terminal. you want to see .04 or less as I remember. @Mopar1973Man has a good article about but I think he hides from me.
  14. have you checked the ac ripple off of the alternator since doing the ground mod? That is correct. The charge wire goes to the passenger battery and is removed from the PDC.
  15. Seems I remember you having a video of your MPG switch changing the oil pressure when activated. Temp gauge gauge went down and the oil pressure gauge went up.
  16. the way I understand it is the switch closes around 6 lbs of oil pressure and the ECM, I believe, takes over from there and bases the pressure on rpm, ECT and maybe engine load. Kind of a chicken s**t way to make you think you have an oil pressure gauge.
  17. Most auto parts places will scan if for you and some will loan the tool out for a deposit. This could be APPS or VP or ECM or wiring related. Thats why knowing any codes is important. Are you seeing any blue smoke when this happens?
  18. Have you checked for trouble codes? It could be several things.
  19. My early 02 has the same switch, not sensor.
  20. Mine has never illuminated. While I have seen a little water over the years I have never seen much. While I do try to buy from well traveled stations it is just possible some of the places I go. I have bought at mom & pop places but not as a regular habit. Once I travel a road 3 or 4 times I usually know the busy and cheaper stations.
  21. Welcome back Stodg73.
  22. Well i am sitting on the fence with this with a HG replacement coming up. Would like to have quad one day maybe ibut cant see going over 350 may 400 hp. The studs really add to the cost. Just how much can the bolts hold up to safley? My oe ones anyway. As long as they are in spec any way.
  23. Pikers huh? Happy birthday. Hope you remember on sunday its your birthday. Seems I can remember most special ocasions 364 days out of the year but struggle on the actual day.
  24. I thought we all had one. Its just now in wrong place. The fuse that is.
  25. Someone correct me if I am wrong but the manifold temp is what to pay the most attention to so know whats happening inside the engine.
