Hurricane Florence
The fifth wheel is at the house for now. Safer there than here I think. Florence has to make her mind up first.

Another failed AD
From land fall about 250 miles to home in Hickory. That did not stop Hugo about 23 years ago. Did some damage but nothing structural. Walked around in some 60 mph wind that you could lean over and it would you up. I think the biggest danger up that way is rain. I have never seen any flooding in my neck of the woods. Not being there bothers me more than anything. Now I am about 160 miles from landfall here in SC. Still the storm looks to be slowing a little and turning towards us. We should be fine here but it is going to rain some kind of a lot. But it is mother nature and we will just have to see.

5 and 6 speed owners
Hard question to answer. Around town I can find myself in 5th at 35 mph. On the highway or in the country all different. Me I just shift when it feels right, no set rpm. Thats all empty by the way. Towing is bit different as in higher rpm, but still nothing set in stone.

Hurricane Florence

Another dead VP44
Dont take it personal please. A lot of us have had some bad experiences with the dealers. The biggest one I had was the in tank retrofit I got when my OE lift pump died. When the OE VP died I had a tech that talked to me about it alot and answered my question as much as he could. Seems fuel pressure problems I had to learn away from the dealer. It seems if I can learn about these things on the internet that the dealer could learn some also. Of course that means they dont sell the job since they dont do after market. Your insite is welcome here.

fuel problems
What codes are seeing since the CEL is on? The ECM should be controlling the pump. Key on you should experience a short bump of the pump, a second or less. You would probably have to have someone with there ear to the filler neck or under the tank to hear it. Then you can bump the starter, no engine start, and it should run for 20 or so seconds. That is the only time you will have power to the pump unless you are starting the engine or it is running. That is if it is connected to the ECM pigtail.

Another failed AD
Me wish me had a back up with the hurricane coming in. Cant get home, fortunately it looks like I will now get the most compared to Hickory NC. I am in Columbia SC. Damn thing looks to be hooking left on us.

Another failed AD
IIRC again the AD II's come with the regulator and the regular 150's and below have the spring and ball.
-
Another failed AD
IIRC the pimp I got back in 2014 had a manufacture date of 2012. That might have put me into the bad time. Hopefully yours will be OK.

Another failed AD
Thats why i like the adjustable regulator on AD II's. I have only mine 3 or 4 times on bith the pump heads. Its a real shame the the pump doen't work. I was hoping Imgot mine just before the problems but maybe not. And I hoped the second one was after the problems, maybe not again. Maybe the third time will be the charm, who knows.

Head gasket blown - Coolant leak
How many miles on it?

Another failed AD
Idling in the parki g lot today and I notice 0 FP. So I dig into it and no blown fuse. Plug another relay in and nothing, hot wire the pump nothing. I have power to the pump and the ECM is triggering the relay like it should but the pump is dead. The only thing I did not do is open the cover over the gear rotor to see if something got in there. Even if something was in there the pump is not even trying to run. Any suggestions?

Fuel pressure gauge.
Been thru the in tank pump so i highly recomend a FP gauge. I personally would not connect it to the test port and i have no idea what a Vulcan line kit is. I do know what a Vulcan Big line kit is. This is mine with the tap for the FP gauge between the VP and the filter canister.

ECM gone. What about VP
If you have time, take it. Research never hurts on electronics.

Head gasket blown - Coolant leak
Dosed it one time. It was in the overflow bottle when I changed the coolant a month back, a thick brown almost liquid. It did help but still makes wonder. I did a little extra flushing on that change.

Fuel pressure gauge.
Do you mean you are installing a Vulcan big line kit between the filter canister and the VP? I would tap that line for the gauge and leave the test port open, you might need it down the line to connect a mechanical gauge to verify your electric gauge is reading correctly. Are you still running the stock block mounted pump?
