  1. I googled it and sure enough there high amp upgrades for the Denso. The one I saw was around $70 for the new stator and front cover. I just cant seem to link it. It seems to me with that and $55 for diodes then whatever for brushes bearings and such you would be pushing $175 plus your labor. I think I would just buy a new one. Since I have shown electrically challenge arse enough, I think i will go back to my corner..
  2. What kind of lift pump do you have?
  3. The diode kit does not upgrade the amperage of the alternator. You need a new higher amp alternator to do that.
  4. Holy frijoles.
  5. I believe I would install it when I got just to be sure it works as advertised. Hate to see you put it on later just to find out you have problems after the warranty is up.
  6. I would have to hit the lotto to make mine look that good again. Not much I can for the mileage but I wear that with pride.
  7. About a year after I installed I started hearing all kinds of bad things about the MOOG products. Enough that I probably won't use them next time. But I do have 200k on them now and cant complain. Just relating experience.
  8. Yeah i knew there was problem and that kind of sealed the deal. It was strange.
  9. I have to agree. I have less than $200 in my MOOGs.
  10. I have not experienced that problem with mine. The improvement in vision was amazing as Mom experienced, the other weird part was I knew I had a problem, but when waiting on the doctor in the exam room I noticed that the walls were different colors with one eye compared to the other. Light blue with the strong eye and almost line tan with the bad eye.
  11. Good to hear you back up and running. My AD II has a pressure regulator on it. Seems I have heard many bad things about them here and elsewhere. But when I replaced my bad pump, one adjustment on install and one a little later when it settled down. Same thing I did when it was new. Just simple adjustment on the jam nut and the screw. Dont know why every one hates them so much.
  12. I will tell you something about living with out glasses. 14 or 16 years ago one of the lenses in my weakest eye clouded up. Went to the eye surgeon and he said it needed replacing. I signed up for the procedure and went in for the service. I went on the table and they cut my oe lens out and replaced it with a synthetic one. All of this while I was awake. It took about 1 hour from walking in, having the procedure, then sitting in a chair marveling what I could see with out glasses. My bad eye went from 20/140 to 20/40 and i am sitting there amazed and in no pain what so ever. Most amazing thing i have ever done to my sight my entire life. So if your vision is getting cloudy go have it checked out. It is just a bit life changing.
  13. I have never had an issue with. Mine gets driven almost every day of the year and right now I am going thru 2 tanks a week. Even closer to home I run a tank a week usually. Never sure on the fuel I run since 5% and less bio is not marked on the pump. I do run some 5% to 20% bio blend on occasions and have for several years with no issue in the filters. My filter has looked black like @CTcummins24V's picture in the past, just no strange crud in it. I change the filter of I see a change in the fuel pressure. I don't have a set service interval. Thru all of that I have fuel. Last time i looked in the tank clean as new. No crud. That was how ever well 200k ago.
  14. The j hook just holds the waste gate closed and the boost controller can be set to open the waste gate at a certain psi of your choice. Though that takes some trial and error from what I have read here.
  15. My experience exactly except with a different co. I wish $1000 was all I had to spend on that experiment. I know nothing of the people you used other than what is here. I feel your pain.
  16. That is the DRBIII tool from the dealer. It should do it all.
  17. The 01 and 02 ball joints are strange animals with there alignment. 150k or better is pretty darn good. The 3rd gen are different but if the AC delcos will last that long in an 01 and 02 that is pretty good statement on there quality from what I know. Matter of fact I don't think Dynatrac and some other of the HD ball joint co's even make a ball joint for an 01 or 02 4x4 and maybe 00. I have MOOG in mine with 200k on them. The have some wear and I will be due soon on replacing them.
  18. I have seen that color in mine before but no black granules with it. Any improvement with the new filter?
  19. Mine was like you had a toggle switch that would kill the motor and you flipped off then immediately back on. There was no lunge forward just a hard hit. This happened more when the motor was under load as in towing the fifth wheel. It was a bit unnerving when it would happen the jolt was pretty strong. I did have it happen a few times long before the other issues when I was hard on the throttle and empty but a fuel filter change fixed that. I was still learning about the truck then. Even then it acted the same just not as big a hit when the engine came back after that spit second of off. If you are due a filter I would give that a try maybe it is just that simple.
  20. Mine went from .035 to .010. This was measured across the batteries and at the alternator output.
  21. Here is a picture of my #5 line that broke. I would ignore the rust on the inner tubing beings that it has been laying in the bed of my truck for a couple months. The rest of the line has no rust on it but the original coating is mostly gone. This failed, as best I can tell, because one of the clamp blocks was missing and another was loose. The replacement line from Cummins cost $93. The clamp blocks, clamp and screw were $7 each for a total $28 for the one clamp that was missing.
  22. @Haggar has some good info on the the hydro boost rebuild. The shaft seal is the hard part. You need to see what it involves to install the seal. Not just a bolt on bolt off kind of thing. I need to do it myself but I put it off and the leak is small. Enough to see it on the upper floor mat.
  23. Can you be a little more specific. They have a lot of tools.
  24. You can see it with a mirror in the opening after pulling the breather. IIRC that is. Isnt the notch for the key visible?
