I guess I missed that guy cutting it with diesel but saw it in your post. Sounds like that guy soaks the whole post and then let dry for a while. I never heard of the charred wood before this.

I have done a little with waste motor oil but never stayed around long enough to see how it lasted. I did hear the works good but have no real experience with it. I was just out side talking to my daughter and was leaning against a clothes line pole in the back yard. It dawned on me that I put those poles in the ground near 25 years ago when we bought the house. They are treated pine 4 X 4's. The chemicals they used back then are probably a lot stronger than they are today. i leaned on them pretty hard and they did not give. They are not in cement either. The termites have not touched them either and do have them around here. You got the post and I'm sure you could scrape up the oile. I would give it a try. I dont know a thing about charring the wood.

You can submerge wood in water and it not decay. The water has to be low in O 2 and not hospitable for wood eating organisms. That is why they find some ancient shipwrecks in tact and other ones not. On the other hand air by itself will not rot the wood. Hang a board undercover so it does not get rained on and it will last for ever. If the wood goes thru wet and dry cycles and the temperature is good for wood eating organisms it will rot much quicker. This also depends on the species of wood. It is more of a combination of the 2 plus, a hospitable climate for wood eating organisms that does the damage. Holding moisture in the wood will rot it quick. @JAG1 I had to go back a reread. I thought you had said you treated yours. Thats darn good life out of untreated wood. I would agree on the concrete and the ease of removal.

Hey everyone
Same as mine. Looks good.

Ground posts and preservatives
Water is the enemy. There are other woods that might be better than pine it depends on what is more local to you area. Nothing wrong with PT pine but some is treated for above ground and not ground contact. It will usually state which it is on the lumber. Adding the copper napth will help the buried portion. If the soil you are working in drains well back filling with small stone like @JAG1 says will help keep the water away but if it has a lot of clay it might hold the water against the post. Concrete might be better for keeping it away but is a good bit more difficult to replace. Not sure there is any one way that is the best. Just depends on how much cash you want to spend. The pine is probably the easiest and most economical way to go. Cut the top of the post on a slight angle to let water run off and put some of the copper napth on them. Then let them weather and dry out before doing any thing else to them. There is alot different ways to a fence and as many different opinions. As stated before water is the common enemy to any of them.

7x0.0085 +75HP SAC Injectors from DAP
I got the removal tool with mine and as @TFaoro states above it is just a nut. I never could see how to use it on the recessed tubes. I just used a screw driver as before. I did however get the o rings.

What a day
My front bumper was almost inside her car and the other guys bumper was on top of her engine. Beamer Babes, what I am going to do with you. I gave her your phone number. It destroyed the bumber, covers and grille. It also tore my steering brace loose on the driver side and the sway bar came with. The steering wheel was turned about a quarter turn to drive straight. Drove fine all the way home. going under her here soon and get them both off and see it anything else appears to be damaged. Bent the right front fender in at the head light a little. They did not issue any last night. Just missed a call from the highway patrol officer so I am sure they are going to hand out a few before it is over with. The idiots that cut over into our lane to miss what was happening in their lane just kept on driving.

What a day
The beamer driver was shook up pretty bad and they took her to the hospital to check her out so hopefully she is OK. Once I got her out of the car she calmed down some but said her back and leg was hurting, but she was up and moving around. i do fortunately. Going to look at better in the morning but is should not be to difficult to fix. Thanks. Hope it will be also.

What a day
I am fine. Never much felt the impact. Air bags did not go off and neither did the beamers. The gal driving it was all to hell. Took me 2 or 3 minutes to get her to unlock the door. and talk to me. She hit the Dodge in front of her pretty hard then I hit her. I had my foot on the brake when I saw everyone slowing up in front of me. 5 cars in the lane beside and ahead of smacked into one another and folks in that lane darted over into our lane running folks into the emergency lane. Then the other truck hit the car in front of it and the beamer smashed him and then came the chicken man. Last man in the pile up. We went from 40 to 0 in quarter second.. Appreciate ya'll asking but I am fine but disgusted.

What a day
A perfectly cappy end to a perfectly crappy month. I think the beamer got the crappy end of the stick though.

CJ-4 vs CK-4 diesel oil
Maybe I can get us a bag of free chicken sandwiches.

CJ-4 vs CK-4 diesel oil
The articles I looked at included fleet trucking and and said they were backwards compatible for them also. I am NOT a big conspiracy thinker so I dont think that someone or the EPA is trying to take us all out but I understand the concern that some have. I hope I am not wrong. I think it would be bad business for the oil companies for that to start happening. I hope I am right, if not, I might not ever hear the end of this. @KATOOM I guess this means I get no chicken dinner?

CJ-4 vs CK-4 diesel oil
I did not do alot of in depth reading on the CK-4 but seemed what I did read said the CK-4 was backward compatible to ALL engines. It seems we have survived other oil specification changes so I dont see why we wont survive this one. The way I read it, it might even be an improvement. That being said I am still not an oil expert by any means.

CJ-4 vs CK-4 diesel oil
And doing it quite well I might add.

CJ-4 vs CK-4 diesel oil
If I changed my oil every time it got dark I would be changing 8 times a year. Mine darkens within 3k miles of changing it or less.

-
Factory alarm question
Maybe added after the original sale. My wifes 1st Dakota did not have cruise. We added it and it looked factory. Just like the one that came on my truck. Not sure what you have to add for the security system though.

Steering Pop/Click inside cab
I have read that also, but there has to be something in the top column to support that shaft. My noise is sure sounds like it is in the top and not under the hood.
