  1. Well I survived the night. I believe my grand daughters are protecting me. We shall see. I like Jimmy Stewart's explanation of the these things the best.
  2. I just shaped it by hand and used the bolts for the stock box to bolt it down. Kept it up off of everything including the AC line. I had to replace that line last summer and the replacement came bare. Had to insulate myself.
  3. I built a cradle out of some 1/2" aluminum flat stock to cradle the BHAF and keep it off of everything. It was still a little close to the AC line but the oe line was wrapped in foam and aluminum tape.
  4. Just pulled into the drive way from a week at work. The wife calls me right when I pull of the interstate. Wants to know when I am getting home. Tell her I am 10 minutes away. Lets me know my 2 grand daughters are here and a couple of other pleasantries and the says "WE NEED TO TALK". I am going in now. Keep me in your thoughts and I hope I dont need any prayers.
  5. Appreciate that sir.
  6. Dang, now I feel like the third woman in the room. If Saturday is the best you can do, I suppose I will be happy.
  7. It is hard to get the big line kit to do anything when you are still pulling fuel thru the stock lines.
  8. You got two women giving you a hard time and wont look at it and several men here that just want to see a picture of it. You need to get jumping there brother or else out to the wood shed with ya!!!
  9. It should come complete with all you need. Very much like the AD kits. Look them up on line and it will tell you what it comes with.
  10. I have seen the tanks with out the cap. That would take a little getting used to. For the most I have driven older vehicles most of my life. Went to Christmas party in Dallas Texas many many years ago. The company got me a rental car. While driving to the office it started raining and I had to pull off the road to figure out how to turn the wipers on. It was on a column mounted switch and I had never driven a car with one. Spent 15 minutes figuring out where all the switches were.
  11. the world seems to move a lot to fast for that story these days. But is heartening to that things like this do live on they are just harder to find in all the clutter. Hope you are doing well. think about the 2 of you a lot. just turned 64 yesterday and figured i might retire early and come rebuild the guest on higher ground.
  12. forgot about the G56. Still running the old nv5600.
  13. You might be amazed at how long a driveline lasts if you only put 350 or so HP thru it. I do plane to have the rear driveshaft balanced but still want to do the work myself. Already have the parts. I have the press and it will be the 4th time used it. Just trying to get my monies worth out of. Thanks for the retirement wishes. Wish you the best luck on your career. Hope the politicians dont F it up for the future. They sure are trying hard to do it.
  14. Other than replacing the front u joints the whole drive line after the tranny is OE. I have the part to do the rear drive shaft but am going to let a driveline shop at home do the front. Just dont want to mess with the dbl cardan joint my self. You are right, I have gotten my monies worth out of it. I needs some work but just keeps on going. I hope to retire here in 1 year 364 days. I will park it then and give her some big loving. Right now she is going to have to settle for a long kiss.
  15. Congrtas on the job and the business. I need to put some extra cash in mine. Just not seeing much extra these days. Mine is blue and silver and I have loved since I bought in in 01. While I am in mine more for longevity than monster HP, I can see why folks want more of the HP. I just have Comp on mine and it still amazes me how much power it produces. I can still jump most anyone on the interstate if I get a small jump on them. That being said I am only about 2 months away from turning 400k on big blue. I am getting a little a both worlds. I would not however pass up a chance to take a ride in yours if you cna keep it running right. Still cant believe you got it back after it was stolen. I just knew that turd was targeted.
  16. Nice ride and nice price on the extended warranty. That is alot cheaper than the one I got on the wife's 06 Dakota. Never had to use it. Any way nice ride ant the lady looks pretty happy too. Maybe you ought to put a NO DIESEL FUEL sticker on the gas cap. Old habits die hard some times.
  17. Correct me if i am wrong since it has been a while since you started this thread. But I seem to remember something about man being on a budget and not sure he could afford a full rebuild. This has gone far beyond that. Of course if i have this mixed up with another thread, my apolagies sir.
  18. One of the rigid strap oil filter wrenches might if it is that thin. I have had to use one mine every time I take it off. It is just like a strap wrench with a metal band. It is has always blown my mind I have to use one because I am the one that reinstalls by hand, but need a wrench to get it off.
  19. I was lucky enough to find a mechanic in a small town in Bolivar Tn that helped me with mine when the rebuilt, the second one from ASI, crapped out on me. He was familiar with the Dodges. He was a great help. Just wish I knew where else to tell you to find one.
  20. About 6 years ago I went in to get an alignment and was told I needed about $900 worth of work done to be able to align it. This was not replacing everything that you mention above. I ended up buying all the parts to rebuild the whole front end excluding the pittman arm. All new from there out including the ball joints. I spent close to $900 on parts and tools but ended up with a new front end.and about $200 in tools that have used for other purposes. As far as the work is concerned it is all pretty much bolt off and bolt on, not that difficult. It you have the original wheel bearings on they can be a challenge. The lower ball joints are tough too. I had to beat them since the ball joint press did not have a receiver cup that worked. It did work for the install. If you are handy with a wrench it is not that hard but you will spend some time doing. I probably spent 3 days doing mine but I like beer breaks when I have the time. You also have a 99 and mine is an 02 so I am not sure how different it would be but there are some differences between the 2.
  21. I replaced my dash with a LMC replacement not a cover. I never entertained the dash cover just thought it would be a band aid until the oe dash rotted out from under it. I did not look for one in you pull it place because even if it is not cracked when find how long might it last. So I bit the bullet and bought a full replacement. Replacing it is not as bad as I thought would be. The $300 for the dash sucked but I am glad I did it. I also rebuilt my HVAC box while I was in there. That cost me about $250 more but I hope I never have to go back in there again. So dont let the job scare you off, if it is lack of cash the cover would be understandable. I should add I have no experience with the cover nor have I seen one in person.
  22. I would have to agree with everyone that the brace is not going to stop it. I put on years to help with wandering. It may of helped a little. Never experienced DW until years later on an old set tires. New tires stopped for me. My track bar going south at the time also so I replaced that. worn front end part do not help either.
  23. I replaced my ECM about 6 years ago. It has a Cummins sticker with part #'s on it. The mechanic that got it installed told me it came from Cummins. I was pretty ignorant about the ECM's and took him at his word. So why the Cummins logo on the sticker? I see some like but most are not. I went the rebuild route prior to this with a company called ASI. It was a very bad and expensive experience. Do your research and get a good warranty. I wish someone to recommend. If I was shopping for one I would at least give Cummins a shout. Maybe the guy that did mine lied to me. Here is a link to one that looked like mine. Not promoting the company, I know nothing about them. My OE did not look like this. https://www.autocomputerexchange.net/288/dodge-ecm-ram-truck-2000-5-9l-i6-cummins-diesel.html?gclid=CKfciP31xtICFQS2wAod5JMMEA
  24. When my ECM went I got a lot high and low voltage codes, but I also how very high ECT readings on cold start and the engine would idle but the RPM's were all over. Touch the throttle and they would build so much I would have to shut the engine down. I hoping yours is just the wiring.
  25. Sorry missed that one. A little sarcasm.
