  1. Well if all calipers are leaking, that would be unusual. Since you just bought it, maybe they were all leaking prior to buying it.?
  2. I was wondering about this. The whole time I have owned my truck have never noticed going any where that had a #1 and #2 pump. All I ever remember seeing is the #2 pumps. I have been in a few places where the temps would get down to the low teens to 0, but not a steady diet of this. The first 8 years of ownership was spent up and down the east coast. Gets a little colder up in the NE, but I never went beyond NJ. I am just gong to have to assume the very few times I was in very cold locations the fuel was winterized and I just dd not know it. I was pretty naive about all this stuff until I found this group and am grateful to be here. Now I will be worried about it any time I am in the colder areas. I will sorely miss the "Ignorance is bliss" that I have gotten away with for so long.
  3. I'm not sure whats more impressive, his guitar or your log. Yours looks to have been more painful, his is more entertaining.
  4. The 01 FSM shows first a resonator and then the muffler with no mention of a CAT. Mine was definitely NOT a CAT. I have to agree with Tom.
  5. The leak will allow air back into the system which will allow fuel to drain back thru the overflow of the VP. At least that is my understanding. Fixing the tee and the sealing washers in the tee stopped a hard start issue I had a while back.
  6. If you still have stock exhaust, a muffler shop could make you something to replace the resonator. There is no CAT on your truck(01.5).
  7. Follow the return line off the VP to where it ties into a tee. That tee can leak and cause hard starting. There is also a line off the back of the head that ties into that tee and the sealing washers can go bad also causing the same issue, though the longer it sits the worse it gets, starting time that is and you say after sitting all night it starts ri ght up.
  8. The rear diff gets the modifier as long as it is a limited slip diff. If it is an open diff it does not need it. If you are not sure which you have, jack the rear wheels off the ground and spin one of the tires. Limited slip, both will spin the same way and the open will spin the opposite direction.
  9. I personally love the 6 speed. The extra gear is very nice when towing heavy in the mountains or any hilly terrain especially on secondary highways. The NV5600 biggest draw back to me is the cost. and the fact they are not made anymore. I bought one from a junk yard supposedly with 52k. $2500 delivered. Still felt that was better that the rebuilds I was looking at and I still have a core that will probably get rebuilt in the near future. A good 5600 rebuild is $3000 unless you have broken parts. I believe the 4500 is around $1500. The 4500 is more user friendly for repairs than the 5600. Mine came with no cooler but I recently added Fass coolers and a temp gauge. I dont know of any that came with coolers from the factory.
  10. Most definitely Just like braking to hard or down shifting quickly.
  11. Congrats to the Bison's Thundering Herd!!!!!!
  12. I am not going nor would I go to anything that cold, but I would be pulling for Green Bay. If anyone can take the cold they ought to be able to.
  13. I had a Banks tuner on mine came with a boost and EGT gauge. They both worked thru the tuner. When the tuner went south i lost both gauges. That is one drawback I see. I will put probably an Edge Comp on mine later this year but I will always have gauges no matter what I do since installing a set of stand alone gauges.
  14. I second the 275's. You might even see a little bump in mileage, I did. They also made a nice difference while towing over stock.
  15. I am running the 265 E's with right at 6K on the rear axle. Never had a problem with it for 12 years.
  16. I guess I should have read the previous post a little better. The 1/4" are easier to find locally.
  17. Vulcan has the needle valve you need.http://www.vulcanperformance.com/Brass-Needle-Valve-p/bnv.htm. Some folks get them at NAPA, but I got mine form Vulcan with some other things.
  18. Will do, oh Exalted One.
  19. Blew up a Glow Shift FP gauge sender and replaced with an Isspro mechanical. Both DAP and Vulcan can get you in a set of EV1's for about $325. Mechanical FP and boost, electric egt. This would include the 3 pod mount. Look for gauge packages on either site.
  20. My original bhaf got clogged with oil from the vent tube from the cad(acronym Mike)and reduced my boost pressure. That is how noticed it. I overfilled the front diff.
  21. A 2 stroke gas engine is not as fuel efficient and I would think that applies to a diesel also. I would think that a power stroke on every down stroke would put more stress on the engine. Just my .
