  1. Doing some searching it might be hard to get one very quick, your best bet would be to call some local diesel performance shops up and see if any of them have one you could get, otherwise looks like the valair starter spacer would be your best bet. http://www.dieselautopower.com/product_p/valair%20spacer%20kit%20v2151.htm
  2. Yikes! With your truck being a 6 speed its supposed to have a starter spacer, my guess would be the spacer is missing for that to happen to the starter.
  3. Yes if you pull the relay while the starter is running it should disengage it. If that works try switching the relay with another one and see if it works right, then you know if its in the relay or not.
  4. Either the new starter has a bad solenoid, the starter solenoid is sticking or the solenoid is getting power all the time for some reason.First thing I would do is double check the wires and relays, after that you could pull the starter and check to make sure the solenoid isn't sticking but chances are the starter solenoid is defective.
  5. On the tractors and trailers at work we use valvepal's to get the valve caps off the inner tires, then we have long pressure gauges and air chucks to check pressure and adjust as needed.
  6. What exactly do you mean by squirrelly?I'm not sure which process treadwright uses to retread their tires but my dad got a set of retreads put on the rear of his F-450 that were "cold" retreads and for the first few thousand miles when you took a turn after the tires got warmed up it felt almost like the rear end would start to drift uncontrolled and it was a scary feeling till you got used to it or it goes away.Just looked at treadwrights website and it looks like they used the hot wrap method for retreading which is a whole lot better than the "cold" retreading method.
  7. Welcome! Nice looking truck you have there. The screw on the exhaust elbow looks like its just plugging a port that you could put a pyrometer probe in.
  8. Yes there is, all you have to do is find the plug for it up under the dash by the top of the clutch pedal arm and put a jumper in the plug.
  9. I believe it should hold around 7oz from what I read a while back. In my experience though new compressors usually come pre-filled with oil, maybe yours isn't though.
  10. I was looking on Larry B's website last week and saw the banjo bolt with internal snubber that they have and since I hadn't installed my fuel pressure gauge in my new truck yet I went ahead and got one of them and installed it tonight. Its a 12mm banjo bolt with 1/8th NPT threads in the top and has a .0006 in. pinhole acting as the snubber. http://www.fostertruck.com/gauge-snubber-drilled-banjo-bolt-combo.html On the 12v's it replaces the banjo bolt that has the bleed screw on top of it on the fuel filter housing. Then you just spin your pressure gauge sender down in and hook it all up. Everything installed: checked my pressure at idle and it was 13psi and at WOT I never saw it drop below 14psi. I know since I have the P-pump I don't really need to monitor my fuel pressure like the VP44 guys do but I have the pressure gauge so I figured I would use it. I plan on going to the hardware store and getting a new spring for my overflow valve to get my pressure up in the 20psi range at idle but first I'm gonna see what happens after a filter change since it didn't look that good when I had it off to change my fuel return line last week.
  11. Was it a BP station by chance? All the BP's here are like that. I had to double and triple check to make sure I was using the right nozzle when I last stopped at a BP, gas nozzle was green and diesel nozzle was black  Sent from my XT907 using Tapatalk 2
  12. I would think it would have that stuff on it, at work we use Cummins insite and it's always referring to quick serve for that stuff. We don't have a quick serve account though so I can't check it out. Sent from my XT907 using Tapatalk 2
  13. Welcome, nice looking truck you got there. You're not to far from me, I'm just down in Millersburg. Sent from my XT907 using Tapatalk 2
  14. Glad I could help you find the article. It is sad that this happened, my prayers and condolences to the family.Sent from my XT907 using Tapatalk 2
  15. I did a little searching in Google but this is the closest thing I could come up with using your info. http://www.stltoday.com/news/local/crime-and-courts/dead-in-scott-county-ill-homicides-authorities-say/article_182b1da7-0391-5da8-b4ba-526faf999975.html
  16. I had that problem at first with mine but then I figured out that if I put the transfer case in 4wd then let out on the clutch as I was pulling on the cable for the CAD I could lock it in any time I wanted.
  17. I made a home made posi-lock kit that I put on my old truck, all you need is a long twist lock cable, a compression fitting to go over the cable where it goes into the fork housing and a spring to return the fork to the unlocked position. I think I have pictures somewhere of how I did mine, I'll have to see if I can find them when I get home.Sent from my XT907 using Tapatalk 2
  18. I've never heard of valves tightening up over time. If I remember right the valve lash spec are .010-.020 intake and .015-.025 exaust. As long as yours are somewhere in that range you're fine. Sent from my XT907 using Tapatalk 2
  19. I would start by just looking at the wires going to your turn signal/brake lights, chances are you will find a spot where the wires have rubbed through. I'm trying to think exactly which wires would be crossing/shorting but its been a long day and my brain isn't functioning 100% right now
  20. Those sound like pretty normal operating pressures to me. What makes you think they are high? Sent from my XT907 using Tapatalk 2

  22. To relieve the tension on the leaf springs you want to jack up on the frame of the truck till the tires are just coming of the ground.Sent from my XT907 using Tapatalk 2
  23. It will have either a Dana 80 or a Dana 70. You should be able to find a build sticker that will tell you what axle you have if I remember correctly it's either on the underside of the hood or in the glove box. Sent from my XT907 using Tapatalk 2
  24. The description he gave you sounds to me alot like when the spider gears go out.Sent from my XT907 using Tapatalk 2
