  1. Welcome to the site! The guys that I work with put a cummins in a 1500 a few years back, one of the truck drivers at work owns it now and it gets the crap run out of it. As far as what was done to the truck to support the swap it has a 3/4 ton rear axle and its got the 2500 springs in the front but still has the stock 1500 front axle.
  2. Hmm Things I want to do to my truck...Clutch, probably a DD since I want to do some pulling.Traction bars.5x.012 or 5x.014 injectors.BHAF (probably getting this at Napa today)Head studs.Upgraded turbo.Window tint. Cab lights. Upgrade headlights.I also need to do some body work and paint the truck as well. Sent from my XT907 using Tapatalk 2
  3. With how your pump is set up you should be able to roll quite a bit of coal if you mash on it, if not I would say you have some type of fueling issue somewhere. My truck is set up similar to yours and after I put my boost elbow in I could hit 40psi no problem till I got it adjusted right.Sent from my DROIDX using Tapatalk 2
  4. I guess there is such a thing according to my Dad, or at least he made something that did just that on one of his old trucks that he had. Its what he suggested I do with the 96 that I had since its parking brake wasn't worth a crap, surprisingly the parking brake works great on the 97 I have now
  5. I know what you mean, its hard to get these wiring diagrams to flow nicely, the first attempt I made was alot more of a mess than the one that I showed in my last post.
  6. Made this up in OpenOffice Draw tonight, this kinda what you are looking for ISX? PDF is attached for better viewing as well as the .odg file if you want to play around with what I have made already. Editable .odg file: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/992624/FSS_wiring.odg FSS_wiring.pdf
  7. I have one of glowshifts 3in1 gauges and haven't had any trouble with it in the two or so years that I've had it.Sent from my DROIDX using Tapatalk 2
  8. Its a 97 12v, details of it are in my signature. First thing I'm gonna do to it is get it breathing better with a BHAF and a 4" exhaust.Sent from my DROIDX using Tapatalk 2
  9. Here's a picture of my new truck that I picked up about a week ago.
  10. Something else I just thought about is if there was a crack/hole in the boost diaphragm in the top of injection pump. What it does is once you build boost it move the fuel pin down to give the truck more fuel, so if it has a hole in it the fuel pin won't be moved and thus you will have low power. This doesn't happen very often but its something worth checking if everything else checks out okay.
  11. on the first gen trucks there's basically only 2 things that it could be, either its a air problem or a fuel problem. If there is more black smoke than you usually see I would start looking at your intercooler and intercooler boots for leaks, also check the waste gate on the turbo if your truck has a waste turbo. If you don't have smoke I would be looking at the fuel supply, checking all lines for leaks and making sure the lift pump is pumping, then lastly get the injection pump checked. Also there is no ECM on the first gen trucksSent from my DROIDX using Tapatalk 2

  13. For the first time in a very long time diesel is cheaper that gas! although I don't think it will last long
  14. If I remember right when I had my multimeter hooked up to my IAT sensor my readings were always within about 20 degrees of the outside temp as taken from ISX's chart he made, but this is with the stock HX35Sent from my DROIDX using Tapatalk 2
  15. You can push the HX35 farther (heard of people pushing them up to 50psi) with enough fuel but the generally accepted max safe boost with the HX35 is 30-35psi.Sent from my DROIDX using Tapatalk 2
  16. I always have to give mine a little bit of throttle too for it to start instantly, and actually its been that way for all 3 of the P-pumped 12 valves that we've had. My dad's 91 VE-pumped truck starts instantly without giving it any throttle like the 92 you talked about. So to sum it all up I think giving the 2nd gen 12 valves a touch of throttle to start is normal. Sent from my DROIDX using Tapatalk 2
  17. From the time I was 15 or so till the end of October of last year I worked for my dad building storage barns and doing whatever other construction projects people had for him to do, then last year I started at a local trucking company washing trucks and since about a month ago I am now a maintenance mechanic for the same company. On the side I also do repairs on just about anything electronics, computers, cars/trucks, lawn equipment, and the list goes on.I'm thinking about possibly joining the USAF here in the next year or so too but I'm still not quite sure what I want to do yet.
  18. I don't really care for the cabover jeep but I really like the looks of that J-12 concept
  19. Alright thanks for the input guys I will have to try it again when I get a chance. Putting it in 5th sounds like a great idea, I had a hard time loosening and tightening that nut when I had it off before since I was doing it by myself.
  20. This past Saturday I was planning on taking my injection pump off so that I could replace my tappet cover gasket since its leaking pretty good, but I could not get the injection pump gear to budge. I took the nut and washer off the shaft then put my puller on it and all I managed to do was bend the steel plate part of the puller and one of the 10.9 hardness bolts, the gear did not move at all. So I am at a loss of what to do next, did I miss something? or is my gear just really stuck on there?
  21. Yes that is the standard 12v cover and it has the breather hose barb on it back by the stock fuel filter location.
  22. One thing you might want to check is your axle vent tube/hole to make sure its not plugged. On my 96 D80 the vent is on the drivers side axle tube integrated with a brake line fitting thing that sits on the axle tube. The pinion seal on my axle was leaking about a year ago and I was about to have it replaced but then I was told that if the vent tube is clogged some pressure will build up in the axle and push oil out the pinion seal, so I cleaned my axle vent out and I haven't had any trouble with it leaking since then.
  23. From the research I've been doing on swapping my driveline into another dodge truck what I've found is that in 98 the wiring harness' changed, so putting a 94-97 cab on your 2001 truck your wiring harness wont plug into the connector on the 95 cab.
  24. Regular gas jumped up here about 20-30 cents here in the past week from being in the $3.4x range to $3.79 today, diesel went from being $3.85 up to $3.99 now.
  25. That looks normal to me, my turbo is like that too, from what I've heard thats how they balance the compressor wheel.
