I just changed my fluid & filter & now it slips if I'm not carefull between 1&2. Put some Lucas in it & as I drive it is getting better.When I had my ECM reflashed for the jumping out of overdrive issue, the tech guy said my TC was getting weak. So the only way I can sort of afford a rebuild is to do it myself.That RevMax rebuild kit & TQ is pretty affordable & all the equip they use to build to build it w/ is all USA! I'm running both. Low pres on vp44 & Gauge off of the top of my 98 stock fuel can. At idle I have 17psi or so & at 55 I have 15psi. I was a little concerned about having to put a switch on the +hot line, I read that some guys were having issues w/ startup pres on the vp44's diaphram, but not the case w me. Maybe only a half a crank more if I need usethe grid but starts just as soon as i touch the key. Better than any gasser or anything eles I've ever had 13yrs old w almost 190K I think that's pretty amazing! Keep mine Cummins, Dave

Tunklo,I think the best bang for the buck after all the research I've done is the Air Dog Raptor. I just installed it last week. I've had my truck 3 years & I'm still nursing a weak VP44, it hasn't gotten any worse, just keep Biodiesel or Check out Michael's link on 2cycle oil. The problem is we can't run ULSD diesel in trucks that were designed to run LSDYep I agree, low MPG's is a sign that the VP44 is on it's way out! Just remember that anything 10 years old is going to need parts renewed, Ball joints, auto trans, steering, it's just being used for what it was intended. These are great trucks with million mile motors.Welcome,Dave

So it's the injectors that that make this VP44 24V rattle, huh, I wondered!I talked w/ a guy that uses his 2001 for his lawn mowing biz. He has his tuner box, paid $500 for it, I don't remember what brand, said he gets 30 set on eco mode. I don't know if he's full os S--- or not! No power tho! No mods just the box!Dave

The only rust out spot on my truck is the LF fender so I cut out the rust & butt welded in some 16G metal patches. I need to get behind the plastic fender liner to get some paint & under coat.How do I pop out the plastic retainers. Mine look like they have rivits, so after I pull 'em they're probably toast right? Just cut the heads? Where do I get good ones that hold this well? I bought others that just slide in and are like shredded but don't really hold well. What do you all use & get them?I used those cheapie ones for my stock air filter cover base & they don't really hold that well! I don't what my liner falling while I'm driving!Thanks,Dave

Yes Sir, that's what I want to do! I'm running a low pressuse warning light off of the VP44 is the only thing I'm not sure of unless I can run it off the other port off of the fuel canister. Does it matter where the low pressure light is? I would think that the same pressure would be on top of the canister or a foot or so down the line on the VP44. Might even save the sensor by not getting hammered by the IP. Thanks for your replies guys, Dave

I got the quick connect w/ the big line kit. But it only goes to the filter. So from the filter to the VP44 is the stck line. Does anyone make a big line kit that goes the rest of the way. it doesn't have to be a quick connect. I have a standard cab & the connections were a pain in the neck to find a place to make work. Sort of looks rigged the way I have it. I'll see if I can post some pix!Thnx, Dave

On my 98.5 It says inside cluster, think that would be it? When I took out the fuse the inside dash panel lights still worked. Mini add a fuse that's a new one on me, not sure what that is. Does it help w/ keeping it attached to that 5 amp mini fuse, maybe? I'll do a google on it, thanks, Dave --- Update to the previous post... OK did a google, how cool is that. So I would use a 5 amp one then? All parts stores carry that? So I would have 2 5amp fuses corect? In the same spot.

Well I finally installed my Air Dog Raptor. Along w/ that I put in a FP & Trans Temp gauges. Where do I get a hot line that works w/ the light switch?Thanks, Dave

The places where our trucks rust is the doors. WD40 on the seams around the rubber, fogging oil up the drain holes. The fenders where you open the hood is an air fent, spray into w/ water everytime you wash your truck. Crawl under your truck in the rocker area are rubber plugs spray 'em down w/ WD40 to make 'em come out easier & spray holes w/ WVO, Fogging oil or UMO. Whatever you have. Also do the same w/ the area above the bed fender liners.The guy that does rust repair work up the road from me uses por15 on his rust repair work. He buys a patch panel cuts out the entire area & glues it in w/ panel adheasive but after he uses por15. He says his patches last longer than the rest of the truck. You can read more in Diesel Power Magazine, they did an article on cleaning up a frame on a late 90's Fjord.

I'm wondering if it's the contacts in the main switch itself on the dash? How would I check that? Luckily I don't drive her much now during the winter, she's in the garage out of the snow & away from the salt.Thanks,Dave

Hi Guys,I've been experiencing problems w/ my heater blower not working. I don't know if this may have anything to do w/ it at all or not, in the mornings when I'm hooked up to my horse trailer all accessories are running no fan on any setting. In the afternoon it just seems to start working after I drive for a bit, 20 mins. or so.I've tried it w/o any lights on when this happens in the mornings but nothing.
