  1. Bitsy is short, for "Bacon Bits", not small. She is already big, Not gonna be bacon either Lol She outgrew the house so she has her own now. It was down to 5* this morning so I am going to winterize her house some more today. They say -5* before the week is over, that's rare for us. Sealed off the lattice with heavy plastic and made a flap out of an old bed sheet, grease rag from the shop
  2. If it were me I think I would question my gauge under those conditions. That seems really low, at least on my truck it would be.
  3. "Bitsy" my potbelly piggy.
  4. He means this: "The fan clutch AND a clean air flow over the radiator". IBMoble, what were the ambient temps and is your pyro post turbo?
  5. It sounds like your master switch is working. The push button starter switch should just be a simple 2 pole switch. Power in and power out. Make sure it has power in, when the master is turned on and the out pole, wired to the starter solenoid.
  6. That manifold is the tappet cover. The ECM mount looks a little different because the foam/plastic "noise Panel" is gone. Nice truck too!
  7. I agree. It might just need a fuel filter change.
  8. A 7 spd. would be awesome, however, it don't help the gap between direct and top gear. When you tow heavy, a gear between them would be great, 500 rpm is too much gap. The auxiliary 3spd in my Ford is great, 27% under and 15% over. 15% is 300 rpm, 27% is about 500 rpm. The 5 spd Clark I have in it also has a good overdrive gear .80 v/s my NV5600 .73. With 4.10 gears and double overdrive, I am real close in overall ratio as my '01 Dodge with 3.55's. including tires size difference's.
  9. My results with EZ/RV's mirror's Katoom, I used it for 12 years, awesome torque but a little shy on the HP, for passing.
  10. Where did you mount the air compressor? My Ford has air/Pac brake but it is all under the hood, so no worries. My Dodges are both vacuum, they are fine too. It can get cold here where I live
  11. I have always said the same thing, however, now they are not the same. My new 180* Cummins is working great. It wants to run at 183* at real light cruise and seems to open at 188*. At idle or slight down hill it will drop to 178* I have only had one good hill so far, but on that one, the fan kicked on at 197* and the ECT cooled immediately.
  12. Thanks for the pictures, now I don't know what to think, Lol Maybe I just got a bad one, or when it warms up I will still have issues. More pictures... https://www.genosgarage.com/category/thermostat
  13. Keep in mind, during cold weather operation and low engine power output, the heater and bypass system will allow cooling below the closed point of the thermostat. Part of the problem, is, those of us with digital temp gauges see temp swings that the oem gauge wont register. I finally gave up on my Napa 180* thermostat and Hayden fan clutch (2) and installed a 180 t-stat from Cummins and installed my old Mopar fan clutch. Initial runs are very promising, still too early and cool to tell for sure. ofelas, has really helped me out on my overheating issue. He has had some real good suggestions, so I think we are gaining. I think the Napa t-stat was not opening far enough to heat the radiator, so no wonder my fan clutch would not engage until the engine temp was off the chart. The ECT was hot but I don't think the radiator was. I wonder if my Napa was the wrong t-stat for the application. From all my research, it appears that the disk style is 12 valve and the button type is 24 valve and fits all the way to 2018. Cummins on the left and Napa on the right.
  14. If you have a choice, I would not go open diff. They use 2 pinion gears, limited slip uses 4 and the metal of the carrier is better, less cast iron. The opens are soft and can cause a carrier bearing to spin on the ring gear side, due to the torque of the Cummins. This is not as big an issue on the D-80 v/s the D-70. I think yours are D-80's so it may or may not matter to you.
  15. 326k on my oem vp, several oem lift pumps, an Airtex, DDRP and now a Raptor. I always run on the top half of my fuel tank. Low fuel is harder to pump. Low fuel is hot fuel, hot fuel = hot vp.
  16. How much air are in the tires? They appear to have too much, looking at the wear mark in the picture.
  17. Do you have a tranny temp gauge? My '01 with nv5600 (360lbs) and D-80 new with me in it weighs 7k. Your filter is fine, as is, as far as fuel mileage goes, not sure about filtering tho Your 11 mpg is not caused by small issues, you have a biggie somewhere.
  18. If the OP's complaint was 1 or 2 mpg low, then maybe. But that's not his issue at 11 mpg empty. He is driving a Yukon, maybe 6k lbs, he has a serious issue, in my opinion. Transplanted electronic automatic transmissions can give you fits. He is using too much power at idle and cruising. Like the tranny is partially in two gears or something...
  19. Are you running any belt or gear drive accessory's? What are you using for an air filter and piping? You should be running under 300* and no boost at idle. Is it possible your auto tranny is in gear, in park? Maybe linkage or electronics not quite right on the tranny?
  20. Some info here: https://mopar1973man.com/topic/14783-n5600-fuller-8406-swap/
  21. This appears to be the one you want if Napa is ok: https://www.napaonline.com/en/search?text=oil%2Bpressure%2Bgauge%2Bswitch&q=N%3D5002000%2B5002200%2B200220100%2B10200200%2B599999900%2B402203300%2B2500015%2B2601504%26Nty%3D1%26Ntt%3Doil pressure gauge switch%26Ntk%3DKeyword&isApplication=true&indices=API I don't know if it is a typo or what but look at the price of the '01 sensor: https://www.napaonline.com/en/search?text=oil%2Bpressure%2Bgauge%2Bswitch&q=N%3D5002000%2B5002200%2B200220100%2B10200100%2B599999900%2B402203300%2B2500015%26Nty%3D1%26Ntk%3DKeyword%26Ntt%3Doil%2Bpressure%2Bgauge%2Bswitch&isApplication=true&indices=API
  22. Cool thanks. I wonder if this is random or a trend they are seeing? Most CP3/4 failures that I know about are usually water related issues. Makes you wonder if in fact the customer did check/drain his water separator, a month goes by really quick...
  23. Are these vehicles still under warranty? How many miles are we talking? Does your mechanic have the vehicle maintenance history?
  24. Where did you learn this? Without maintenance history, how can we determine Ford CP4's are at fault?
  25. 4.10's are a towing beast but sure do suck empty on the big highway I always figured 4.10's were somewhat hard on overdrive, in manual transmissions, due to the fact they will pull forever in top gear. The 3.55's will force a downshift, a good thing.
