Amazingly, nothing has touched the BHAF.... Yet. This is making me consider reinstalling the old air box - though some rodent took a bite out of it, too! I have every intention of putting in some lengths of wire for the repairs, not trying to only use the factory wire - there are pieces that are nearly chewed through in 2-3 places. I have used Critter Ridder in the past, just never under the hood. And, the squirrels in that situation continued to eat my house where applied.- Squirrels Got Me Good
Somewhere around here I have a couple sets of removal tools. They are not where they should be! However, I still don't know how to take apart this connector - or even if I need to, but it sure appears I do. So far none of the videos I've watched has been of use. Sounds like you and I need to eat more rodent/vermin.- Squirrels Got Me Good
Drove the truck last Tuesday, then proceeded to get awfully sick so truck sat and became a nest. Wanted to move my trailer, no start, and found this. No idea how to take the pins out of the plugs so I can attempt repair. Guess I'll research this over the weekend. Sweatshirt weather today, and Winter begins tonight with sleet and snow, and 4 degrees by Sunday! Late start this year.- 2WD Napa Ball Joints
Just keep in mind NAPA doesn't make very much; they own Echlin last I checked, so electrical parts/sensors may be all they make. [Edit: it would seem I "misremembered" and neither owns the other: https://www.encyclopedia.com/social-sciences-and-law/economics-business-and-labor/businesses-and-occupations/echlin-inc] I swear the AC Delco track bar I bought from RockAuto was the same as the better NAPA unit based on "sales photo", specs, etc. Like their rebranded WIX filters.- True HX35
Ha ha ha! Yeah, it never posted while I was watching so I kept hitting "Submit Reply" and finally gave up and went to bed. I guess they ALL finally went through! Sorry about that.- True HX35
Any chance your gauge is just off? Electric gauge or pneumatic? How many miles are on those stock injectors? Do you have good lift pump pressure? Do you feel like the truck is underperforming? If you didn't have a boost gauge would you think anything is wrong? Is the truck blowing smoke?- Another new guy from Mtn Home
I don't really know the answer to that, but I know this big spin-on version has less pressure drop, just by blowing through them both. Inside, it's a rather fine (140 micron) metal screen, it's not a "filter", per se. I really think that big canister acts like a big sediment bowl, too. The velocity through it has got to be a snail's pace compared to the inline filter. One of these days I'll cut it open to see what it caught. At around 300k miles I cleaned the inside of my fuel tank, though a previous owner may have cleaned it before. I got enough crap out of there to fill a tuna can, and it had about clogged the filter sock. In 75k miles I have cracked the water separator several times on my truck between filter changes, and all that has run out has been fuel. The WIF light was never on, it was just convenient so I did it. I do my best to fill up at places where it looks like they care about (and service) their equipment/filters, so maybe that's why I haven't got any water. My 2005 Volkswagen is a diesel, and it doesn't have a water separator or water sensor. Maybe it's true that western Europe has higher standards for fuel and cleanliness.- Another new guy from Mtn Home
Your order of operations makes sense to me. Also, I have installed the FASS DRP on my frame and it works great for my truck. I actually started by just relocating the factory pump and saw immediate gain in fuel pressure. Last year I got rid of the silly disposable prefilter and added a big spin-on screen. I made a quick post about it at the time, I'll search for it and post the link. https://mopar1973man.com/topic/18093-donaldson-upstream-spin-on-screen/- DAP Performance Injectors
I have a 2001 with rear disc brakes, so a 2001.5 is what some call it. I changed my turbo to a HE351W based on price and the experience of BlueOx01 who I believe was the first person on this forum to install that turbo, and which at least one knowledgeable person (I believe it was AH64ID) described as similar to a modern version of the HX40/35 hybrid that Mopar1973Man and others run. My current injectors are just factory reman Bosch. I chose 8-hole injectors versus 7-hole in the hopes that a higher number of smaller jets of diesel may gain me some small boost in efficiency by providing a finer spray. I also chose "100 HP" versus 125 or 150HP just in case my Quad failed far from home and I would have to switch back to stock; when I bought the injectors, I had not yet purchased or installed the newer, larger turbo. My daily driver right now since I'm not traveling to job sites near as much is a 2005 Volkswagen Passat, TDI. I like getting 40 MPG and it's easier to get my kids in the back seat!- DAP Performance Injectors
No, I'll get to them eventually. Sunday I drove the truck for the first time in a couple months and remembered how much I love it - except the steering. I need to give the steering box a little 1/8-1/4 turn adjustment to see if that helps. With the wife and kids going to the in-laws for Thanksgiving, I get a few days to myself! If I can score some similar over their Christmas break, I should get the injectors swapped - I'm not very fast at it, unlike some guys around here.- Timbos APPS time
Funny that I have a brand new one on the shelf and you don't! I went to install the one I bought from you and discovered my truck already had a Timbos installed!- DAP Performance Injectors
It means to set up the injectors (via internal shims, etc) so that the beginning of injection starts at 320 BAR - and a BAR is approximately one atmospheric pressure, or 14.7 PSI (sea level). The injector shop does this, you would not need to take them to another place to have this done. I bought a set of their 8-hole 100HP injectors about a year ago and have so far not found the time to install them 😒. And since a squirrel decided to have a field day under my hood - along with other maintenance required - it may not happen any time soon.- DAP Performance Injectors
Many, many people here - including Mopar1973Man himself - run DAP injectors and like them.- It's Getting Worse Out there......
I disagree with this. This makes it so that only independently wealthy can run for office - since it has basically become a full time job - or their influence/power/votes/crackhead son's paintings will be even MORE for sale. This was debated at the Constitutional Convention.- It's Getting Worse Out there......
I really like what this organization does! Get my Imprimis letter every month and share with anyone I can. First thing that popped up on Duck Duck Go for search of "tucker Carlson patriot purge" but was nowhere in sight on Google. Imagine that. My truck has an Auto, so I had it even worse! I'd be trying to navigate leaving a parking spot, just idling then all of a sudden BAM! Almost smacked a couple of vehicles, but learned to blip the throttle once before actually putting the truck in gear.- Dripley is Okay....
Any update? I haven't seen any posts by him in a very long time.- Who likes Bilsteins?
Yes. They may be doing something, but nothing like when they were new. It oscillates 2-3 times after I let go. I really liked them when new!- Who likes Bilsteins?
They certainly won't break the bank to try out. Hopefully your experience is better than mine. I just checked, and I only have about 50,000 highway miles on my 4600s on the front, and they are far gone, should've changed thousands of miles ago. I rarely venture off pavement, and I am conscious of driving to extend suspension component life - like slowing for curbs, potholes and the like. Maybe 45,000 is okay for the application, with that heavy engine up front!- Who likes Bilsteins?
I'm not sure how many miles are on my blue and yellow Bilsteins, but the front are junk already based on the bumper jounce test. I bought some KYBs to go on one of these days, based on reviews on this site.- Quadzilla Adrenaline with iQuadBT from DAP
Tap the gear symbol in the upper left corner. There you will see "settings". And also "custom tuning".- Intermittent Surging and ECT
Yes, that would likely blow my theory. Did 98.5 trucks read their tach signal from another sensor? Thankfully I haven't had to deal with a 98.5 since 2005 when my girlfriend of the era bought one so I bought a 1999 FSM. I guess I could look up the FSM on here to answer that, but really should get back to work :D- Intermittent Surging and ECT
If the S165 ground is bad, being that it is shared by the ECT and Cam/crank sensor (if applicable to 98.5 models), then I would think fixing the ground would fix both issues.- Suggestions for injectors, turbo, head gasket.
I had to set my turbo timer back up to around 325 degrees at our old house. Too often I'd come home late at night, and our neighborhood was up a good hill, so EGTs would climb. Blasted thing wouldn't shut off for about a minute when at 275, and my driveway was right outside neighbors bedroom window! "Sorry 😐" The full synthetic oil seemed to have handled that higher temp okay. - Squirrels Got Me Good
