Over 2 Yrs For A Divorce
Seems like when you feel you're really down in life, you can always find someone else that is a bit further down. MM, you and Mike should walk proud, you deserve it. She needed someone at that moment and you both were there. You will never be forgotten. Sad part, we all get there at one point or another in life. Just hope there's always that ray of hope when ya need it. (And by the way, my divorce from my 1st wife took just over 3 years. We just grew apart and knew we needed to be alone at the time. We started the divorce in a friendly manner and ended it the same. The divorce rates were high then and the court wait time was long. I baffled us both. We wondered how long it would have taken if we were mad at each other instead ?)

Kids Misbehaving?
My old man would have loved doing that to me. But when I was a kid, the fastest would have been a DC3.

Career Change.... Whats It Like As Rv Salesperson?
The only sales person I have known recently sold Peterbilts, not to close to RV's. But he said one thing every sales person should be prepared for are the people that will leave you wondering why you wanted to sell. He said most everything mentioned in the above threads and also know that there are people out there, and they are few, that are just plain a$$es. Most people are good polite people that actually helps you make the sale to them, but there will always be ONE, sooner or later that will intentionally try to ruin your day. Just take it as a grain of salt and continue having a good day. As I said, he told me what was mentioned in the prior threads, but he kept a positive attitude and always greeted every customer with a smile in his 40 years of selling those rigs, and had many return customers who only wanted to deal with him. When he passed away, there were customers that filled the chapel and the flowers were by the tons.

What To Use In Sub Zero Temps..
Mike when I first bought my truck I was trying different filters each change. I've used the NAPA/Wix, Fleetguard, Mobil1, Baldwin and Donaldson to name a few. No matter what I had on, I pulled the drain plug about 1/2 hour to one hour after driving it and let it drain for an hour. I have 'always' found the filter about 1 1/2" to 1 3/4" below the lowest threads when pulled.

What To Use In Sub Zero Temps..
I swear by 5w-50 year round. But where you live, I'd run the 0w-40. I know there have been big discussions on dino vs. sync oil, but I will only run the sync. Doing this, I feel comfortable going anywhere except to Alaska / Canada in the middle of winter, then I will change out to the 0w-40.And the comment on the Donaldson filters, I only use their ELF series now. After sending samples into Blackstone, I'm happier. About a year ago I asked BlackStone Labs what is the best full sync oil they found i their sampling, and their answer was any of the major brands full sync oils that are rated for our diesel engines are fine. Just stay away from the mix blends or lesser known off brands. If you have a question on oil, call or email them, they respond promptly.

Anyone Had Trouble With Spare Tire Winch?
Damn it all, now ya got me thinking. I have yet to have a problem and didn't anticipate any. Now I'm thinking I better look it over again for the hell of it. The wife and I are thinking of a trip soon and that's the last thing I want to think about. Got enough with diesel prices bouncing all over the country, and not my spare bouncing pass me.

Snow, Snow!
At the beginning of last winter, one of my grandsons and I had a discussion about a website my son showed him about snow. It was the comment that there is no two snow flakes alike that intrigued him. Seeing I like to tease my kids and grandkids, I said if he can show me 2 that are identical, I'd give him $20.00. What I didn't know was this 3 year old went out each day and started looking all winter, but frustrated since he can't see them long enough to check. My son can't seem to make him understand he can't catch them with just his bare hands. I guess I need to talk to that young one.

Anyone Had Trouble With Spare Tire Winch?
When I bought my truck, the first thing I did was drop the spare, flipped it so I can air it easily, shot some silicone spray in the cable unit and raised it. I drop it once per year to check my spare and shoot spray in the cable unit. Never had a problem with it, nor anticipate an problem. But I will also admit, I have a chain with a lock on it to hopefully slow up someone stealing it and if the cable did break.

Updated Chart Of Fluids?
I'm all for this. The only way I know is contacting the dealer, and auto parts store I actually trust or another thing I do is check the recommendation for my vehicle from Amsoil. Not for only using their product, but using it as a comparison to other products. Then buy where I feel best. Outside of that, it's been a hit or miss for me.

dagnabbit... now I gotta take a drivers' test.
You get into habits that you have to work with. For me, it's not forgetting licenses renewals, it's seat belts. I haven't hooked up since I've moved here and most no one does in the 3 counties around me. Then when you travel, it's a nightmare to remember and frustrating to wear them. Last March I went over 2,000 miles and when my daughter seen us pull up, came to great us. A cop was driving by and asked why I was not wearing a seatbelt and all I could say was I was just repositioning the truck to park in the driveway. He mentioned I needed to hook up no matter what and left it at that. Then like an idiot, I drove to see my son a week later and went 550 miles and forgot again. It's hell getting old.

Been a while since I tried something like this, but can you get stainless tubing and bend your own ? With SS tubing, you'll never worry about it again.

Kidney Stones..enough to make a grown man cry!
It's been many years since I seen a documentary of a specific treatment for stones. They discusses the old operation style of removal, when needed. But they covered a, at that time, new method. They x-rayed to see exactly where the stone was, placed the guy in a tub of warm water and used sonic vibrations from a new design machine that vibrated and broke the stone down to very tiny particles. Prior to the treatment, the guy was given fluids to start flushing his system. When checked out as stone free ??? The guy stated he felt a tickling feeling inside, and nothing when the stone material passed.Seems it would be a standard if it was that good.Where the heck did this treatment go ?

Kidney Stones..enough to make a grown man cry!
My son in law has this problem and my daughter had him take bitter mellow. This seems to help him pass the stone without issue. He like a beer once in a while, but because he's a trucker, he can't use this much. Thought I'd through this in and if it helps, like it does him, all the better. And yes, this is the closest a man can experience to what a woman goes through in giving birth. My wife swears that if man felt this at every birth, mankind would have died out at the beginning of time.

might 'dip toes' into toyota's water.....
There is a lot of pros and cons, but I had a '92 Toy Tacoma for 14 years and over 400k without any issues. We liked it so much and maintenance was so cheap, when the wife needed a new vehicle for retirement, we got the '03 4 door Tacoma and we still have great performance with it. She still say when this one needs to go, it will be replaced with the same.If Toyota had the Cummins in their 3/4 ton, I'd have bought that instead of my Dodge.

Windsheild Wipers
Every once in a while my wipers on intermediate will swipe once, stop then start again. Doesn't happen often, but been happening once in a while the last two years. Went as far as taking it to the dealers and they checked everything, but all checked fine. Confusing !

Anyone ever have a Frantz filter leak?
Isn't it just paper ? Like a toilette roll ? If you put liquid in it, it should expand naturally once it's not contained by the container. So I would think that the canister loosen and the paper did what it normally does. If it's installed correctly, you should have no issues.

Anyone ever have a Frantz filter leak?
Sorry, don't own a Frantz filter unit, but when you did the last change, did you secure it properly ? Heck, I was shooting the bull with a friend once and didn't tighten a filter on my wife truck properly and when I started it up, it squirt oil everywhere.

Bushwaker fender flares
I was going to mention this, but thanks to diesel4life, it's done. Either living in the rust belt or not, it is highly recommended to strip, clean, wax and re-install twice per year. There is usually a very small build up of debris and such at minimum that will hold moisture and can rust the edge of the fender or discolor the paint.

Battery cable gauge
In past years, when I made my cables, I found welders that has bad leads and used welding wire for the cables. They work better and more limp to easier handling. They also flow electricity better with less resistance. Just an FYI to look into. When I have to change out any of my vehicle cables, that's the direction I'm going.

Too good!
I believe they just said the price has just jumped to and estimated 2.4 trillion over the next 10 years to support this bill. And the national debt will exceed 20 trillion by the time obama leaves office. What will the liberals say when the taxes finally increase enough when we HAVE to start paying back the money on our debt ? Have you seen this yet: http://www.usdebtclock.org I have yet to see it slow down, let alone stop.
