  1. I'm waiting for the day when the government finally spends us into poverty and I want to see what will happen:1st, how they will explain it to the nation (and how they will weasel their way out that it wasn't their fault)2nd: what the people with there hands out for so many years will say when they don't get their checks and benefits. (I can feel for the ones that lost their jobs and needed help. But not for the ones that made a retirement out of it because they didn't want to find a job, and they are many.)I worked until I finally could retire, not like a king, but with dignity. I never thought a person could earn more per hour with fed aid then working. No wonder we're in the situation we're in now.And they say us old coots that receive SSAN are getting government aid like the other group does. But they never mention us old coots have paid dearly with our paychecks going to SSAN for 40+ years because of the LAW passed before we were born and had no choice.
  2. JAG1, I feel for you. This bama'care sucks. I have a kid that lost his main job and the part time job because the owners closed the doors and left. My kid has no income and is now living with me while he tried to find the impossible, a new job. They say the doors are opening Oct 1st to get answers and such for Bama'care, and Jan 1st you have to be in it. But how the hell is the kid to pay for something when they shoved this up our a$$e$$ and no jobs to be had ? You think these 'HIGHLY EDUCATED' A$$e$$ would get the economy going BEFORE shoving this up our ........ (but why should they concern themselves with this trivial stuff, they're covered with our tax money.)
  3. I believe he was a government employee, due to the lack of proper judgement, so: When working for the government, you learn about properly wordage. There is a federally approved and acceptable explanation for accountability (F.A.& A.E.A.),,,,, for everything. The driver has to follow Federally Regulated & Approved Protocol Procedures, or what is know in DC as (F.R.A.P.P.). Then you are allowed to: forget, improperly state, improperly quote and so on.
  4. When I bought my '06 new, I didn't have the time to shop since I was moving out of state within 3 weeks. My wife has bad knees from an auto accident she was in as a child and I wanted something helping us in and out and to stop killing any possibility of screwing up the seats edge with tears. And causing a purchase of new lower seats in the future.I spent the money and bought the Dodge chrome step tubes from the Dodge dealer parts department. When I installed them, they went on quick and have been solid from day one. The chrome has stayed good with minimum / standard efforts in cleaning them. They are spaced enough from the truck body that allows them to throw mud and snow when it accumulates while traveling. They have held up with my weight, and I'm no light weight. The two things that are against them are: 1. they came from the dealer parts department. (I know many don't like this comment)2. They are not cheap. (They were about 400 then.) But I feel they will be with the vehicle until I sell her or if I die first. And expensive investment, but well worth it.
  5. I'd like to know the dollar amount to fix it the damage. Guess this route is off his future trips plans.
  6. Been years since I did this, but I put on a marine terminal that you can bolt a cable end connector into it. At the same time I searched around for a welding shop and bought some of their old, used welding leads they were getting rid of.In the long haul, if the terminals screw up, it's only them I replace and about $5 or less. The cables will last a lifetime and preform way better that stock. The marine terminal lays across the top of the battery, and under the end next to the battery edge, I put a piece of rubber to rest the connection on and it has less stress on the battery post.So when you connect the cable, it pulls straight down and not like a stock cable. The couple of times I had to do this, it don't cost much and lasted until I got rid of the vehicle. When this truck I own needs this, it will happen ASAP.
  7. I'm an old coot and have the belief of never messing with the frame in anyway unless there is no other way, so when I installed a fuel water / fuel filter set up, but could not come to the idea of drilling my frame, I bought a setup by XX Fuel, ( it appears their out of business now ). But the idea was great and maybe something for you. What I like is it's tucked away with plenty of room, easy to change when needed. Only changes were changing the back 2 bolts of the driver seat to longer ones, and cutting into the fuel hoses to connect the filters. Their filters bases were Baldwin and easy to buy, plus their filters were Donaldson and is a common thread. The metal thickness is 1/4" so it's a strong base.If you can fabricate it, it might be an idea to consider. This picture is from their advertisement I got from them at the time.
  8. I agree with the comment that it's close to the exhaust. I through it on my 06 on the other side, and there is way enough room to put on a Amsol 2m filter which seems way bigger than the franz you have. And there is plenty of room to change out without a mess.
  9. I have tried to find in my owners manual and service manual and haven't found it yet. Does anyone know if and when it was placed into the Dodge Rams ?Also, I knew they have this in some aftermarket alarm systems, (I believe Lo-Jack but not positive) and I understand that the cops can call the company and have them shut down a vehicle as it's going down the road. I fell this is something the cops would like in all these black boxes. But what if there is a glitch in the systems and it does this to thousands nationwide ... by mistake.
  10. They did mention on the news that Toyota use the information on their vehicles black boxes when the speeding issues arose a year or so ago, and found out the people had their pedal to the metal except for one. That helped them with their legal issues. But with this device installed, it was mentioned that law enforcement can determine if the person was speeding, no seat belts, drunk driving ?, your present position, where you have been, and such has occurred ... and charge the driver. If the laws change, they can access this via satellite and just issue you a ticket and you never know it until the mail arrives. There is to much that is possible if they want, that is can deprive you of your 4th amendment rights and you never seen it coming. I like technology and the advancements it has brought, (it has save many lives) but I this is getting way out of hand. And the government (fed & local) seems to be dead center.
  11. Seen on TV where the Feds are making it mandatory for the auto industry to have a black box (EDR) installed in EVERY vehicle sold starting 9 / 1. I heard this was coming, but didn't hear of the exact date intended until now. They did mentioned that some vehicle on the road does have this device already installed, but didn't state the companies or models. This can and will be used by law enforcement and insurance companies, and can be used against you.Does anyone know of this device and exactly which vehicles they have shoved it into so far ?How about the parts name or location ?I'm wondering how much trouble one can get into if the device was disarmed ?It was stated that in new vehicles, it states it's there in the owners manual, but did not state if it's a must to be there, or you have to maintain it there, or keep it functioning properly. Want to see how this rolls.Anyone have knowledge or info on this ?(I'm so tired of this constant Big Brother or the book 1984 approach to our freedom)
  12. Just been going through some of these threads, and would like to mention that I just downloaded the sales book from Geno'e Garage and on page (I believe 45) they sell factory service manuals in paper or CD's for 1989 to 1999. The paper is costly, but the CD's are $35 each. Thought I'd mention this if it might help someone.
  13. Might I mention something if you don't mind.Memorial day is the day we honor the men and women that gave their all, they gave their lives for their country.Veterans day is to honor the men and women that have and is serving their country. As to what would happen or said if you walk up to a Nam Vet and thank them for their service?More than likely a thank you and possibly a tear in that persons eye.20+ years after I returned from Nam, the people I served with started finding each other and meet once a year. Nothing more than to see people that were a part of our life that we want to remember, yet forget at time.We had our get together three years ago at Fort Benning. For the heck of it we went to the camp to see the new graduating class of grunts. Somehow, someone found out we were there and during the ceremony, the class stopped, saluted us and thanked us for our services. All our eyes had a tear since this was the first time we were 'actually acknowledged for our service' and thanked for our service. Up until then, we were known as, well if you lived during that time, you's know. Although we weren't that. So in this house, on Memorial Day we say a prayer for the fallen, and Veterans day we say a prayer for those that didn't, yet served and is serving.Sorry for carrying on.
  14. This is another thing I seen, but can't afford the printer; http-~~-//www.youtube.com/watch?v=xuSD9UWcu0g The world's first gun made almost entirely with a 3D printer has been successfully fired in the US. But it's not going to herald an age of widespread weapon ownership, and it's certainly not proof that 3D printing technology needs to be controlled for our safety. The gun – called the "Liberator" and produced by Defense Distributed, a group that describes itself as aiming to "defend the civil liberty of popular access to arms" through "information and knowledge related to the 3D printing of arms" – is the second to have made the headlines in the past year. In July, an American gunsmith printed the lower receiver for an AR-15, a type of modular assault rifle popular among enthusiast. Although not capable of firing on its own, the part is the only component legally considered a firearm in the US, so the rest of the gun – the barrel, trigger, cartridge and so on – could be bought without a license.
  15. What I was running through the forum New Post, I didn't notice this, guess I didn't go back far enough.Sorry.
  16. Has any see this ? Thought it was interesting and a bit historic.
  17. Suggestion:I visually look at the thickness of the pad and the condition of the rotor or drum if applicable, when rotating tires. (It's a pain, but the extra time to pull the drum is worth it at that time.)And when the tire is off, I use silicon to clean and protect the rubber hoses at each tire rotation or every other time. This prevents cracks in them.
  18. I understand by Outerwear it's to keep material of 5 micron and larger off the filter. I've heard of people using pantyhose, nylon sheet material and such. But I finally checked the material out and the material seems different, and then there's the water resistance.I was looking into finding the material, scotch guarding it and the wife says she can make it fit like a glove.Just having one hard time finding it.Putting a water proofing treatment aside, the people in a fabric shop said they haven't had material like it before.Thought I could get several made for the $40+ and shipping Outerwear wants.
  19. Just a simple question about an air cleaner pre filter.Does anyone know what material the pre filter cover is made of ?Like the ones made by Outerwear and such ?I have tried looking, and nothing yet.
  20. Last sentence hit the target dead center !
  21. Using other instruments on my truck, it seems the trucks readings are approx. and the external instruments are more accurate. I question this before and double checked using my friends instruments, my instruments and compared to the truck. Externals were the same with the truck slightly off. I wouldn't worry about it, but if it's accuracy I'd go with the scan gauge.
  22. My 06 responds with slight pressure on the brake pedal. Lowest temp I've had it in was zero degrees. So i'm not exactly sure if there is a pressure switch or what, but recommend going to the download page and if you can, download the 2004 shop manual there for a starter. Hopefully some one else will chime in soon. Good luck.
  23. Most people have their own experiences and beliefs. I run the 5w-50 year round without any issues. And as for here, the prices are the same as 15w-40Here's the manufactures recommendations for the 06. dodge manual oil recommendations.pdf
  24. From what I read so far on the net was you can obtain full gel point @ -17.5*F. And they said it was normally 9.5*F below cloud point for #2. They ddn't say if #1 was the same or not.Outside of testing for lubcity, it appears no other testing has been done. Would be nice if 2 stroke removed the need for gel additive in extremely cold weather and was documented.Maybe some lab will one day.
