  1. I'm not an expert on this, and have decided to install the Fass lift pump on mine at a later date. In checking into this and wanting to do it all at once, I found out this little info when calling Fass. You can install a larger high quality filter before the pump and this will protect it. But it will also make the pump work harder pulling from the tank. They come with a pre-filter that stops debris from the suction inlet, (but not at a very very small micron), thus protecting the gears. Why make it work harder and possibly wear early ?
  2. Make that X2.
  3. I agree, I think you mean log in. I use Safari and set it to the 'Private" setting. My wife's computer, using IE, we use 'In Private Browsing'Using these settings, when sites try to view your browsing history, or when you leave a website or shut the computer down, there is no history for your browser and less saved on your drive. If you are using these settings and don't want to re-login every time you go to a site, then leave this setting off.
  4. only had 1 roof rack in my life and that was on a vehicle my wife had when we married. It was a dealer install when brand new and leaked and loose. After a few years of trying all kind of sealants and lock-tite and such, we sold it and never had one since. my recommendation is figure a way to do without. that's why i have a trailer for each truck here.
  5. I'm not sure, but I do believe it isn't the same thing. He said it varies when working the truck verses just driving it. It has told him his oil had almost no life left and that's when he changes it. It indicates it by telling him % of life left. He has gone from 7k to 12k for each oil change. Don't ow much about it, I haven't own a GM product for a couple of decades and never kept up with them.I don't know the technical workings of this product, but from what I read, it seems to work the same way.
  6. I've heard nothing but very positive reviews on this movie. I have been waiting to see it make its way here so I can see it. My wife said it must be something special since I'd rather see it on satellite tv, buy the movie or rent it. So she's waiting to see it.
  7. My younger brothers pickup has the indicator telling him it's time to change oil. From what I read, this does about the same thing my brothers chevy truck does. This idea has been around a while, it seems right some after market company would come out with this for a few bucks of profit. Still, I'd send in a sample to a place line Blackstone to verify results. But the $25 per sample at Blackstone get you more specific results instead of a 'time to change oil' this gives. If ya send in samples to verify anyway, why have this ?
  8. I very much agree with this. The first time I tried a companies oil, ARCO Graphite on an older engine with many many miles on her, by the time it was due for another oil change, she had more leaks than the Titanic port side after meeting the iceberg. I did read where many companies recommend or demand All Syn oils from the factory on. Mercedes, Dodge Cummins engines and such. I just haven't decided it's because they are designed for it ? The manufactures believe in it ? Or they get one heck of a deal using it and promoting it for the oil manufactures. And, if you went from Syn to Dino, is the warrantee shot ?
  9. Just do a change and a fresh quality filter and that's it. Leave the plug out a while longer to let it drip clean.I seen reports when I was working that showed a full syn had less wear on parts in the long run. But this can very from vehicle to vehicle, owner to owner. It's your preference AND wallet that counts. My Blackstone reports improved, and help me decide to stay full syn after the third test. I have a friend that owns a Volvo and had 1.5 million on his rig and is full syn. He will run nothing but.But with every selection a person can make ... he also believes in running only Shell Rotello in Chevy pickup. His results from testing made his choice. If you want to try it, go ahead and may I suggest three oil changes with results each and then select. My prior truck was a Ford diesel (glad it's gone) and the test helped me stay with dino only. The full syn did very little improvement and not justifiable for the cost.
  10. I did on my last trip and they were good, the prices were ok and no one was rude. AND no one pushed religion, sexual preferences, not even political beliefs.Just good food and good service with polite employees.
  11. I did, and it was a good one.
  12. That is a factual saying. Also, I found out the old saying of: 'Hole In Water - Through Money' is right. Been almost 30 years since I had one. Just signing on to see where this goes.
  13. Yep, seen it before, but copied and mail to many I know as food for thought before they vote this year. Thanks.
  14. I have never used anything else but Gates and plan on never changing any belt without gates replacements.
  15. That's about $26 per gallon. Slightly high. But have you considered running it your normal time and sending in a sample to see the results ? That's what I would do.
  16. Never knew it was on the market. Do you know the cost per gallon and 5 gallon pail ?
  17. That's why I was surprised when I received the notice. I never had issues with them and it never crossed my mine that there was problems for some owners. Actually, I can't remember any issue of that kind with any vehicle I owned.
  18. I didn't hear of the 7%, I read somewhere it's 3%. But it's a tax / fine / penalty from BO when you sell your home to pay for his healthcare bill. Someone has to pay for it, he won't, he and Congress is exempt from it, remember ? A gift from those who ruled the first two years of BO term. But hang on ... there is more coming. Somewhere I read there was 24 tax / fine / penalties total given to us in that wonderful bill. Remember Aunt Nancy said we need to pass the bill to find out what's in the bill. I can't wait for next November.
  19. Welcome to the group.
  20. History has proven, it ya want it broken, give it to an engineer. If you want it totally screwed up ... give it to your elected officials ... they have a constant track record ! Also, our friends lives in Arizona and we worry about them. He was shot at on 'his' land early this year and now carries a rifle with him to check on the animals and the land. Hell of a way to live. A great bit of info: http://www.wimp.com/thegovernment/
  21. I wonder about this:... internet cash price only ?
  22. Amen to that. The wife is about to call it, with our garden. And getting out in the middle of the day to do anything is like walking into the gates of hell.
  23. Yes, please let us know the results. I wanted to tag this so I can hear the results. VERY interesting.
  24. I would also check with your states laws. Some states make it mandatory for minimum standards. Privately owned or not, liability can be an issue if damage / injuries occur. The design specs can be an issue also. Your not talking about something like an engine lift, it WAY bigger. As for designing one, nothing by a web search ?
