  1. Well mike, since you don't want to shoot him, just chase him off with your buffalo. http-~~-//youtu.be/iJ4T9CQA0UM
  2. Those were some nice trees, Mike. We never were able to get them to grow down in Colorado. Sorry to see the bear tore them up. I don't know your feelings on hunting but I have an idea. I've never hunted bear, but do you know if Idaho has over the counter bear tags? Looks like the season is close and if the bear returned you might do well. http://fishandgame.idaho.gov/public/docs/rules/bgBear.pdf From a cursory look at the fees they don't look nearly as expensive as the ones down here in Colorado. When I was in Alaska on a hunt, the Yupik tribe had some very beautiful and very warm rugs on their beds. They also prized the meat and tallow for their various high calorie high fat foods.
  3. ISX has a guide for the 12Vs around somewhere... you might look through the articles or PM him for it. I think he goes over some of the basics of the trucks and pump. I also say it likely needs more than an alignment if it "wanders." That isn't necessarily a deal breaker, but I would expect to spend some time and money fixing some worn out parts. 5th gear... There are several ways to fix it. Hopefully nobody welded the nut in place. Given that its a 12V you also have to worry about the killer dowel pin. Basically a little pin that can fall out and it may fall safe to the pan... or it may not.
  4. They don't make the model I have any longer. It is one of their older ones. I would shop around, JKidd here (dieselautopower), Vulcan, etc.... Perhaps one of them would work a deal with you.
  5. I've had good luck with FASS. I haven't been overly impressed with Air Dog or Raptor. If I had it to do again, I would do a fuel boss, and likely will if my FASS pump expires. Mopar Man has had zero issues with his AD, although his is a bit older. Honestly, I think that it depends on what is on sale and what your price point is.
  6. Doesn't seem to work. I'VE TRIED! :D I've stopped worrying about them and just let them go. I don't think I've been tailgated by the same jackass twice either... Besides, I am almost always in uniform, driving a non personal vehicle, or packing and really don't need the attention.
  7. All the trucks should get their speed sensor from the rear differential. There are three speed sensors, one rear diff, and two in the front hubs for ABS. I could be wrong, but I am pretty sure its not an issue.
  8. Seems like similar symptoms to a friend of mine with a 2nd gen with a bad ring... He blew a HY35 turbo and unknowingly ran vane shards through the engine. After another summer he said it started running rough at idle and having bad blowby. After they pulled the head there were broken rings, marks on the pistons and head, but the cylinders and head was fine. So new pistons, new rings, and he was good to go. They didn't even have to bore the cylinders, just hone. What was odd though was how well the truck ran and pulled with broken rings, and also that the engine ate metal and didn't grenade.
  9. I don't know what converter you have, but flashing 2600 RPM off the line on a 47RE isn't normal. I would agree with the rest that it sounds like a trans problem. Either you aren't getting lockup and/or you aren't getting OD either. What RPM is "flat out" at 85 mph?
  10. It's simple, no trailer to connect, and its a fun little P pump. You can buy a lot of licence plate fees and oil changes for the difference between a trailer and the truck... assuming that you have minimal maintenance otherwise.
  11. The big point of land south of New Town bordered by Lake Sackajaweja or however its spelled. I am working nights on this job, and the schedule is "variable.." However, I will be driving back through your neck of the woods after leaving Minot to head back to Denver and would be happy to meet up. Especially since this is likely my last trip to ND for about 3 years.
  12. Ha! I guess. I will be back up on the peninsula late next week. Doing the twice a day drive between the S. tip of the peninsula and the Minot Holiday Inn is great too.
  13. That could make a great scrap / trash truck for the farm. fill the back with scrap, then when its full drive to the dump. My dad has a trailer like that dedicated to scrap at the farm.
  14. Yep. If I have the torque management on my smarty revo as high numerically it will do that. I will then have to lift all the way to idle for a shift. But even if I floor it right after it won't downshift as if the TV cable were too tight.
  15. Go to Chrysler, buy a new one. It costs the same in the end, and it will work. Plus, the Chrysler one has a 2 year unconditional warranty. So, if you have another electrical bug killing ECMs, you have two years.
  16. Cool deal! Thats kinda what I did with my 02, but ended up giving up the search too soon. I am sure you have been doing the searches better than I likely would, but one thought in my mind would be helpful would be to check on the local craigslist listings in the energy basins. Right now, many of the guys with coin to drop on these trucks would likely be in North Dakota (Minot, Williston, Dickinson), Utah (centered on Vernal, UT), S. Tx (Midland), and parts of Colorado and Southern Wyoming. Lots of rig hands abuse the crap out of them, but now and again you find a guy with a "collection" and he thins the herd. Good luck! It should be a fun hunt! PS. I screwed up on the whole "built trans" thing. I supposedly bought a built transmission, but in the end you notice I have an ATS unit in now. If I had it to do again, I would have dropped the pan at minimum. I wish I had. Yeah, I know, stupid. For just about everything, if it isn't documented, then assume its stock and shelled.
  17. Sincere condolences. But then again, is it Toy Truck time then? Neat!
  18. Keeping your 2nd gen?
  19. THAT WOULD BE AWESOME! Seriously, I am a Toyota build quality and design fan. I love my 02 Dodge, but... I've had some great Toys too.
  20. The heater grid isn't essential to starting. With the relay and power to that arcing heater grid circuit removed, your truck should start if nothing else is broken. Your batteries may be toast now, causing the truck to no longer start, or there could be another issue. (at least, in my humble opinion)
  21. It's all in the family, bub. A man has to have fun.
  22. Neat! Plus, if you don't sit on level ground (if the old one was the mercury switch type) you will still maintain equal temperature.
  23. I would agree with this. The alternative is that you have additional stuff burnt out or a failed fuse/bad connection if you are lucky.
  24. If we assume your charging system is good and the batteries are good then temporarily, I would get in the habit of pulling the positives when you leave it.To diagnose, I would get a multimeter and start going over the truck power junction box and looking for leakage when the truck is off. Pretty much everything in the box should be dead. I would suspect that you have a relay staying closed and drawing things down. One of your circuits is staying hot.
