  1. truck died on the way to church. Originally had P0236 p0177 p1693 p0602 p0500. However These are all pretty standard for me with the smarty, no fuel canister, and having just spun the tires with the new turbo. I cleared the codes and no other codes came up after trying to crank again. Kinda odd to get a no code die and no start... but I'm thinking the vp44 randomly decided to die. Any thoughts?
  2. It has had a place of honor on my coffee table (mrs. is quite tolerant) for several weeks. I've been busy.
  3. Weird. Other systems up front look good? Brakes? Ball joints?
  4. I may get the turbo in this weekend, otherwise, it will have to wait a couple of weeks. TFaoro, what tractor?
  5. Got vacuum in the rest of the truck? Ie: do your heat and ac doors move?
  6. You have a CAD? My 02 doesn't have one.
  7. I thought you had a manual?
  8. I bought a set of 7x.095 SACs and a phatahaft 62/12 from DAP as a combo. After looking and asking advice around here I was going to get 150s and a super phatshaft... but decided my power goals should be a bit lower. I know there is some venom out there for DAP but they had the best deal and I have received great customer service thus far.
  9. I bought my truck with some unknown "140 hp" injectors. I've always run hot (400f idle) and attributed it to cheap 5 hole tips. As it turns out, the truck ran amazingly well for not having a crush washer under the no. 4 jnjector! I bought a turbo and injector set and these new injectors mademail a new truck out of it. Turbo should go in this next weekend. Moral of the story? Injectors are still easy to install, and still make a world of difference. If I ever pick up another truck I am changing the injectors or having themy pop tested immediately.
  10. I'm going to send them in for the core. I can't think of a reason to keep them othere than something funew to take apart.
  11. I don't know their history... I don't know with ant certainty what they are other than Bosch bodies and 7 hole non sac style nozzles. They probably need pop tested and tuned. Are they worth selling or should I just send them in for a core charge?
  12. Factory sport headlights came on the 2000-02 Sport models. They were an OEM dual beam light. There are original models out there and then there are some chiniese copies. The OEM ones are pretty nice. They look like this. They have different light bulb plugs and require some modification to the headlight harness. The wiring diagram is on here if you search a bit.
  13. The other option is to get 2d gen sport headlights, plugs, and build a harness for them. I have the parts and harness but haven't installed them yet.
  14. If you really want a pump, find a used core on Craigslist or at a yard. Then order a pump to put on your desk... that should ensure your oem pump never fails. Weird multi post thing just happened.
  15. Ultimate fix, is to lock the CAD and install free spin hubs. The 2002 trucks don't have a CAD, to no detriment to its drivability.

I sound like a scratched record here, but my first go to with weird automatic behavior is to check the alternator for noise. I am not an automatic expect here though.
  17. Those 318 Poly (wide block) motors were good motors. Polyspherical heads and kinda cool. I want one.

Fill out your signature with the mods and details. It will help us out. IIRC. It is common to have the overboost code with a boost elbow on the turbo also and no boost fooler or programmer on the truck.
  19. All, I am in the market for a new enclosed car / cargo hauler trailer. I need to buy one before my next move in the spring. I will start by saying that I tow very slow and gentle. I am not one of those 80mph guys with a trailer. I am looking for something fairly large >24ft body but not unmanageable. I am limiting myself to bumper pull for this trailer. The trailer will stay on roads, but will see some dirt roads. I want something stout, ramp gate, able to fill with crap or a heavy old Chrysler and a bunch of tools and parts without worrying about the frame, axles, or whatever. 8 lug axles would be nice, and the wheels would interchange with most of the spares that I have on the farm at home. Sofar, Wells Cargo has been recommended, but I can't really find any available at the moment. Any suggestions? Thanks!
  20. True. But I'd rather have an Idaho built one. It does say Mopar man on it though.
  21. Bummer. I just bought one. Works good though.

The snowmobile and dirt bike vs Cummins is not a valid comparison. I'm sure oiled filters can be made and maintained to an adequate level of filtration for diesels, but it is not the best tool for the job. The best filtration systems are a dry element with cyclonic system. It uses the air to flow around the filter to put the majority of solids on the outside where they fall to the bottom of the filter tube. There are rubber "drains" that the operator pops once in a while to empty them.
  23. Temp shouldn't matter. I would be concerned of the alternator. You can get the alternator bench tested and connect a voltmeter up to the battery when running and look for any AC power. You could also disconnect the alternator... Can't recall if it is a fuse pull or not... I pulled the field wire last time I tested it, and run it on battery power for a quick hop around the block.
  24. The 12v style valve covers and mounting stuff is valuable too.
  25. I like fargos. I'd drive one.
