  1. What does the tune look like now? Depending on where you have it now. You could raise your light load timing advance. It will only add it under your light load %. Mine does pretty good around 21 degrees total.
  2. Welcome aboard! Now that’s a BHAF!
  3. Yup life is to short! All work and no play is no way to live life. Enjoy it while you can.
  4. Ya we had a blast! Wish we could have stayed longer but that’s always the case. We’re going to Oceano state park at the end of August. These high fuel prices must be making people cancel trips. We’ve actually been able to find openings at our favorite spots.
  5. I was planning on going but a camping/ fishing trip in San Simeon became available. My brother in law and buddy caught the biggest of the day. We all caught our limit. Good times!
  6. That’s definitely an oh CRAP moment! Glad no one got hurt. And the truck too.
  7. I definitely appreciate this site and everything @Mopar1973Man has done to make it user friendly. The tech articles alone have saved me lots of $ not having to take it to a diesel mechanic. Heck even my brother in law trusts me enough to work on his ‘02. Definitely the best Cummins site out there!
  8. I know it adds timing when cold.I’d have to double check the cold idle timing. Let me rephrase that. Fully warmed it idles at 13.73 degrees of timing.
  9. Pretty amazing what you’re doing here. Way over my head! My warm idle timing is 13.73.
  10. Beautiful country!
  11. We’re still planning on going to the coast next month to do some camping and deep sea fishing. The captain did call my brother in law the other day. To tell us do to the increase in fuel our price had to go up. Still looking forward to it though.
  12. I just came back from Roseville pulling my travel trailer. Mostly flat ground. Took 1/2 a tank. I believe about 230 miles to my sisters house. Checked my mpg once I topped off there. I got 12.66 mpg. My average speed was 57 mph. Just recently dropped back down to factory tire size. Between traffic and road construction there was several stop and speed back up moments. Regardless pretty happy with my mpg.
  13. I have only ran DAP injectors. I have no complaints.
  14. @Dieselfuture has posted before who built his I can’t remember off the top of my head. I pieced mine together with turbo lab parts. I believe I have a thread on hear as well on it. I’ll look. Wanna say I have about $800 into it.
  15. Put together a turbo like @Dieselfuture and mine. Keep your existing EB.
  16. Such a beautiful sight to wake up to though. From indoors!
  17. Good to know. Coldest temp I’ve been in is probably mid 20’s.
  18. Dayum! Can you actually feel the difference between-30 and -10?

Hello! Welcome to the site! Nice looking truck!
  20. If you’re doing springs I’d add push rods to the list.
  21. Repeating what Tractorman said. You’re leaving a lot of Hp and even more torque on the table with only 20psi of boost. You’re HX35 should map out at about 32 lbs of boost. If you don’t have one yet you need a boost elbow or a spring and turn buckle to hold the wastegate closed till 30-32 lbs. once you get the injectors and Quad along with it your truck will tow much better. With a good tune of course. Also at 9k I’d be towing in drive as well. Lower rpm’s doesn’t equate to better efficiency with the Cummins. I just switched back from 285’s back down to 265’s. Haven’t towed with them yet but I will this Friday. Looking forward to seeing the difference.
  22. I think the flapper inside the exhaust housing on mine was seized up. Try moving the diaphragm arm back-and-forth with some pliers and see if you get movement.
  23. Took it apart and rebuilt it. That’s when I saw it wasn’t closed all the way. I cleaned everything up real good. Ran it for a bit longer till I put together the hybrid I have now. It’s on my brother in laws truck now. He hasn’t had any issues. What I also did to both turbos was drilled the waste gate port to 7/8” I believe. I’d have to look at the drill bit. And drilled through to the other port for better flow at higher boost levels.
  24. Ya these trucks aren’t getting any younger but who is? 😂 I just had to replace my water pump again. Maybe had 20k on it. Parked it at my dads turned around and coolant started pouring out of the back of the pump. Things that you are doing are expected. Normal wear and tear. Cheaper than a new truck. Most of the issues and bad reps these trucks get are from previous owners “repairs” or fixes. Like the noise isolation filter for the autos when jumping in and out of lockup. It’s a bandaid fix and the high AC noise is still frying the PCM and ECM’s.
  25. While you have the pump out I would put a new vacuum pump seal kit in.
