  1. When ever you meet someone who likes to stir it up and is lacking in knowledge about which he pontificates, it is better to turn your back on that person and walk away because you just can't fix stupid.
  2. I fined that when faced with the dilemma of multiple part options from one vender it is best to contact the dealer and get the OME part number, have the vehicle identification number readily available. With the OME part number you may be able to cross reference to the aftermarket vender's parts list. Sometimes I have to go to more than one vender to get the part number I need.

All most snowed at my house last night in San Marcos, CA. Snow level was down to 1500'. My house is at 760' and the temp was 36°.
  4. We won't see low price for long. The price will go up the first of the year due to a 'carbon off set tax'. It's to stop global warming here in CA but the rest of the world will get over heated.
  5. Volvo diesels would Would lose their prime due to air leak in the copper o-rings sealing the banjo fitting for the fuel line at the fuel filter housing. With a clear plastic line you could see the fuel draining back to the tank but you would never see any fuel leak from the fitting. Air molecules are smaller than diesel fuel molecules.
  6. Try this; get a 12v deep cycle battery and run the lift pump off of it. That takes it electrically out of the truck system and you'll see if the pump is the cause of the A/C voltage.
  7. Any fish in that stream?
  8. Filled the work van up today in Escondido, CA. $2.419 for reg. I saw that diesel was $2.749.
  9. His music will live on 'with a little help from his friends'.
  10. It's so nice to see where others' like to go in this great land of ours. Thank you for sharing it with us.
  11. The truck sits for weeks at a time so my son thought it would be nice to dress it up for the holidays.
  12. This morning I go to Hyundia of Escondido. I order a gas tank air filter for a 2009 Azera. 'No problem sir, we have that part in stock. Here you go, that will be $17.81'. An hour later the phone rings. 'Mr Mobile I sold you the wrong part. The part you have is for a 2008 Elantra. You'll have to come back and change it out, with a new price of 58.95'. Well at least they still had my account info with my phone number.
  13. Would you like that oil filter super sized? How about some fries with that crank seal?
  14. My problem is they don't listen to what you say. Last week I ordered a left rear door latch/lock assembly for a 2000 Volvo v70 and a power steering pump for a 1998 Volvo XC70. Next day in comes a door latch for a 1998 Volvo and a power steering pump for a 2000 Volvo. I call him up and he says he'll send the right things out first thing. Three days later I call " where's my parts" and he tells me he forgot what I ordered and couldn't call back because he lost my phone number. Now my customer is calling me when is his his car go to be fixed. It's hard dealing with stupid. From another supplier I ordered front brake pads, front rotors and rear brake pads. 2 hours later they deliver front brake pads, rear brake pads and rear rotors. This goes on all the time. It's rely hard to deal with stupid. I go into a parts house and wait my turn. In walks a nice looking young lady. Counter guy gets off the phone and asks the gal if she needs help. With that I ask him "if I wore a skirt would I get faster service"? Probably not. I'm tired of dealing with stupid!
  15. Wild and Free, I've been running an AME filter since May of 08 and have put 25k miles on it. What makes them "junk" and how did your buddy dust an engine with one?
  16. Here's my take on why fuel prices have been going down. Since 2006 punitive UN, US, and EU sanctions have been imposed over Iran's nuclear program. By the beginning of 2014 the Iranian government was on the verge of economic collapse and civil unrest. Inflation was at 20%, unemployment 30%, and interest rates at a high of 25%. Those sanctions were lifted in Jan. 2014, 6 mo. before Iran's hard currency reserves were thought to run out. The state religion is Shi'i branch of Islam. Saudi Arabia, which is a Sunni country, does not trust Iran's nuclear program and wants it stopped. With a glut of oil on the world market the price is going down but Saudi Arabia is not cutting production to increase the price per barrel as they have in the past. 72% of Iran's exports is petroleum, a low oil price is a big hit to that country's income. If this can be sustained until sanctions are reimposed Iran will fold. The moratorium on sanctions has been extended from 7/2014 to 11/2014 and now to some time in the spring. Thank you John Kerry. Russia's take over of the Crimea and it's incursion into eastern Ukraine has the EU nerves about any future movements made by Putin. This has frozen the EU as what to do by the fact that it's major oil and gas supplier is Russia. Russia's major export is petroleum products at 63%. The reduction in oil prices is costing them billions of rubles and the ruble is down more than 40% to the dollar and was down another 5% today. If the price of oil goes below $60/ barrel Russia will be in big economic trouble. "The Russia market is a victim of OPEC's apparent decision to reduce the volume of high cost production through lower prices". So the country to watch this winter is Mother Russia and see what Putin does. http://news.yahoo.com/asian-shares-meander-china-data-disappoints-053600507--finance. http://news.yahoo.com/russian-ruble-takes-nosedive-low-oil-prices-080027202--finance.html
  17. Here in Escondido, CA gas is $2.819/gal of gas and $3.459/gal for diesel. The price of all fuels are going to go up this Jan.1st because of a new "carbon off set tax" that's going to start. This tax is to help reduce global warming at the rate of 10¢ to $1 / gal. of any fuel. We're trying to stop the implementation of the tax but in this left coast state you might as well spit in the wind.
  18. The beginning of this month the Battery on my work van went dead over night. Recharged battery and load tested o'k. draw test was 9 amps. AC voltage varied between .7 and 3+ volts. Disconnected red wire at B+ terminal on alternator and no more draw. Replace alternator and no more draw, no more dead battery.
  19. I have the magnaflow 4" and the muffler is just a big long straight through resonator. It drones pretty good at freeway speed but I think that's a characteristic of this truck/engine combo.
  20. I can't think of any thing, make sure you get the boost elbow with it. If you don't get a boost elbow you can make one.
  21. I tried to PM you but it wouldn't go through.
  22. I know the bristlecone pine forest is in the White Mountains east of Big Pine, CA. You have a picture of kokanee salmon after they spawn in the fall when they move out of the Upper Twin lake and into Robinson Creek which is east of Bridgeport, CA. So, where in the Sierra is this?
  23. My neighbor works for a fence company and gets me used 1x6x6 or 1x8x6 ceder fence boards that I use to make compost bins. Try to find used material to cut cost.
  24. When I first installed the pump fuel pressure was 17-18 @ idle and 20-21 1500 rpm and up measured at the VP. I moved the fuel pressure pick up to before the stock fuel filter due to to much hammering from the VP even with a snubber . Now the pressure is 15 psi when I first start it and goes to 20 psi when I push the fuel peddle, after a few miles 18 psi @ idle.
  25. Sorry for the delay in answering, I've been camping and fishing in the Sierra Nevada for 11days. I've had my trans rebuilt back to stock at around 65k mi because the front band went bad and all the junk took out the torque converter. The truck just turned 80k on this trip.
