Another one in California
Welcome to the neighborhood. I've lived and worked in El Cajon and even got my pilots license at Gillespie Field. I moved to north San Diego county in 78 and get down to the Fletcher Hills area now and then.

New arrival to the collection!
I think you and your wife got a good deal. The damage wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Not major damage, just costly. Those 2 aluminum A/C pipes are about $300 each.

An eye candy project.
That's a lot of work but be proud of the finished product because it looks great. A job like that is why you keep children and grand-children around. I'd do it to my boat but the prevues own scratched and gouged the sides taking it on and off the trailer. I'd have to sand the hull so much that it would probably lose its integrity.

Friday Funny.
That's my brother-in-law on a good day.

My expensive day

New starter Motor made in china
In 08 @55,000 mi the starter went out and I replaced it with a Napa rebuilt, life time warranty $189. Fast forward 2014 @ 81,000 mi starter goes out and Nappa gives me another one. My local alternator/starter rebuilder was driven out of business in the late 90s by the cheap Chines parts. All the cores get sent to China and rebuilt to some company's specification, Nappa, O'reilly's, ect. The Chines rebuilder may or may not meet those specifications. The only way to know short of doing your own quality control is to put it on and see how it goes. Today I replaced a cam belt on a Toyota Highlander. When I went to make the final drive belt adjustments after running the engine for less than 5 min. I touched the alternator and all most burned myself. The alternator has been replaced in the last month but was overheating. The out side temp of the alternator went up to 255°. The Chines junk will get replaced tomorrow by probably more Chines junk.

Anyone upgrade their headlights in the 2nd Gen trucks?
I haven't used them but that's a chunk of change for the base light housing. If you add in all the options it's another $705. Are the lenses glass or plastic and if plastic how well do they hold up to hazing by the sun.

Warranty options for salvage title vehicle?
So at 75% of $23,000 there was $17,250 or more worth of damage? Most non factory warranties only will cover hard parts such as pistons, rods, valves, transmission gears, and shafts. They will not cover gaskets and seals. If you get an engine rear seal leak it wouldn't be covered. All so check the coverage for the control units.

Trouble Codes- Did my mod cause this?
"Could it be my 3 day old EZ causing this? I don't know how long these codes were present." I've been running my EZ for 10years now with now problems.

Warranty options for salvage title vehicle?
That car is booking for about $23,000 so the damage had to be about that much or some type of damage that can not be repaired to industry standers IE: frame bent. Most after market or non factory warranties aren't worth the powder to blow them to hell.

P1690 thrown
When I installed my Fuel Boss I didn't have any of those problems except for the hobbs cycling the Airtex lift pump. I too have been running with the Airtex unplugged and a lift pump code with no dash light.

Anyone upgrade their headlights in the 2nd Gen trucks?
Anything you do to a vehicle or trailer, from changing oil to a brake job to an engine overhaul, the responsibility falls on us. Years ago I did a wheel bearing repack. A few weeks later the customer runs the car into the center divider during a rain storm. She said the steering wheel jerked out of her hands and it must have been the wheel bearing were done wrong. A third party inspected the bearings and found nothing wrong but there you go, she was trying to make me responsible for her bad driving. A lot of the things we do to our trucks are upgrades. Are they random? A person sees a situation an says ' I think I can do it better than what I've got here now. He try's out the "upgrade" and it either works better or it's a flop. This is how we learn: IE putting Chevy rear brake wheel cylinders in 2000 Dodge ¾ ton pick-up.

Thoughts on Edge EZ vs Superchips Flashpaq vs Other Econo Tuners
That wouldn't be a bad idea. Cut a hole in the side for the cord to run out and seal it with clear RTV. Use Velcro to hold the EZ in the box and then again to hold the box to the top of the relay box. I have my EZ just velcroed to the top of the relay box. I think I've only driven the truck in the rain 3 or 4 times that I can think of so water getting in it is not a big concern for me.

Anyone upgrade their headlights in the 2nd Gen trucks?
I haven't replaced them yet. They have a slight haze on them now and I'll give them a clean and seal to see how that goes. The truck is a driveway Queen and faces north all the time so the UV damage hasn't been to bad on them.

Dash cam
I bought a dash cam at the Gun Show of the West in Del Mar, CA. It cost $100 cash and came with a 32 Gig memory card. I have it set to turn on when the engine starts and shut down when the key's turned off. It works good and no question of he said she said. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fn34ZcEd418&feature=youtu.be Yes, I did stop and offer assistance.

But which manufacture at Rockauto. I've used Dorman parts before, replaced all the window regulators in a 2002 Chevy Tahoe. They looked nice fit nice and worked right the first time. I don't know about the TYC or Various Mfg brands. http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/x,carcode,1361999,parttype,10762

Thoughts on Edge EZ vs Superchips Flashpaq vs Other Econo Tuners
My Edge® EZ came with a boost elbow and does boost fooling. The boost elbow gives me 26psi of pressure and no check engine light or reduction of fuel.

Dyno!
Those are some great numbers!

Thoughts on Edge EZ vs Superchips Flashpaq vs Other Econo Tuners
That's a very good price. I've a quote for an EZ from Off Road Warehouse dated 4/28/05, $460.99 with a notation of price reduced to $435 if I buy a bunch of other stuff to the tune of $1099.75. In my notes I see an Edge® Comp for $547.

Servicing rear diff fluid, what to use!
Try a good putty knife; flat, wide and 9 times out of 10 won't gouge the case or bend the cover.

Tailgate latches
White lithium will not run into some spots or down cables and in to cracks like oil will.
