  1. This one's for @dripley Rooster Race An old farmer decided it was time to get a new rooster for his hens. The current rooster was still doing an okay job, but he was getting on in years. And the farmer figured getting a new rooster couldn't hurt anything. So he buys a young cock from the local rooster emporium, and turns him loose in the barnyard. Well, the old rooster sees the young one strutting around, and he gets a little worried. So, they're trying to replace me, thinks the old rooster. I've got to do something about this. He walks up to the new bird and says, "So you're the new stud in town? I bet you really think you're hot stuff, don't you? Well I'm not ready for the chopping block yet. I'll bet I'm still the better bird. And to prove it, I challenge you to a race around that hen house over there. We'll run around it ten times and whoever finishes first gets to have all the hens for himself." Well, the young rooster was a proud sort, and he definitely thought he was more than a match for the old guy. "You're on," said the young rooster. "And since I know I'm so great, I'll even give you a head start of half a lap. I'll still win easy," said the young rooster. So the two roosters go over to the hen house to start the race with all the hens gathering around to watch. The race begins and all the hens start cheering the roosters on. After the first lap, the old rooster is still maintaining his lead. After the second lap, the old guy's lead has slipped a little but he's still hanging in there. Unfortunately the old rooster's lead continues to slip each time around, and by the fifth lap he's just barely in front of the young rooster. By now the farmer has heard all the commotion. He runs into the house, gets his shotgun, and runs out to the barnyard figuring a fox or something is after his chickens. When he gets there, he sees the two roosters running around the hen house, with the old rooster still slightly in the lead. He immediately takes his shotgun, aims, fires, and blows the young rooster away. As he walks away slowly, he says to himself..."Damn, that's the third *** rooster I've bought this month."
  2. Ya, but it makes the owner feel good and gives them a sense of entitlement knowing how much they're saving the environment by driving one. They can pay by the mile. I think that's coming to California for every one. The government won't take a pay cut.
  3. These are 9007 blubs so are they being used in sport head lamp housings? I thinking about replacing my none sport headlight lights (9004 blubs)
  4. You.re in Iowa, soo. isn't that where they grow the corn to make Bio fuel? I can't find bio here in So-Cal there for two stroke with every fill up.

  6. Call around, talk to the service department. You'll probably talk to a service writer. Ask how much to do it, what there labor rate is. will they do it for less. A half hour of labor is fair. Thursday and Friday are usually the days with the lest amount of work so they may take you in at a reduced rate so the mechanic has something to do. The week between Christmas and New Years is generally a busy time for them.
  7. Sounds like they want at least 1 hour labor. What part of the country is this in. $160 is what high end luxury dealers charge around here.

  9. You need to compare wire diagrams to see if there is a difference between the two as what was left in the truck and what you replaced. Like @dripleysaid the controls like the brake peddle switch or switches' wiring my be off.
  10. How are the rubber brake hoses, are any of them ballooning under pressure? If not, clamp off the rubber brake lines and see if the peddle still goes to the floor. If it does then a bad master.. If it doesn't then release one side only at a time and repeat to find if it's a bad caliper.
  11. The brake master cylinder may have gone bad, had that happen to me just last week on a customers car. I replaced front brake pads, rear brake pad and rear rotors. I went to pump up the system before road testing and the peddle went to the floor; replaced the master and all was good. Another time a customer said his brake peddle went to the floor. After fooling with this car for a while and talking to the customer he confessed that he took the caliper apart to rebuild to rebuild them. I replaced the front calipers and all was good.
  12. A manual transmission PCM will not work for a auto transmission cruise control that has a vacuum controller.
  13. Most likely one hour labor. Best to call the dealer's service department and ask them.
  14. I've been a mechanic for 50 years and running my mobile repair business since 1994 and learned: Your time is yours to sell. Give the customer the full measure but don't short change yourself. Work on it as if it was your own. If you're unfortunate to have a Keren or Keven as a customer don't be afraid to tell them to pi$$ off. They aren't worth the head ack and there is always someone better to take their place. Do like @JAG1recommends; set time aside for a holiday to decompress and enjoy life. 44

  24. About 20 years ago I was diagnosed (MRI) with a torn meniscus in my right knee. Doc said "I can clean that up by taking the damaged part out." Told him "I'll get back to you." After 6 months to a year, I don't quite remember, no pain and has never come back.. Now, my wife had a torn meniscus 'cleaned out' in one of her knees and later had to have the knee replaced. I had sciatica problems in my left leg along with a degenerating arthritic hip joint and needed a walking cain to get around. I had the hip replaced and no more problems.
