  1. that gives you ample time to visit the forum with a cup of coffee and harass the big chicken if you so desire, sorry Dripley couldn't resist.
  2. If you do the brunt of the work first before making your parts list you will be more accurate about what you need. Just some electrical, tape, ring terminals for # 10 wire and the bolt. Lugs for 4 gauge wire for the charging wire, some corrugated black plastic flex conduit or wire covering. Some shrink tubing, and electrical solder. You should also do the alternator protection with the breaker and the PCM protection with a 5 amp fuse.
  3. What? like the chicken fryer welded to the top your turbo? Sorry there boss, couldn' resist.
  4. Oh! Okay then you need the grids. If you can try getting buy using the block heater instead. Dripley plugs his in 3 hours before he starts his truck and lives close to the same area. Other second gen owners tested and found the alternator to be inadequate during grid heater use and can begin hurting the alternator diodes. (all the more important to keep all electrical in top condition if you have to use them).Drops of oil on the battery posts after cleaning is good.thing
  5. Unreal Summit, I checked your location on our members map. Your down in Mexico where you should almost never need grid heaters. I say this because using them all the time can be damaging to your alternator. Most of us in the northern climates keep them disconnected at the drivers battery to help save burning a diode inside the alternator. You really only need your grids when Temps are down around 25 or 30 degrees.
  6. CODYFARLEY, don't mind us, this is what we do around here.... Hy Jack threads ever so often. Please do hang around though, as these guys have taught me a lot.
  7. I had to quit smokin that oddball tobacco and start a clean cut shaving program since everyone thought I was a hippy that also might smell bad if they got too close........ You need to get out west Bud.... before your too old to enjoy being around our fire with a few
  8. I kinda look at it like something that always has to be done from time to time. There are still a lot of trucks that never had any grounding connections checked/ cleaned since they came off the assembly line. I suspect you might have a good alternator but still have a bad ground somewhere.
  9. I would say you have an bad ground somewhere, but then again I've been more wrong than right about such matters. Still a bad ground creates an unbalanced electrical system to where AC noise cannot be absorbed by the batteries. Most often it originates from an alternator that still shows adequate charging but is beginning to fail and thereby emits excessive AC ripple. Mopar1973Man taught me all this stuff so hang around you will see the beginnings of a good education around here.
  10. I'm thinking I need to do something along those lines too because as I read the news it seems crime is increasing everywhere. Don't blame me for blaming the Dems for this scenario of everything is okay, hand out agenda. They are raising a generation that thinks they don't have to earn it.
  11. Let us know what you find as I'm interested as well. Fuses your looking for are probably in the fuse panel and can be tested with a test light. I think everyone knows that, but It will also hurt an ohm meter if any of the circuits are on while using that setting, so you should have batteries disconnected if you use that setting on the volt meter.
  12. These big changes in life actually is Our Lord calling to wake us up. You guys want to see something really really the coolest thing of all (I promise it's the best) being revealed in these days of our Lord. Revealed now in these times, I know its for a reason, are so absolutely astonishing...... Be patient, listen and go thru all the Ron Wyatt. com u tube videos you can find. You won't believe it, but then its right there in front of you. It will grab you off your seat. I think a Ron Wyatt.com link at the top of the forum would be the greatest thing.
  13. I wonder why the PDC ground location on your 12 valve is different than my 2- 24 valve trucks. It is pretty important with several ground leads coming together on that one bolt and sort of hidden under a small section of wire harness.(You can't see it until you feel your hand down there under the harness and move the harness out of the way) It's an actual bolt not just a sheet metal screw.
  14. Yep those are the real McCoy . They even have a better sounding ring to them than the cast wheels. Them things are still available new and are over 300 bucks each. A forged wheel is amazing. Alcoas website shows their forged wheels side by side with steel wheels in a huge press. They press down on the steel wheel and on the Alcoa wheel with equal pressure. The steel wheel ends up distorted and damaged, but next to it, in the other press, the Alcoa bounces back to its original shape no damage. Get those lead weights off the front though.or you'll get a reaction (different metals) that is hard to remove. It can ruin them.
  15. Its all stock and is a work truck so it doesn't matter about power I want the reliability and seem to be hearing more and more bad on the aftermarket injectors. I could be wrong of course.
  16. I gotcha. Your Ford wheels look just like the older Alcoas. I was told it was only 95-97 Ford wheels that where forged by Alcoa because they were so expensive. If you have time to post up a close up of your wheels I can tell you if they are Alcoas. I have 3 sets of them because craiglist folks didn't know what they are and got them affordable that way.
  17. I could never could get it right..... always had the impulse to get on it right when there was a copper around the corner or hiding.
  18. Interesting about the O rings Dripley.... I thank you for that information. I will be going for the OEM injectors next. New from Bosch they should be pretty reliable with the better O rings. I'm hoping anyway. I like reliability because my middle name used to be 'speed ticket'.
  19. So are you saying the ford center caps go underneath the Dodge second gen caps? I did get a set of Dodge 2nd G center caps to stay on with Ford Alcoas wheels. They don't pop on all the way but with a little trimming of the tips of the clips/ holders you can get them to go on a little further. They have been on there this way for about 65k miles. The Ford Alcoas (Ford 95-97) carry the highest load rated out of all 16 inch wheels ever made. Even a steel wheel doesn't come close because the Alcoas are forged wheels. Very expensive to make over cast wheels.
  20. This project is a lot of work, but it is the coolest truck ever. Look at the 3 windows in the rear and quad cab to boot. Best figure on a good security system for it also.

Mike are you crimping those before you solder?
  22. JAG1 replied to Bacon Creek Metal's topic in Introductions
do you place the wire in the bench vice to help not melt the insulation? That way its held in place anyway. Then just heat the lug while holding it on the wire holding the solder on the wire till it flows, is that right right? T.I.A.
  23. He does that you you turn right around and have to spend more money at his shop.
  24. Be careful though.... if you hear rattles from your intake tube, when you leave, there's probly bolts put in there.
  25. That is the same banner that I saw. Thought it only specific to me and other members of the board. It's confusing that it comes up first hand and each participant would know anyway if they bought a ticket or not. Really doesn't need to be there. IMHO.
