  1. Marcus2000monster ,It seems that if it were an air problem, the symptoms would go away with a full tank. Or at the least be less noticeable. How about checking for the infamous AC ripple levels? Have you completed the W-Ts grounding mods? Both my trucks seemed to run a bit more like a cats purr afterward. Check the condition of the PDC ground, an important one down on the fender in front of the drivers battery. It is often hidden by the wire harness running over that grounding bolt. Condition of the batteries and connection posts. Unhook the VP connector and inspect all the pins for any minute distortion. Just go over things in general on the electrical side is my lean anyway.
  2. And a Quad Cab is the half doors in the rear.
  3. I think one has the extended cab that is solid, without the half doors in the rear, is that right?
  4. I understand. Look for the power distribution center.ground... it's important. looking down in front of the drivers side battery, down on the flat part of the fender (kind of way down in there) there is indeed a visible grnd. On both my trucks I couldn't find it, thought I was getting misinformed until I moved the wire harness out of the way and there it was. If you neglect anything don't let this one get away..... we had a member lose his PDC which burned up a month ago. It was neglect from a previous owner.
  5. Thanks so much for the info John. Mine is a camper package so you would think it is relayed, but read that they are not and a hot switch is common on these trucks. .I should put a relay on the truck used for the camper also.
  6. Thank you for the pic Bullet, you have a nice truck and better get a way to stop someone from stealing it. It looks like it's detailed perfect too . That is correct, a factory Sport model. Does that mean the switch shouldn't be getting hot then? I had the camper and its marker lights on too when I noticed the heat near the switch.
  7. Thats original like driply says, but I don't understand about the plastic washer. It should not be there as if an attempt to isolate the ground from the firewall. Ground should go to ground. Maybe the previous owner thought it would hold tight by putting that on there, I don't know why its there.
  8. Thanks John. Even with my Sport truck I had to place a heat sink attached to the headlight switch because it was getting too hot. Thought it would melt the poor thing.
  9. I was wondering if a board member can buy a raffle ticket? Also my work truck has horrible bad headlights. So bad, I ran over a big chicken in the road Chicken soup. Anyhow is this conversion kit an easy kit or do you have to work at it a bit to make it fit? If I can't do the raffle I will go buy one. Thank you.
  10. This is a good indication that other connections and grounds should be serviced before any additional trouble.
  11. Driply big chicken talking about Airtex........ It's really a POS. when talking about keeping the VP healthy you need fuel pressure to always stay above 14 p.s.i. That is so important because the airtex cannot hold that pressure hauling heavy or even regular acceleration. The only time I experienced excessive battery draw down or excessive load was from a bad starter motor. Put so much load on the batteries it would use everything they had in one try with the starter. BTW. Both my trucks have injection pumps from Industrial injection. I like that company.
  12. I saved some 1 qt..oil bottles that had a large pour spout because hey are easier to refill. I just pour in amount needed, not by measure really because if It took a half tank I pour in a half quart. If its a 3/4 tank I pour in 3/4ths of a quart and so on. If I'm hauling heavy and it is hot weather I usually add more by pouring in the whole qt.ea. fill.
  13. I think IBMobile took a pic of it that ended up in the American wiring digest.
  14. I thought I might have heard it from you Dan. My neighbor is shooting off 25 round Mag. I can still hear and still count at least.
  15. I have not done injectors on a 24 valve yet, but there is a proper sequence to installing them. Something about tightening the high pressure lines in first before you tighten each injector so that they get a chance to properly line up and properly seat with each fuel line. If you did not do it the correct way you need to redo it. We had another member with the same issue a few weeks back. Hopefully someone else will chime in with a little more assurance about this.
  16. Thank you Mike, I always assumed the 265's were stock tires because I never noticed that before
  17. Interesting project. I want to follow this as well .... and thank you for the attention grabbing pictures.
  18. Steering box brace helped both my trucks with 265 75 16's. one brace was put on at 30k miles, everything still tight and It still made a difference.
  19. I believe there are some external voltage regulators that have temperature sensing ability. They range in price, I'm guessing, 300 to 500 hundred bucks, ouch and designed for boats at sea, for the marine environment. mbloom65, take it slow, figure out the charge problem having the alt put on a test stand. I wouldn't test a suspect alt. on another rig for risk of ruining something on the other truck Did you read the article about the bad grounding the alternator has thru its mounting bracket and bolt. I corrodes bad inside the tightened surfaces i.e. bolts, mounting bracket engine block all get rusty in there. It is generally a bad ground by now with so many years on its existence. I ran my own ground from alt casing to passenger battery neg. post for added insurance.
  20. I think IBMobile has it almost finalized and wants opinions/ approval
  21. Dripley, didn't you say for two hours you trying to thread that thing in. All the while asking yourself, ''why can't I get that dang thing lined up''! Maybe one of these days you and me will be awarded our M73M certification.
  22. Let me know when its done I'll hire a covered dump truck to bring enough money. Its going to be really really cool and I hope everything goes well on it. Man!
  23. Funny.... I overheard some guys talking about how they outlawed the size and number of rounds a mag can hold, one fellow had one of the old mags and said he is not supposed to use any longer. Oh well
  24. It is going to be worth a lot when it is completed. I cannot remember.... you extended the cab to make it a quad cab? Is that right?
