  1. I'll have to check that out. I mostly remember mine usually full enough to have to be careful how much I tilt the filter getting it out.
  2. I'm not sure about the whole thought. I know when I pull my filters after sitting all night they are always nearly full or down only an inch or so. It's the turbo bearings I worry about too that need oil soon perhaps.
  3. I think about sudden oil pressure against the filter element with an empty filter. If you pre fill a filter, at least it has some buffer or support not blowing out with oil on both sides of the element. I don't know if this is a valid thought. I did loose about 7 qts of oil in a matter of seconds on the driveway when I unknowingly tightened the oil filter against one extra filter gasket stuck to the filter base.
  4. That what I meant... gettin split and stacked.
  5. I don't know if this will help, both my second gens had bad cruise control vacuum hoses. Particularly the two short pieces (about 1 1/2'' long) nearest the top of the firewall.... they are connected to what looks like a small black/white flapper valve.
  6. Thats because everyone knows they'll get pecked to death around here if they do.
  7. Its sure interesting reading about these different ways. Lots of things I never thought of.
  8. I'm glad for you , but MoparMom's going to blow her gasket if you don't get all the firewood in real soon Boss.
  9. Okay..... I just talked with Eric and got it straightened out. Everything is back to being fine again He is cool for sure.
  10. Thank you for helping me come to some sense about Eric. He did not generate the invoice and got I bent out of shape. My rant is uncalled for being directed at such a long term nice guy. During my request for the test port he said that he was tired of dealing with overly demanding retail clients. That it is compounded by a long term employee quitting that day, leaving him hanging. So it is my bad that I did not mention nor take into account this important fact. Eric deserves my sincere apology for the above post. I understand the gut wrenching moments in running a business...... it can affect your health. Eric, I forgive you and you still the best and hope you get everything back on track.
  11. I would like to see some pics about what you talk about here..... when you have time of course
  12. We don't have coffee we got rocket fuel, your welcome to come over for a cup or 3
  13. Eee Gads thats too low a miles to have problems, Never heard of such a thing. Do any you guys think its because they legislated us out of the good ol'e CI-4oils? I've got 200 k on the 01 and 99k on the 02 and neither smoke it up like out in the parking lot in high school. I'm still using the CI-4 oil which may have something to do with it.
  14. See the folks in town taking a double take on it going by? T.hat was cool
  15. I'm curious.... what oil are you using and how many miles on your engine?
  16. Yes I went to a hydraulic hose guy and he did not have them. I will try greed's two places. Thankin' you guys
  17. Thank you to both you, I was looking at Genos w/o any luck.
  18. Vulcan performance no longer includes a FP test ports or Schrader valves with their big line kits and no longer wants to deal with customers as per our last fridays conversation with Eric. Even though Eric said he will make up an invoice for me to pay for one on pay pal...... he did not do it. I am very disappointed and the conversation we had was not like the good old days of dealing with him that started 10 years ago. In that time I have bought injectors, two big line kits, two lift pumps, draw straw, BHAF and an injection pump over the years. He obviously disappointed with dealing with the public, but still his word should be good as gold. Does anyone know how where I can buy a schrader valve test port that I can Tee into my 1/2'' fuel line? Needs to be a barbed tee and a larger schrader not the size used for filling tires. Is it a schrader for testing Air conditioning? Thank you in advance for any information
  19. That dog was the nicest dog you ever met, so well mannered, but warned you when a stranger showed. I loved that dog too after I spent a week visiting with Mike and diesel took to me as his buddy.
  20. I'm thinking of a 5th wheel lately, but can't get around the thought of parking where ever I would want like I can now.
  21. I'm lucky I made it back to NW Oregon since I cooked the brakes in southern Cali. hauling my camper. Dang... it was about a 7000 ft. drop in 13 miles of road. I got to change the other bearing then too as Mike says. Les Schwab put in Timkin. So that's what I'll do for the right side.
  22. Still a good time to send in your tax deductable donation for the year if you haven't done so. Thank you members. Michael Nelson does a terrific job on this site and spends more time helping others in so many ways. Its almost like he is the boss of a big mechanic shop with all the workers getting the good advice to accomplish things smoothly. A Never ending job, I can tell he enjoys doing, but is for the most part an unpaid position. Even if its a dollar Michael knows how to stretch it and use it proper. Thank you again to the contributing members and the regular members that need the help and love to visit, we all enjoy hearing about your trucks and whatever interesting news around your place too.
  23. Do any you guys think my smokin the front brakes had anything to do with the front bearing going toast at 99,000 miles? They were so hot I had to stop let them cool. I'm guessing I could have cooked the grease and several hundred miles later I got thrown into the fast lane, almost out of control, when the left bearing gave way. What new air hammer you guys talking about? I need to learn about air tools.
  24. Perhaps yours is a rebuild that got modified during rebuild. I knew the ND alternators are better than Bosch from years ago experience with my first gen truck. So I changed over to ND on my 2002 even though the Bosch was still charging fine. I'm glad I did anyway. I need to order another diode bridge from 'Mopies' (Mopar1973Man) again just to have on hand
  25. It doesn't sound quite right. Perhaps your Denso is off of a different car or truck. You might do better to go get the correct Denso for our trucks and keep the rebuild parts for the future. I don't know if there is a part number on the alternator.... I'm curious to find out if its for a different vehicle. BTW, The W-T grounding mods are worth every effort in reducing damaging levels of A/C ripple even with a new or old alternator.
