1st wood fire...
I'm in Oregon on the wet side. I have a vacation cabin, for a client, tore wide open involving a major remodel. It's tough cause weather's acting like the rains want to come a bit early this year.

Auto trans problems with holding gear
Could this be as simple as some bad grounding? Others will hopefully chime in & add to this. Do the simple inexpensive steps first anyway. Should test even a new Alternator. Battery clamps and posts clean, good batteries.etc. I remember reading about changing some of the trans sensors over to Borg Warner too. How many miles on it?

Wheel maintenance?
Lacquer is good stuff but, I would call Alcoa and find out if it will react with the factory coating. It's very thick on there whatever it is.

1st wood fire...
Thanks all.... Never used coal before so I tried a small chunk. It's going and broke up into smaller pieces. Seems like it doesn't smoke like the wood around it.

1st wood fire...
Hmmm, wonder if coal is a good option from wood with cost comparisons.

oil in coolant, no coolant in oil. bad cap, next test?
Another story about an owner that can't believe his truck can go so long. I went thru that for awhile. I used to listen for what I thought was a change in noise if there was any....... Oh I think I never heard that one before etc. But the truck keeps on going strong , still likes to be worked once in awhile. Amazing engine. Glad you got it fixed

1st wood fire...
I can't believe it is feeling so cold this morning on Aug 16th. I shut the windows and lit a small fire. Hope fall doesn't arrive early this year. Anyone know what to do with a small amount of coal? I found about 3 buckets full. Never seen it up close before but knew what it was. I put a small chunk in the stove to see what it does. So far it doesn't lite real easy.

1st Gen Oil Drain Plug
I'm headed there today for other things. I did not think they would have a Cummins part, but will bring the 18mm plug to compare. Thanks much Kitt.

1st Gen Oil Drain Plug
My other truck is a 92. Sweet reliable truck but each time I order a new drain plug from Genos they send me an 18 mm thread size. Then when I go to change the oil the new drain plug is too large to fit in the pan. Does anyone know where I can get the correct size? If so, what size is it? I must say that Genos is the best in trying to help as they sent the second plug free. Oh well if anyone needs a new drain plug I have three of them extra that fit my 2002 second gen not the 1st gen.

Wheel maintenance?
I have three sets of those. They are the real McCoy when talking about an aluminum Alcoa wheel. I have never dealt with the white rash before as I have very little of it. I understand it is caused by a chem reaction from the outside lead weights. So tell the wheel balancer to only use weights on the inside sides or only the stick on weights for inside the rim, have them cleaned with brake clean to stick well. They are the strongest 16 inch rim. Stronger than steel and are still available at a cost of almost 300 bucks each brand new. A good deal when I typically find them for around 200 for nice set of 4. Not perfect but still nice. Also the Dodge/ Chrysler center caps will still fit. Alcoa says to use only stainless steel high pressure stems to stop corrosion and to clean the mounting face once in awhile, because of corrosion when mounted to the steel hub. Also they say the lug torque is around 110 -120 ft. pounds. Cleaning the mounting face helps keep the torque setting tight for the long haul. Sorry I can't help with the refinishing aspect. Unlike a cast aluminum wheel, because they are forged, (very expensive process), they have a nicer color. After awhile you get so you can recognize Alcoas distinctive look.

sleeping with the bucket
As in the life of Dryley?

Painting rocker panels
I like Hammerite paint because I painted my mail boxes in both places we've lived and it last for a very long time. One box was rusty and ugly so I poured the paint on and brushed it out like thick glazing as the paint was very old and thick in the can. It looked good for a long time.

sleeping with the bucket

How can we become perfect?
It makes many folks feel better about the work being done when they can pay something Mike. Many times I've felt not right about something being done for free for me. Sometimes I have to say to the folks I'm doing the work for, no! If you pay me I won't do it so then they let me complete the work and all is happy. There is a line to be drawn there though and I think everyone understands that..... got to make it thru slow times etc. but when an honorable person has been having a hard time, it's time to do all you can for them What is very sad is when you get a dishonorable person that is doing well financially yet will tell you a different story about their situation. That is where I let God do what he has to do for them. I've found that having faith in these situations usually becomes very revealing/ embarrassing to them as the scope of work develops. Seems like God places the situation in a position that exposes their deception. It's very embarrassing for them usually.

How can we become perfect?
Yes Michael, the older I get, the more I understand how older folks really can use a little bit of help once in awhile. Funny how we are built that when we help others, it makes us feel pretty good about ourselves. Michael, you've been blessed with a greater freedom to go and do for others and that's a cool cool life right there.

How can we become perfect?
Thank you you guys, this is a good discussion because as said, we are all human and in this together, in the same boat lots of ways.
-
How can we become perfect?
Thank you Joe. So it is attained thru faith. By becoming stronger. as faith is more an act of love toward God, has nothing to do with scientific proof. To have true faith in the Lord is to love all, that is perfection. This an area that I think many churches fail. Often people quit going since they never feel perfect or feel inferior.

Painting rocker panels
I think you brought up a good question. On my all black truck I can't give an answer though. I think your ideas are really good as far as the type of paint and dealing with the threshold.

How can we become perfect?
I'm always kicking myself for failing. How can we become perfect as our Lord asks? So is our becoming perfect have more to do with our faith in our Lord and his unrelenting love, mercy, forgiveness and always being faithful?

Church web stuff
Mike, I tried to wash the ink on one of my canceled checks and it smeared some, washed off some like you said, but it stayed clear enough to read the original amount. I think it's very difficult to wash a check clean and clear to change the amount.

2012 Avenger screening Air Intake
I camped for 9/10 hours at a campground, got in the truck the next morning to start and a chipmunk was scolding me out front of my truck. I became suspicious and popped the hood and found he had chewed the soft rubber cap on the proportioning valve. That Turkey! Now a couple years later a chipmunk was at my back door on the wet side of Oregon. We don't have chipmunks around here, do we?.

oil in coolant, no coolant in oil. bad cap, next test?
I fully understand. The older I get the more it seems I'm always looking thru a cloud of smoke trying to reason out why something happened that shouldn't. I'm glad you posted here and bounced it off us to think it through.

Time for a power steering flush
Eventually I'm going to install a 'Y' ball valve so I can drain and flush easy. Placed on the return line with a hose coiled up ready to go in a bucket when I want to flush it again. If I drink too much beer the toilet always flushes by itself.

oil in coolant, no coolant in oil. bad cap, next test?
Yep look for bubbles in the coolant at idle but, don't drive it if there are, as you'll cause more damage to the engine. I hope it is a simple head gasket. My 92 is approaching 500 k miles. No problems yet.

power steering box pressure
Blue top steering gears is supposed to be the best around from what I hear. Best do it right cause new trucks cost too much now. And from what I hear.... the newer, the more problems it has.
