  1. Still hoping you call a formal meeting of the board at the campfire someday with members too. Could happen at that nice rv park almost next door.
  2. Yes I can validate this.... folks are still human. I loved staying there for a week is like the rest of the world disappeared. BTW, Just in the time this thread got started the traffic has increased about 30 percent around here along with the suicidal driving. I find it hard to believe too.
  3. It's lotsa work to frame it in for strengthening it again though.
  4. Argumentative threads like this are good when blood is running slow. Really gets the lift pump going but not for hurtin a friendship..... it's never worth that.
  5. I kept adding springs once. They just kept loosing their shape letting the truck sag. After many years and a newer truck I convinced myself for a set of airbags. Airbags are a must to help save the springs.
  6. Welcome to the forum .....That's good numbers btw.... mine was showing the 0216 code for 4 yrs, doing 1500 mile round trips that way before Mike changed it at 83,000. I wonder what the shortest distance an original VP made it
  7. So your saying someday our cart/trucks will get a yearly inspection but no registration renewal if the vehicles where worked on by someone other than the certified mechanical shop or Dealership? That there will be some sort of way they can tell the work was done by others at the yearly inspection. Something like a special proprietary paint applied to the nuts and bolts that shows tool marks, something like that. Scary proposal because there is nothing like the freedom and satisfaction of repairing your own vehicle on a Saturday. It's American as Apple Pie.
  8. He he he. Isn't it about time you bring it in for dealer check up?
  9. I have a sneaking suspicion that this is a fuel clog somewhere in the tank screens or the old screen they used to put in the inlet side of the lift pump. I think you should drop the tank, check it out. You might even have the intank lift pump with clogs or failure. I could be wrong but, I know Dodge screws up pretty bad not putting on a large filter outside the tank, one you can get to. I know they short cut this for their own benefit since a lot of guys take it to the dealer with fuel problems. On a boat with single or twin diesels, lives depending on those engines at sea, they never rely on screens, it's always a big filter that not only can be quickly changed but, has a lot of capacity before clogging.
  10. That's cool. I went there one time but the line to the gate was so crammed after an hour wait we turned around and left. Don't know why but that year it was mobbed with visitors.
  11. That's too bad tell him for me not to sell it because he will regret it. It's like selling your right arm not having a truck.
  12. Ryan, how is it possible to trade that nice of a truck in on a Tahoe? Must be a growing family, something like that. We had identicle twin girls that twisted our lives right around.
  13. That's interesting; No damage and did you say the dealer admitted not using the correct snap ring? Hope you find all the pieces
  14. Killer tha's great advice. I'm familiar with Messmers siding stains. Didn't know they made a log home oil. Interesting someone from a sunny area responded as my logs do sunburn and darken on the upper sides. There is no chinking HR, they have a foam tape in between the logs as they were stacked. It is a kit home which is fine with me as hand crafted cost 2 times as much back in 96. Are you saying bleach will hurt the wood grain or does it play havoc with wood color? Wasn't planning on bleach, but good to know about such things anyway. Good that you specialize in log homes.... you get to work more out in rural areas that way...... room to park.... not lock your truck etc. I specialize in getting jobs out in the countryside
  15. My hat's wood color like to stay with that Mikey, my husky liners are close but, not black. he he
  16. When I first built my small cabin I stained it for color then applied teak oil. After the teak oil, I mixed 50 50 paint thinner and exterior varnish. The thought was varnish would be thin enough to do a good soaking into the wood grain and not cause a pealing flaking problem in the future, requiring the need for excessive work on sanding and refinishing10 years down the road. However, after talking with a log home inspector, he told me that if he finds a log home that has been varnished that he would turn down the entire sale of the property and should never, ever varnish a log home. That moisture gets under the varnish and starts rotting the logs with mold. Well 20 years has gone by and as I started using his recommended oils, not varnish this time around, I find the oil seams to eventually dry out and allow a raw wood look that starts to mold on the surface like an untreated deck. I say this with the information that my original 50 50 varnish mix did not ever peal nor get mold underneath the finish. It just sort of weathered away and never ever pealed nor crystallized like some varnishes when they age. I'll say it again.... It just weathered away with never a mold or pealing problem. I want to go back to the 50 50 mix again because it lasted at least 10 yrs and made the home look great. What are your folks experience? Have you ever finished exterior wood with success? Thanks for any thoughts.
  17. Let us know what it was on your truck
  18. I don't know a lot about these trucks except what I read. At any rate I think that you should have tried the Timbo Apps upgrade after doing the first VP 44. It is an aftermarket upgrade which affords a much smoother Accelerator position sensor that's proven itself to be much more reliable with less occasion for dead peddle problems. The factory APPS is almost 500 bucks and is made cheaply compared to the 162 dollar Timbo APPS. I think you should do the Timbo Apps before any more money is spent on the more expensive items. Timbo APPS is a good upgrade if you wish to keep the truck for the long haul. Only other info. I can offer is to check for the computer damaging AC voltage being tossed out by a bad alternator. It can really mess with the dc system and you need an expensive Fluke volt meter to check for AC voltage. In the Articles you can read how to test for it and I think the AC voltage shouldn't be any higher than .10, No higher than that. Even new/ rebuilt alternators can emit too high of AC too.
  19. Yes it's good to be able to keep the rat race far far away. Even if for a few moments. I enjoy work so much with a vacation between jobs, but, some are a bit bigger than I like.
  20. Keep in mind the world is filling up with more bs. Source Automotive has guys coming all the way in from Texas for service. On the other hand, how can you place a price on freedom. Work when you want.... drink beer when you want. Wish those darn emoticons would start working all the time.
  21. See Mopar Mike is out of work and look at all the complaints because of bad shops. I have my list of never go backs too. Mike you could be on the computer in your own shop making big.... guys traveling from far away...... and you could drink coffee and tell your guys what to do. he he
  22. Good luck on the new place and hope it will be a good place for bees. This all will turn out well I'm sure. Make sure you find one with a big shop too of all the best options.
  23. See, answers like this make this site so worth it. Call me not very engine educated but at least I'm impressed. Thanks AH.
  24. It's past any kind of warrantee but maybe Cummins will admit some responsibility and at least help out with a very good price to your buddy. Can't hurt to try anyhow but go down there with the pics and talk to them don't just call out of the blue.
  25. Looks like Mariners got it.....only a few hundred from Russ. Those are just baby trucks not yet grown up.
