  5. hey native, the mixture is 128:1 so for every gallon its one fluid oz or a quart per tank. http://forum.mopar1973man.com/threads/5078-2-cycle-oil?highlight=2+stroke is your truck an auto?
  6. Welcome to the forum Native! Ask away, anything and everything! If you could fill out what you know about the truck in your signature it will help with evaluation and answers from others. First, congrats on the new to you cummins! You will love it and if you take care of it, it will take care of you. You should check for and immediately upgrade if needed the following: lift pump (if factory replace it with aftermarket) GET GAUGES!!! EGT/BOOST/FUEL PRESSURE minimum The vp44 requires good fuel pressure to stay alive. Without this it will die sooner than later. and this will cost upwards of ~$1200 or more. you should also start on a fuel additive for lubrication of the vp44. I personally use super-tech tc-w3 outboard 2 stroke oil (ashless). 1 gallon will treat about 4 tank full's and is about $12. this also will keep the vp alive seeing the new ULSD basically has no lube anymore. there are many others that people use but this is an example. http://www.walmart.com/ip/Super-Tech-TC-W3-Outboard-2-Cycle-Oil-1-Gallon/16795065 Here you will not get flamed for asking anything noobish or not, this is family and i hope you enjoy your stay!
  7. how much wood could a mikesplit split if a mikesplit could split wood?
  8. if im reading this right, you took the injector line off and turned it over, no fuel came out of the injector line from the vp44 and you saw bubbles coming from the injector tube in the head?
  9. very very very pure water rarely does this but you can make it at home... on the other hand sodium acetate trihydrate does exactly what he did but in any temperature except boiling. it is commonly called "hot ice" and you can make it at home, non toxic too. hot ice or sodium acetate trihydrate is exothermic. You super saturate water with baking soda and vinegar, boil it supersaturating the water and till it cant dissolve anymore. then you are good. http://www.instructables.com/id/Make-Hot-Ice-The-Complete-Guide/
  10. i remember reading the same thread the piece was like $1.25
  11. Ive searched and cant find the thread showing where to get the little plastic "cup" that fits on the ned of the shift stick into the tranny. Mine is worn and has about an inch of play front to rear and i hate play. its the little black thing on the end of the stick shift below (cant get the image to work) http://www.allstategear.com/Shifter%20Components/Medium/NV25683.jpg

  13. ill test mine and see what im running at. mine starts withing one turn of the starter and i run higher pressure than 10psi...thanks for the vid mike!
  14. Welcome! and remember there are no stupid questions here!
  15. So i got to thinking that having polls will help many make a decision or get a baseline of certain vitals on the cummins. Ill make a poll for a few things, it will help with troubleshooting as i see many times folks asking for "what range should i run" or "what is a good pressure" etc etc. I think these will be beneficial for all of us. Maybe Mike can make them a sticky so folks can get a quick look at vitals and what people run with things quickly.ill make the polls seperate from this thread.
  16. look on the top of your pump, you will see lettering. also on the side behind the return line on the vp is the part number. check your invoice of the vp you got from TD and see if you got the right one. http://www.thoroughbreddiesel.com/bosch/vp44-injector-pump.htm Thoroughbred Diesel offers replacement Bosch Vp44 Fuel Injection Pumps that have been rebuilt by certified Bosch tech and have been tested on a test stand for 4hrs before the pump is sent to you. 17. hmmm.... im stumped on this one. You positive you got the proper pump? they are different for auto or manual. also i would call them and get dialogue started so you wont have much time wasted if you do have to replace it again. I purchased mine from them also and have had zero problems. You may have gotten one that has a failed computer and its just not putting out a code?
  18. that is a balancing grind. you will see the same thing on the turbine wheel as well. they dont balance the nut as that will change location when you mess with it. check out turbo balancing on youtube and you will see them do the grinding for balance. Pretty neat stuff!
  19. im not even broke in yet... just rolled 170,100 on mine...
  20. sounds like the computer on the top is starting to go cereal on ya?
  21. if the bushings or bearings (not sure which the AD165 uses) go bad or sieze it will cause a amp increase thus blowing the fuse. Or like other suggested it is having issues either pulling fuel from the tank or pushing fuel to the filter assembly. You could get a bucket, disconnect the output hose at the filter and bump the key to get it turning, if it sounds like no load then the filter assembly has a clog. If you cant find the clog move up the line to the vp input and repeat.Or remove the suction side to the AD and see if it runs with no issue. Could have something stuck in the straw in the tank.Best of luck man!
  22. i got mine from thoroughbred diesel, they dont charge core until after 2weeks of you recieving it, giving you time to install. just ensure you get the right one. i have yet to have an issue with mine going on 3 years now. price was about $1200~ iirc
  23. when you get this done, tear the old engine apart and let us know what you find, im very curious as to what the issue is.
  24. yeah the larger tires will only rub on the lower links when at full turn. my swampers have huge lugs on the sides that attribute to the rubbing so regular tires probably wont make much noise.
