arc welding produces higher temps than a fire so the smoke was probably a extremely higher concentrated form of it.either way glad you are ok!

2 Stroke oil in fuel and Smog Test
im not sure what they test for on a diesel in cali but here in denver they only check "opacity" levels of the exhaust. nothing more like the gassers and the breakdown of the exhaust components.id say if he knows when he needs to get checked, empty the tank of the 2 stroke mix and just run straight diesel and all should be fine. then go back to the 2 stroke regime.

Structure Fire
I am astonished your man didnt die or have permanant injuries from the phosgene. "We go back into rehab once again. We receive news that another firefighter monitoring conditions on the shop and the attack, inhales phosgene from a refrigerator. Thankfully, he did not suffer anything serious from doing so." that stuff is nast nasty stuff, it was used as a chemical weapon in WW1. article about a guy who was welding with brake cleaner still on the surface and inhaled a iddy bitty portion of phosgene and basically effed him up real bad permanantly. http://www.brewracingframes.com/id75.htm

Oil Truns Black Quick
one thing to remember, when oil turns black or discolored, it is doing its job by taking contaminates away from the engine. I wouldnt want to know where all those contaminates would end up if the oil refused to catch it and take it away when you change the oil.to me black is good. its doing its job

Fuel prices going up again
hex0rz,you are correct about the weak dollar, and you summed it up perfect with your statement "BUT, anything the greed-mongers can use to justify the means..."i would love to ____ in their wheaties and make them work hard for nothing just to barely get by from someone elses greed.

stumped
I would hate to say but there is a serious problem with the vp. When i had my lines off and empty to replace the cross tube orings, i put it all back together and cracked 1,3,4 then turned the engine over for about 15 seconds of which i saw fuel, so i tightened them up and cranked again for about 10 seconds and it fired right up with a stumble while the other lines cleared and then it was running perfect.you shouldnt be having this much difficulty with it getting started. Is the vp getting power? is the vp plug hooked up?

Fuel prices going up again
well back when the prices started to rise, i predicted that eventually the cost of gas that consumers rely on no matter what will have an impact on what they spend outside of fuel. This directly impacts the economy, food, housing, anything that is transported by means of fossil fuel machines. Then the house bubble popped and it was a double hit for everyone. The real issue i feel is this. The speculators cause much of the inflation on oil. One day they say that oil will rise in 2 months. Well literally because they said that, stocks start to trade causing the price to rise. Same thing with it dropping. The fed that controls the interest rate does the same thing. They say the interest rate will rise in the next year, well literally because those words were uttered from the mouth of some idiot the rate goes up. There is nothing controlling the percentage of interest or the cost of fuel other than Greedy human beings that own the oil or interest rate that dictate what that cost or rate will be based on how much people are willing to pay. Until it gets too costly to justify not using fuel/oil the price will continue to climb. Prices and rates will drop to the bottom when they realize they have gone to far and we cant afford fuel or oil or loans anymore. This is what has to happen and it is fast aproaching. greed is what drives the economies of the world. nothing more.

Fuel prices going up again
i would love for fuel cost to skyrocket to where no one can afford them. let the economy crash again and maybe someone will get those idiots on wallstreet to stop speculating on oil and causing the fuel rise. Not to mention the damn conflicts of all these idiot countries that thinks their god is better then soemone elses..i remember back in winter 2004 regular was .99 gal. it hase only gone up since then for no damn reason aside from greed.they need to GTFU (grow the f up)

Low power CTD issue - KyCTD
if the only thing he used from the old engine is the ecm (if i read correct) Logic would state that the ecm is faulty. just a thought

Front hub replacement/axle housing seal
i actually have that setup ready to do mine, but instead of beating it i was going to "draw" the seal to seat. so i would be taking another nut and tightening it against a bar sitting on the axle end so that it will smoothly pull the seal into its seat. thus it can be a one man job (aside from carrier removal)but yes that carrier is a heavy glob of metal from what i hear.
-
Front hub replacement/axle housing seal
ive only read about it, from my understanding the driver side seal is in the pumpkin and you need to remove the diff to replace it. (please correct if im wrong)the passenger side you have to access through the 4wheel actuator box on the axle.to me it would be a time consuming process. But you might only have allowed fluid that was above the seal to drain and it sealed back up.

What part is this in the HVAC Box
if your resistor continues to blow you need to change the fan motor as it is gummed up and drawing too many amps burning out the resistor pack. I had this happen to my rig, it finally blew the original resistor block, so i purchased a new one. Well a month later it blew again and the guys at advance told me i need a new fan motor (it didnt dawn on me until then)you will know its blown as it will only run on high and nothing else. if im not mistakenReplaced the fan motor and all is well.
